Very nice update. Like I said earlier next week we should see what's going to happen. Will this get a push to get it into the top 20 or not? 8 million AI without I guess those internet stations that were removed from the AI column.

Well, it doesn't look like the label gave stations any added incentive to add the song after it reached #1 on HotAC. You can see what happens when a label finally gets behind a song and gives stations the green light to play it (i.e., Daugthry with No Surprise).
So where did the song peak on Pop? #27. All in all that isn't bad at this point in Rob's career. I was hoping that he could get 12-15 million in AI from the format but that didn't happen.
Rob says that Someday is the next single. Probably looking at a high 40 peak on pop for that song. Someday wouldn't be my choice for the second single.

I'm ok with "Someday" as the next single. I'm really ok with anything they've talked about releasing EXCEPT "Give Me The Meltdown". I like that song enough, but just not for a single. I could see it not connecting to the audience or it having a high burn rate.

Nice! Are these AT40 spins or is the song getting more spins on stations' regular programming?

This has been on AT40 for a while (AT40 effect only applies to first time played on the show) so it has to be an increase in regular rotation. :)

His songs have always been slow, steady gainers. I know there's no chance of it happening, but I would just love it if Kiss 108 or Z100 would add this song!

Curious to understand what "added incentive" Atlantic could give to Pop stations. And what Daughtry's label did for his song. Just want to understand this. This is just my opinion from following songs and charts for a long time. I'm not really referring to payola or out and out paying a PD or MD to add a song. I don't think that goes on anymore on a large scale. However, labels have radio people (or hire people to act on their behalf) to go to the large stations and say so and so is our priority right now. The song is testing well with this demographic and that demographic. We would really be happy if you would start spinning the song in turn we'll give you this artist or that artist on our roster to do an in-house promo gig or whatever. In other words, the label makes it known that they are ready for this song to move up the charts. It obviously doesn't work for every song/artist or everything would be big hit but I do think this goes on to a degree. Do you ever wonder why a song will linger around for a long time in the lower part of the chart and then all of a sudden "take off." Do you think that happens by accident? At the same time 40 stations decide to add a song when it's been out for X number of weeks already? There's a plan there by the label. Look at Her Diamonds on HotAC. Two weeks ago Rob was close to being a number one but wasn't there. I think he benefitted from some "push" from the label to get him over the hump for about 10 days. Now, those stations that maybe increased his spins for a week or so have already dropped them back and Rob has lost his bullet. He didn't really stay at #1 long enough for it to have happened naturally, IMO. I'm happy the label (probably) helped the song out. Rob deserved another #1. Now, of course, I could be completely full of it but to me this is how the radio game is played to a degree. Obviously, radio is more likely to jump on songs from artists that they have had success with before but some artists need a little help. I don't work in radio so take this all with a grain of salt but you asked.

And it goes without saying that there are just some artists that aren't going to get radio support no matter how much the label pushes for them. Taylor Hicks?

Her Diamonds is certainly hanging around on the pop chart longer than I thought it would. I wonder when the new single will be released. This looks like Rob's last week in the top 50 on the album chart. I have his sales around 230,000 in 6 weeks. Per Hits he sold around 10,000 this week. So Her Diamonds looks like it could push the album to around 250,000 over the next month or so. Probably a new single in late September when Rob's tour starts?

This will likely peak at #25 this week with Second Chance going recurrent. Again, I see this hanging in the 20's for the rest of the Summer.
Still don't agree with Someday being released, it just won't work. Give Me The Meltdown HAS to be released.

I don't think that goes on anymore on a large scale. It definitely does. There are tons of interviews from former recording artists/people who worked in record labels talking about how payola deals are made constantly (even recently). Kinda sucks, but what can you do?
