Or, Kelly has done wonders to this song. She's amazing with that voice of hers. Woohoo for Breakaway! It deserves to be at #1 for awhile.

One of my local AC stations just added this song. Strange as that may sound, this station is one of the all-time worst when it comes to adding new music and making any adjustments to their playlist. The last new song they added was "She Will Be Loved", and I wonder if there will be any other new adds before summer comes...

"Breakaway" has become old though on HOT AC and POP so I hate to hear it!
It should have a while to go at #1, nothing is close besides "Heaven" and hopefully AC is do with it!!!!

At least there's a new song on that roughly once a month (the frequency last fall was a little more, however). "She Will Be Loved" was the last song they added? That IS bad! They probably won't get around to adding "Sunday Morning" until November, if then!

I've always wondered how the AC panel has 116 stations which is just 3 stations less the Pop yet the #1 song at AC is getting 2200 spins while at Pop the #1 song is getting 8800 spins. How does that work? And same with Hot AC? They both have huge panels yet the spin ranks are so low and audience is so low.

They play a whole heck of a lot more reccurents while Pop pretty much sticks to new music.

Pop stations play their big current hits a lot more frequently than AC or Hot AC stations do. AC and even HAC stations also devote more time to recurrents.

It's already been #1 for 5 weeks and the gap between it and #2 is continuing to grow, so I wouldn't be surprised if this spent 10 or more weeks at the top.

This still has a bullet of +85. I wonder how long until there's a new #1.

Wow, 9 weeks! Is that normal for an AC song? You must not follow the AC chart very much. ;) Nowadays, most number one songs stay up there for double digit weeks. The record is about 22 weeks, set by "Heaven" by Los Lonely Boys. The old record was "Drift Away" by Uncle Kracker featuring Dobie Gray. Before that, a handful of songs shared the record of nineteen weeks on top. So actually, if Kelly Clarkson were to fall out of the top after just nine weeks (which I think I can safely say will NOT happen), that would be unusually short by AC standards.

Darn, I was hoping "Home" or "Daughters" could overtake this song. There's only so much of "Breakaway" I can take. And now "Heaven" is back at #2. Arggh.

Arggh is right! I dub the latter of the two "the song that just won't die", especially because it's been around forever on TWO different charts. While the Los Lonely Boys version is getting gross overplay at AC radio, the Salvador version, which sounds too much like the LLB version, is still hanging around the Christian AC charts. Come on, people, what is it about the song that is so special that it deserves to be in the Top Ten for nearly a year?

Wow, 11 weeks, almost a year since it was released.... :o I think it it is doing so well 'cause it's an anthem. Anyone can enjoy it, relate to it. It's old, and I'm a fan, but I'm not gonna complain!! Kelly deserves this so much.

I can't figure it out either. But the good news is: once "Heaven" drops below #5 in a couple of weeks, it'll be off the charts for good (except for the year-end chart).

Well, that's one reason to be glad that they raised the 50-week recurrent bar up to number five.
And, since AT10 is no longer broadcast on my station, I'll probably get the year-end show on CD. If so, I'll just fast-forward through "Heaven".
To think I used to like the song! Talk about a personal chart regret...
