Really? Now we're resorting to making s**t up? She did NOT fall. I didn't see Christina fall either. At around 10:20. You can see florence's arm as she tries to help her. Nothing much though ^^

Yep. Basically for a male solo rapper to win they need a lot to go there way.
Hits, Sales, Other nominees to split votes, and etc. Now Eminem and Kanye have seem to have that in the past and they didnt win. So i have a hard time seeing the academy.....idk. I think Kanye has a chance given Recovery didnt win this year and they won't have to worry about giving it to a Rapper two years in a row. But i still don't think he will.

Kanye would have stood a better chance if he would have been eligible this year. If people are going to bring up the critical acclaim factor for Arcade Fire and Kanye West, the competition will be much tougher next year acclaim wise.

I think the rap factor might have to do with the excessive profanity. If the albums weren't so vulgar, but kept the same production, I think it would be easier. No matter how "creative" the beats might be, it's cheapened by excessive f-bombs and what not probably to the Academy...who are older voters than most of us. Kanye's persona is also going to hurt him. Probably worse than Eminem.

Grammys 2011: 15 Things You Didn't See on TV1. Arcade Fire was in quite the celebratory mood over its Album of the Year win for "The Suburbs." The group entered the press room singing the graduation anthem "Pomp & Circumstance" and cracked about the shocker win, "Were we more surpsied than [award presenter] Barbra Streisand or less surprised?" Singer Win Butler also touched on the significance of winning an award for an album "in the age of the iPod." "We really believe in records," he said. "Records really changed our lives. When we make a record, we really put all of our soul into it. To be recognized for that [by] this group of people, in the age of the iPod or in the age of the single or whatever it is, we still really care about records so it means a lot to us." 2. Lady Antebellum, who led all winners with five Grammys, is already "about halfway done" with its next album. "We feel really great about what we've done so far," said Charles Kelley, who added that after winning Record of the Year for "Need You Now," he and bandmate Dave Haywood "looked at each other and we kind of had this moment where we said, 'We've got a lot of work to do.' It did put a little extra pressure [on us] in a good way -- this is our moment to really make this thing and make a good record." Of the country trio's big wins, Hillary Scott said, "We really wanted to make Nashville and the country music community proud tonight. I think it just shows that country music is relevant and it's relatable. I just hope they think we're flying the flag right." 3. As Usher was casually fielding questions backstage about winning the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance Grammy for "There Goes My Baby," a white suit-clad Justin Bieber stunned the room by running out and jumping on the R&B singer's back. Bieber was in high spirits even though he had just lost the Best New Artist honor to jazz artist Esperanza Spalding. "I'm really happy for her," the singer said. "I had a great night. I got to perform with my mentor." Meanwhile, Usher dished out his Valentine's Day plans. "I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day," he said. "My kids do. I'll be celebrating with them." 4. Two biggest exclamations in the press room: a cheer for Arcade Fire when they won Album of the Year and a gasp of disbelief when Esperanza Spalding was named best new artist. Spalding insisted, "I didn't beat [Justin Bieber] -- that's not the way it works. I take this (trophy) home and tomorrow we return to being colleagues like we were before today. He still has great hair and I have great hair ... He's gonna have many more years and many more nominations, so I think he'll be straight." 5. Apparently, there's more music to come from the Black Keys' 2009 hip-hop project, "Blakroc," recorded with such guest rappers as Raekwon, RZA and Mos Def. The Keys' singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach said backstage at the Grammys that there's about half an album's worth of music from the sessions that hasn't been released. It could be released as part of a deluxe album package, he says. "There's some good stuff," Auerbach says, noting that the tracks feature performances by Jay Electronica, Wiz Khalifa and Currency. 6. R&B singer John Legend, who won three Grammy Awards, has tapped Kanye West to help him work on his next album. Legend told reporters backstage that he and West are already "off to a good start" and reconvene in March for a two-week recording session in the studio. The singer hopes to be done with the set by spring. Meanwhile, will there be a Volume II of Legend's recent collaboration with the Roots? "No, we didn't record extra songs," the singer says, noting that he and the collective recorded different versions of the songs but only released the best ones. 7. First-time Grammy winner (Song of the Year, for "The House That Built Me") Miranda Lambert's Valentine's Day plans surely involve her fiancee Blake Shelton, but that's not the first thing that popped into her mind while chatting with press backstage. "I'm going to celebrate Valentine's Day by kissing my Grammy," the country star said. "Except I won't get to take it home, because they rip it away as soon as you win." Lambert also said getting her award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance (for "The House That Built Me") from pals Zac Brown and Dierks Bentley made it extra sweet. "It's so great to get something that means the world from friends." 