People acting like im the only one that sees Eminem was the favorite. Look at all the articles in recent days. Stuff like...
Who Will Win: Eminem.
Who Should Win: Arcade Fire.
A lot of articles had that. So basically...based on personal opinion...they thought Arcade Fire was the better album. But still predicted Eminem to win it. Eminem = Favorite.
Heck i would be saying this even if i wasnt an Em fan. LOL.

Eminem: Guy over 40 who sags pants, wears hoodie, like a teenager. Maybe that's why he isn't taken seriously. Be a professional, not the kid a third your age in in-school suspension for carving the word "poop" in your desk.

Even Eminem knows and said that Rihanna is a big reason why he was even up there tonight. I'm no big Rihanna fan, but it's pretty obvious that she was a big reason why his album was a success. LMAO. Rihanna's recent album (and tour) flopped yet she is somehow a "big reason" for Em's success. Puh-leez. Eminem would've had success without her. The point is that without LTWYL, the album would've gone the way of Relapse. It's just the truth. She was the reason why the song was as big as it was. BTW, neither Loud nor Rated R were flops.

It's close to a million and it has been out for what, 3 months? seriously, you guys are quick to label anything as flop nowadays. I will refrain from talking about the tour because I know like, nothing about it. Anyway, clearly love the way you lie was the song that made this album sell what it did, and if Rihanna wasn't in it, perhaps all it would've done was do well, like Not Afraid did. Rihanna may not sell that well, but we all know Radio and Itunes love her, so, I don't really see where this is going.

I'm not disputing that it got better reviews. I disagree with all the reviews. Also when Pitchfork give Recovery a 1.8/10 and Slant give it a 1/5. That's going to bring the metacritic rank down. Eminem will always have haters. But the people claiming Eminem wasnt the favorite tonight are nuts. Now you may not think it was deserving, but that doesnt take away from the fact it was the favorite. It was the betting favorite as well. I don't determine the favorite. Odds makers and etc do. Better Reviewed doesnt make an album the favorite. The better reviewed album is the album that is considered the best. The album that is considered the best is the favorite. felipe, i'm not sue you understand the concept of the term '"favorite" here... it doesn't mean best reviewed (i.e., the critics favorite). and someone was saying rihanna had a flop album? can you please point it out to me? because it certainly wasn't loud, rated r, or good girl gone bad...

He is now 0-3 in the AOTY category were in two of the three years he was the favorite in the academy. He's won an academy award. Dude has symphonies in his head.

LOL. Not according to the oddsmakers felipe. Well, you should have paid closer attention then because they made it pretty clear the category is supposed to be the BEST album of the year. And the critics agree AF's album is the BEST album out of those 5, so it isn't really hard to figure out which album was going to win. If Eminem's album was not considered the best album of the year I don't see how it would be favorite to win a category titled best album of the year.

Anyway, this was fun. Can't wait to do it again next year and watch another male solo rapper get snubbed Album Of The Year. But hey, Maybe TOOL will release an album before the deadline and get a couple grammys next year. Heck if Arcade Fire can win AOTY. Why not Tool?
We should just have Metacritic host the grammys since everybody here thinks they determine who get's AOTY. lol.

Critics don't like Tool much (especially Pitchfork), so I don't even know why you're bringing them up.

They don't determine who gets it, but their taste has proven to be pretty similar to that of the voters, so that's why it usually reflects the favorites.
