While being interviewed on this weekend's VH1 Video Countdown, Adam said that the next single from FYE would be "If I Had You." Of course they won't promote it until WWFM slows down, but now we know.
I think this was a good choice; top twenty at least is a given.

When I saw this, I thought they pulled the plug on WWFM! LOL. Anyway, I love this. Great choice.

This is a good choice, but how it performs will completely depend on where WWFM peaks.

Still can't imagine this (great) chorus doing anything on US radio.
Anyway, shouldn't this have an adds date first?

Well it was already confirmed as a single and it would be ridiculous if it WASN'T sent for adds on CHR, considering it's THE most pop-friendly track on the album IMO.

Can't wait to see what it will do. Love the song and think it's better suited to pop that WWFM.

Much better than the rumored "Fever" as a single. But I disagree this is the most CHR-friendly. I think WWFM is the most CHR-friendly on his album. This song is basically an 80s movie montage song with a techno 2010 backing track.

This is the perfect choice for the 3rd single but I wonder how this will do. I personally love this song but i don't know if radio likes this side of Adam, seeing how FYE faired...should be interesting to watch how this song does.

Wait, this isn't confirmed yet--he said it was most likely the next single, but that nothing had been decided yet, and someone from RCA said that it was the best guess at this point but nothing would be decided for sure for at least several weeks, while WWFM is still going.
So, this seems like a premature thread. :)
ETA: I'd be happy to have this as the next single, just saying it's too early for the thread, isn't it?

It's clear it will take some work to get CHR to play a male electro-pop track....that's why I said this song's performance will depend on where WWFM ends up. If it's a solid hit, radio will be more willing to embrace a song like this since he'll already have a bit of a name for himself on CHR...if it stalls out soon, they may not be so friendly towards it.

Anyways, AWESOME news if this is set to follow WWFM when that's done. His label's on the right track, imo.

The fact that he's a male will be the only thing this has against it. I still think the song is strong enough though to overcome the male dance stigma on Top 40. How can pop ignore that beat and chorus?

Yeah, I agree with atunes, I think this is just straight up catchier that FYE. And it would be a good spring/summer dance track too. And it fits in with whats going on much better than FYE. To me, anyway.

Good choice. Sleepwalker will be perfect after this. RCA is doing a great job picking out the singles for him.

I agree it's miles better than FYE but my point is that if WWFM isn't able to become a solid hit then I don't think radio will be more willing to embrace this, since WWFM is less 'risky'...we'll see what happens, this is definitely a very radio-friendly song on it's own. Good choice. Sleepwalker will be perfect after this. RCA is doing a great job picking out the singles for him. Aside from his debut single

^ Well at least RCA reacted quick and released WWFM quickly. Unlike Cook's LO where they stuck with it for months and months when it's obvious that it's not clicking.

This is more than likely why Kelly's 4th single isn't "If I Can't Have You".....

This is more than likely why Kelly's 4th single isn't "If I Can't Have You"..... How about not riling up the Kelly st@ns? That's not a pretty sight, and it's very unlikely that this song has anything to do with IICHY not being a single anyways.

I get where you are coming from now. I think WWFM will do fine so I don't think that will end up being a problem. Where do you think WWFM needs to peak (or what does it have to sell) to not be an issue for the next song?

RCA may think radio would choose one and since Kelly has the better track record...it really makes perfect sense. RCA is not dumb as some people make them out to be. I don't mind I'm satisfied with AIEW and IIHY.

I don't think Kelly's 4th single has anything to do with the release of If I had you.

However the two acts being on the same label, the similar song titles, and the songs themselves sound alike. Then their was Kelly's tweet about the label leaning towards the 4th single being one that started with I and ended with U.

I just have a hard time believing a label would cancel a single just because another one has a similar name. Seems really far fetched to me. I think IICHY probably was in consideration, hence Kelly's tweet, but they just ended up deciding on AIEW instead.

Why exactly would radio be hesistant to play a male electro-pop song like this? Don't the males out their need something more than Lady Gaga to get into?
