Katy Perry working with The Dream for new album Katy Perry has confirmed that she is working with Beyoncé and Rihanna's producers on her new album.
The singer, who hosted the MTV EMAs in Berlin last week, revealed that she is returning to the US to resume work on the follow-up to 2008's One Of The Boys.
"My album is very premature, it's in the beginning stages but it's exciting to be back in the studio again," she told the Daily Star.
"I'm heading to Las Vegas to hook up with The Dream and Tricky Stewart, who wrote 'Single Ladies' [for Beyoncé] and 'Umbrella' for Rihanna.

Didn't she say she wanted this album to be something that people can rollerskate to?

She's already been in with Dr.Luke again & Greg...Tricky can do anything as far as production so i think it will be really good.

I love her. So excited for this new album. I wish though that her label had released If You Can Afford Me as a single though...

Exciting!! It looks like she's trying new sounds, and it's a great thing that she does.
I hate artists that record the same popular song again and again just to make more cash.

In the meantime, The-Dream is hard at work on upcoming releases by Ciara (“We’re trying to get her back to where she was her best, and that was that first album“) and Katy Perry (“The stuff that I’m doing is really ’80s-driven”).

I'm glad Dream knows where Ciara needs to be and I hope he hooks Katy up with some hits!

I would have preferred that she stay with Glen Ballard. I'm opposed to urban/R&B producers in general because they tend to be conventional musically and uninteresting lyrically. But The Dream is the best of that field, and a pretty good writer, and Katy is a good writer herself, so hopefully it will turn out well.

While mostly known for their work with hip-hop and R&B acts, hitmaking duo Tricky Stewart and The-Dream are branching out into pop/rock territory with Katy Perry’s sophomore album, the follow-up to 2008’s One of the Boys. The Grammy-winning Stewart took time out from his holiday vacation to speak with Rap-Up.com about one of the projects he’s most excited about for 2010. How far along are you on Katy Perry’s album? Right now we’re at the very beginning stages. I’m the first producer that she’s gone in with. There’s gonna be two other producers on thealbum . We feel really great about the stuff that we’re creating so far. We’ve been just writing and writing and writing, so we have really, really good stuff, but we don’t know what stuff is going on the album yet. What direction is she headed in? We haven’t really locked in on the songs or even the direction for that matter. We’re trying to write great songs, just really making sure that we have real interesting records that are smashes. Will the album have an urban sound at all? She’s doing what she did the last time. It’s pop/rock. It’s a different gear for me. This is a very important project for me ’cause people are waiting to see what I’m gonna do. What is she like to work with? Katy’s very, very cool. She reminds me of the type of people that I hang out with in my everyday life. She’s a very fun person to be around. Her energy is great, her spirit is great. We’ve spent a lot of time together in a short period, so I would definitely consider her to be a friend at this point. What have your studio sessions been like so far? We’re putting it in. We’re there from 1 p.m. to 5 a.m. That’s pretty much the schedule that I keep in the studio with all the artists that I work with. If they’re not ready to go hard, they don’t usually go in with me. –D.L. www.rap-up.com/2009/12/22/tri...um/#more-34504

As long as there's another (a) 'Hot 'N Cold' and (b) 'Thinking Of You' on the album, I'm there.

Didn't she say she wanted this album to be something that people can rollerskate to? LOL. Believe it or not, I'm pretty excited for this. I hated on her and Gaga big time in the past, but I've grown to like them both to some degree. I'm curious about The-Dream doing pop/rock, that will be interesting.
