Pepsi MAX, the official soft drink of the NFL, today announced that it will debut a new 30-second spot during the Super Bowl and be part of multiple activities during Super Bowl week in Indianapolis. The Pepsi MAX commercial entitled "Check-Out" is the newest edition to the brand's playful Cola Wars campaign. The spot depicts a competitor's deliveryman attempting to discreetly purchase a bottle of Pepsi MAX at the supermarket when he unexpectedly becomes the grand prize winner of "Pepsi MAX for Life." As a surprise "on the spot" reporter, Regis Philbin appears to get the embarrassed driver's thoughts on his big win. This role marks Philbin's first television project since leaving Regis & Kelly. A brand known for featuring great music as part of its Super Bowl ads, Pepsi MAX tapped Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles to record a renowned country ballad to accompany the spot."The 'Check-Out' ad was developed to extend the legendary cola wars through a humorous scenario," said Amy Wirtanen, Senior Director, Pepsi Marketing. "The brand has a history of producing star-studded Super Bowl ads, and as one of the most iconic personalities to ever appear on television, Regis Philbin with his witty sense of humor was a funny highlight for this commercial." A longtime Super Bowl advertiser, Pepsi will also debut the highly anticipated X Factor spot featuring winner Melanie Amaro during the game this year. www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/pepsi-max-confirms-30-second-ad-and-consumer-activation-for-super-bowl-xlvi-138331374.htmlI found this on youtube, it's only a few seconds of the commercial but it's kind of cool. youtu.be/FKe6nyORbrM

Not new music, but... Trisha Yearwood Launching Food Network Series The Grammy winner and cookbook author will share family recipes on a six-episode daytime show set to premiere in April.
Grammy winner Trisha Yearwood is cooking up something new.
The best-selling author of two cookbooks has inked a deal to star in a six-episode daytime cooking show for the Food Network, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. In the as-yet-untitled series, Yearwood will share food traditions and display her Southern hospitality, sharing recipes with friends and family and preparing Sunday dinners to planning family reunion barbecues. Each of the six themed episodes will invite viewers into Yearwood's kitchen for her favorite meals and family stories.
"Fans know Trisha best as a music powerhouse, and through her new Food Network show audiences will learn first-hand what her friends and family already know -- that Trisha is a talented, passionate rock-star cook too,” Food Network GM and senior vp programming and production Bob Tuschman said. "We look forward to sharing this side of Trisha with viewers, showcasing an intimate, entertaining look at her personal recipes, family traditions and warm Southern hospitality."
Ellen Rakieten Entertainment and RelativityREAL will produce the series, which is in now in production in Nashville and set to bow in April. For her part, Yearwood has released a pair of cookbooks, 2008's "Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen" and 2010's "Cooking for Family and Friends," both of which reached No. 1 on the New York Times' best-seller list on the advice, how-to and miscellaneous category.
"I'm so grateful to Food Network for the opportunity to share my family's favorite recipes and precious memories in this show," Yearwood said. "I'm having so much fun, it's a very special experience." Yearwood has picked up three Grammys, including for best female country vocal performance in 1998 for her hit "How Do I Live." On the small screen, her acting credits include JAG and appearing as herself on Crossing Jordan. She is repped by WME.

Nice to see Trisha's getting a Food show. I will definitely check that out. Hopefully she'll get back to working on music on the side, too! As for Trailer Choir making a comeback: God, please no!

^Amen to the Trailer Choir comment.
What about SheDaisy getting that opening? They have been making some noise here recently, and there is currently NO girl groups to speak of. (I guess you can count Pistol Annies, but for one) I do not predict getting much more from them and two) SheDaisy is totally different than them even if they both fall under the same heading.)

With Rascal Flatts under the Big Machine umbrella, I doubt it would happen. Although I don't see it happening, that would be really ironic, considering they were both signed to Lyric Street Records at one point. I wish there was room for more female groups on radio; there have been so many good ones over the years who just gradually faded because radio never gave them a chance.

