Zazie -- Thanks so much for the explanation of each chart -- I totally understand how they work now!!! I remember last year how James Otto had the #1 song of the year on Billboard, but "Our Song" was the #1 song of the year on Bob Kingsley's countdown.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with "Then"......it's been almost 2 weeks now, and it still seems to be going strong.
Anyhow...congrats to Brad for 10 #1's in a row!!!

Ordinarily, any song which has soared to #1 in ten weeks over the past dozen-plus years would be a mortal lock to spend at least four weeks @ #1, and frequently several more weeks in the penthouse; Tim McGraw immediately comes to mind.
Brad would appear to have two weeks at #1 at Country Aircheck/Mediabase, and that might be it.

will this song have a music video? No. I hope they already shot the video for the second single so they can release it as soon as the song goes for adds.

Isnt it wierd that the lead single from one of the biggest artists doesnt have a video ?
But then since its #1 did it really need it ?
& whats the point of videos then anyway really ?

Isnt it wierd that the lead single from one of the biggest artists doesnt have a video ? "Ticks" didn't have a video, either, so this is hardly unprecedented for Brad. And if I recall correctly, Kenny's "Never Wanted Nothin' More" also didn't have a video, either. & whats the point of videos then anyway really ? Videos can be good online marketing tools -- premieres can get the artist front page placement at sites like CMT.com, AOL Music, Yahoo! Music, etc. Video releases to iTunes have correlated with spikes in digital download sales for the corresponding song, as well.

If it wasn't a video it looked a like it was. Like if it was taken from a live dvd or something.

"Ticks" had a live video. I remember I saw it on YouTube. If it wasn't a video it looked a like it was. Like if it was taken from a live dvd or something. You're right that such a video exists. But it looks to me like Brad Paisley's YouTube channel lists the videos in the order that they were posted, and the live video of "Ticks" was posted online after the official video for the second single from 5th Gear, "Online," was posted. I don't believe a video was sent out during the actual chart run of "Ticks," but feel free to correct me if I'm misremembering. It's not impossible -- Brad started performing "Ticks" in concert in late April 2007, so if his people filmed a performance within the first two or three weeks of that leg of the Bonfires & Amplifiers tour, then the video would've made it out there for the very tail end of "Ticks"' chart run. ETA: joey2002, that's what I thought I had read, as well.

I remember in an interview, Brad said two things about why there wasn't a video for Ticks. First off, Ticks rose so fast, that he didn't have much time to make a video...and secondly, the song really spoke for itself even without a video, haha. My opinion is that they were already working pretty hard on the "online" video at the time...which turned out to be the video of the year.
Maybe a similar type of thing is going on now? I can't imagine Brad releasing two serious songs in a row... ;)
On a side note, this song still seems to be going strong on the charts even after 2 weeks at the top!

Brad's ahead by a pretty decent margin on mediabase, so i think he'll get to the three weeks I predicted on Billboard also. Like Zazie said though, it's probably not enough yet to get him the #1 song of the year. Wow, so now we can only say the "Billboard chart", instead of Billboard/R&R?

Like Zazie said though, it's probably not enough yet to get him the #1 song of the year. You've got me confused. Do you consider a margin of 38,000 impressions our of almost 38,000,000 total impressions is a "pretty decent margin"? What would you consider a close race? I realize the two panels are different and also there's one more day to go in the chart week for Billboard, so I would call this "way too close to call." Brad was ahead by about 1.1 million on last week's Billboard and Kenny has so far gained about 1.1 million -- that is fairly close. I don't know which song will prevail, and I'm puzzled by Kenny going backwards this morning -- if I were a betting man, I'd bet, oh, maybe $3 on Kenny. This is only Brad's 12th chart week, the one that's finishing tonight, and he'd have to get more than 16 chart weeks to be #1 for the year on Billboard. It's hard to see him winding up with more impressions than Kiss A Girl, not to mention other worthy candidates. If Brad were to drop really slowly, he could do better in the year-end listings.

^ I think I must be looking at different mediabase numbers -- all I can see are 'Spins' and 'Points'. Which chart shows the margin of 38,000 impressions? The closest race i've seen is on the Saturday before "Then" made it to #1 on mediabase:
"Then": 15192 points "It Happens": 15191 points
I haven't seen the Billboard numbers since last week...i'm guessing we lost the 'Real Time Tracker' when R&R went down?
Anyways, I like these $3 bets.....I'll go with Jamie O'Neal again! :)

I look at the MB numbers on AllAccess, and if you use that website you can see the audience numbers as well as spins. I just assumed that's where you looked at them too. I guess that America's Music Charts has the point totals, but I never think about that data source. Anyway, I always think about audience because I'm a Billboard follower -- there's no reason to focus on spins or "points" if you're trying to project the BB chart, since they use audience. Jamie O'Neal says you owe me $6.

The MB numbers I was looking at just showed spins and points -- and only included the top 40 songs. So now that R&R is down, when do we find out about this weeks Billboard chart? Jamie O'Neal wants me to buy you a copy of her new CD instead...

Gets a 3rd week at #1. Only the second song to do so this Billboard year, after Darius Rucker's "It Won't Be Like This for Long."

Arista seems to be doing a good job promoting this album. It should be interesting to see the first week sales number for American Saturday Night.

The song just doesn't want to quit! :) But it will. Kenny will be #1 for sure. Btw, according to the latest video on his YouTube channel "Water" will be the new single. But I'm not sure if they mean it like "official single" or they are just talking about the digital download they released this week.
