Wow, it's friday evening and this is still #1 on the R&R Real Time Tracker ( cclamp.radioandrecords.com/RRWebSite20/), and still gaining spins on mediabase... The song just doesn't want to quit! :) I could be off-base, but I think you are looking at a cached version of the Real Time Tracker, not one that is still live. My guess is that the reason that "Then" is showing up at #1 is that it was #1 when the R&R website shut down, and it hasn't updated since. The easy way to disprove this is to look at the Greatest Gainer feature. If George's points gain changes, then the Real Time Tracker is still live. If not, then you're looking at a cached version of it and the fact that "Then" is #1 there is meaningless.

I've been looking at it over the past few days, and the numbers do keep changing -- so it is still working. Kenny likely will jump in soon, but I'm still surprised that Brad is making a close attempt at a 4th week. (If it means anything, "Then" did finally lose spins & its bullet today on mediabase) EDIT - as of 6 PM this evening, Kenny Chesney is now #1 on the RTT...

Looks like, after a week of paralysis last week, Kenny will finally take over on the 6/27 Billboard. No doubt the RTT is hard at work, informing us about any chart we're trying to follow.

It appears to be all Kenny at the top for the past 24 hours or so on our friend the RTT -- but hey -- a 3 week #1 song nowadays is like a classic 6 week #1.....or is it? I'm not quite sure...

The most unusual thing about this song's chart run, as I've stated before, is that most songs such as this one which torch the charts enroute to #1 in less than twelve weeks (superstar-level pace) almost always spend anywhere from 5 or 6 weeks in the penthouse, and occassionally more.
That's been the case since I became a full-time country radio listener in 1997.

yeah, it's only been over the past year or two that things have changed -- songs don't seem to stay any longer than 3 weeks at the top anymore.

So far all I've got is "She's Every Woman", which reached #1 in its seventh week but only spent one week at the top.

The only song this decade (besides this one) to accomplish that was Toby's 'Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue,' which moved from #2 to #1 with a gain in excess of 750+ spins in the summer of 2002.
That abnormally large airplay spike (by comparison, 'Jesus Take The Wheel' gained over 500 spins when it moved from #2 to #1, and wound up spending five weeks atop the R&R charts) might have been possibly due to a special syndicated program of some kind which aired to commemorate the July 4th holiday that year.
'Courtesy'... lost it's bullet the following week (that might have been another first after that huge burst of airplay), but still managed a second week at #1 before 'The Good Stuff' took over for a seven-week rampage at #1 @ R&R.

^That's interesting. I knew that Courtesy took a huge jump to #1 only to quickly fall, but I didn't know it was that big a jump.

I don't know, but it was the #1 single of the nineties, according to Bob Kingsley.

Yeah, I remember it as being one of the most popular hits in my lifetime....was there ever a song before it which had more than 8 weeks at the top? So how are we to judge how popular this song by Brad is compared to his other songs? I know it only spent 3 weeks at #1 -- but we're obviously in a shortened chart era now. In some ways it reminds me "Amazed" because it's a huge wedding song, and so many girls really love it.

It had a moderately slow climb to #1 (I don't think it hit #1 until it was about 15 weeks old; it spent at least five weeks below the 40 before it finally broke in), and ever so slowly inched its way down after spending what felt like half of 1999 at #1. It was held aloft by the #25 cutoff rule in place at the time, which kept it on the chart for 41 weeks (and made an insanely long run for "Write This Down", which wasn't off the charts until "What Do You Say to That" had peaked).