His first album came out when he was 14 but he sounded way older. It had a handful of great songs but some skippable ones. His 2nd album I liked alot better and it would have done great to introduce him to the US market at age 16. His 3rd album was when he was 19 and was more mature and again had some great songs. The 4th album that was what was trying to be released in the US, but only made it to Canada, well I like it most out of all 4. Peresonally I relate to alot of the material on it. The first 2 singles did ok and made it into the 30s in the US. "Crazy Days" was a bit hit on NC radio Summer 2009 cause of the "Carolina skies" line. His concert at Coyote Joes in Charlotte was very well recieved during that tour. It just seems harder for some Canadian artists to break thru than it used to. I know in the 90s we had Shania, Terri, Michelle, Paul Brandt, Wilkinsons...and the ones whos careers were cut short in the US had years longer in Canada on the charts.

Yeah there were definitely some skippable songs on the debut, but I think that "Horseshoes", "No Vacancy" and especially "Only Know I Do" could have been big hits in the US. "Could Have Fooled Me" from the second album, and "Get It On" from the third album could have also done well. To me, it seems like they tried to break him in with his weakest album, which was unfortunate. I agree that it seems harder now than it used to for Canadian country artists to make it through. Unfortunately, I also think that Canada's country artist were better 10-15 years ago than they are now. That could be due to the fact that I don't listen to radio much anymore, so I don't hear the songs as much to get familiar with them. Farmer's Daughter are the Canadian act that I wanted to make it in the US the most, but they haven't put out anything together in years now.

Trisha Yearwood:
"I'm having such a great time filming this show for Food Network! Don't worry, music fans, I'm working on a new record, too! There will be food and some music on this show...stay tuned!"
Glad to hear that she's working on an album! She's one of the artists I miss the most.

Adam just announced his new album will be out Feb 28th on GMV Nashville. Its called "Different Places" and the single is "High on You." Its funny tho, he made a music video for that song about 4 years ago thats on Youtube, but it never made it to CMT Canada nor his self titled album that he originally recorded it for. I love the song and have for years! I'm glad its finally getting its official release and I can't wait to hear this album! Its actually an EP, and it'll be on Itunes and Amazon. His tumbler says to request the song in the US and Canada. I hope he goes after the US market again with "High on You." I can see it being a hit potentially. adamgregoryofficial.tumblr.com/www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuzxJ8VJrKccountrymusicnewsinternational.blogspot.com/2012/02/adam-gregory-to-release-different.html

Looks like Julianne Hough and UMG are in no hurry to release her album. Her country music career is on hold until further notice. "She had also planned on carving out time to release a new country album, but it seems those plans are now on hold. Julianne told NBC last year that her sophomore album is done, and she was tempted to release it online herself. But she refrained, knowing it would upset her record label. So now she's found the silver lining by using the time she would've spent marketing her music on building her acting resume. "I definitely tried that avenue [music] when I finished 'Dancing With the Stars,' and it's something that I've loved to do ever since I was little," Julianne tells Parade magazine. "I've always wanted to sing country music, but I think something was missing for me and I feel like I've gotten that connection with the film world, so I'm going to keep going with that. That's not to say I'm not going to keep writing and singing. I love it so much and I could never be without it." www.theboot.com/2012/02/02/julianne-hough-ryan-seacrest-new-album/

Here is a female I found on Facebook a while ago: Nicolle Galyon. She is going to be on The Voice and I have a feeling if she gets picked she will go to Blake's team. Anyway, here is a link to one of her songs. soundcloud.com/nicollegalyon/seventeen

^Nicole co-wrote 2 of the songs on Lauren Alain's album Wildflower. She co-wrote track #2, "Growing Her Wings", with Nicole Witt, and co-wrote track #12 (last one), "Dirt Road Prayer", with April Cushman.