8. India.arie, who won best pop collaboration with vocals for her "Imagine" duet with Herbie Hancock, says there's a "very interesting" project for her on the horizon. "It's a bilingual album in English and Hebrew and it's called 'Open Door,' " she explained. "I'm doing it with one of Israel's brightest stars, Idan Raichel -- I met him while on vacation in Israel, I heard his music and I felt like it was my music, too." On the timetable for the album, she said, "Our goal is for it to be out in the summer." 9. Elly Jackson, one-half of the British synth-pop act La Roux, sported an unusually conservative hairstyle at the 2011 Grammys. Backstage after winning Best Electronic/Dance Album for its 2009 self-titled debut, the group -- which also consists of producer Ben Langmaid -- briefly touched on the musical direction they'll take with their next album. "We want to expand from what we started and make it bigger, more epic," Langmaid said. 10. Ray LaMontagne has never seen an episode of "American Idol," but he does have thoughts on the experience of hearing others perform his songs. "If you wrote a song and other people want to sing it, it's nice. It means it has legs, it has life. I was in Atlanta once and after a gig we went to a small club to hear a local band and they played 'Jolene' with all these great harmonies. I thought they sang it better than I did. That was the Zac Brown Band long before anyone knew who they were." 11. Train's Pat Monahan reinforced the band's decision to license "Hey Soul Sister" -- winner of the pop performance by a duo or group Grammy -- to Reebok, Apple and Samsung, saying that "visual (elements) mean something for people. It's hard for people" to latch onto a song without a visual component. He then suggested, perhaps tongue in cheek, perhaps not, "we're looking for a diamond company for our next single 'Marry Me.'" The band also said it would be open to sporting Lady Gaga's red carpet look one day. "Absolutely -- we love eggs," cracked drummer Scott Underwood. 12. "Empire State of Mind" co-writer Jane't Sewell-Ulepic has no idea what attracted Jay-Z or Alicia Keys to the song she wrote with Angela Hunt and Alexander Shuckburgh. "We've never spoken with them. We're pretty introverted. Once we're done we move onto the next thing. Maybe we'll see them soon." 13. Actress-singer Tia Carrere got hot under the collar when asked for an opinion on a recent New York Times article that the Hawaiian music industry is splitting into factions over traditional vs. contemporary styles, island acts vs. mainlanders. "I was ashamed," she said, discouraged that many musical acts she felt would show traditionalists have a role in contemporary Hawaiian music were left out of the article. 14. The final of the four music performances staged to break up the pre-telecast ceremony featured a fiery rendition of Willie Dixon's "Wang Dang Doodle" that started with Cyndi Lauper singing the lines made famous by Howlin Wolf and then Koko Taylor. Betty Wright, Maria Muldaur and Mavis Staples entered the stage on successive verses while guitarists Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Buddy Guy added gritty solos. Staples and Guy both won Grammys. 15. Unlike the CBS show, the pre-telecast uses a revolving cast of hosts. When comedian Kathy Griffin took a turn announcing nominees and winners, she took full advantage of the lack of TV cameras. Political correctness was tossed aside as she cracked jokes about organ transplants and Native Americans, cursing at anyone who did not get to the stage quickly to pick up their Grammy. www.billboard.com/#/news/grammys-2011-15-things-you-didn-t-see-on-1005032142.story

yeah definitely not. Adele is taking that Grammy She has to be one of the early frontrunners particularly in the pop fields. I say she just about has Female Pop Vocal on lock unless Gaga has another "Bad Romance" up her sleeves or Beyonce submits to pop again.

So, I have a quick question...
I know that writers also win awards in some of these categories, but do the writers also win an award with the "Best Female/Male Pop Vocal Performance" categories?

Kanye's persona is also going to hurt him. Probably worse than Eminem. No doubt this has to be some of it. Outkast is really the only true rappers to win it and they are not as vulgar as the rest. Plus they had that feel good "Hey Ya". That's more feel good than anything Em or Ye have ever done. And Lauryn Hill i don't consider a rapper. But again...one is a group and the other is female. So no solo male rapper has won it. I'm starting to think thats right. What is the age average for most of the voters i wonder. Ah well...It's tough for Kanye or Em to complain. Eminem has 13 Grammys in 36 career nominations. Kanye has 14 Grammys in i believe 37 career nominations (may be 36 nominations). I doubt Detox is out before the deadline...so I really don't think Kanye needs to worry about another rap album. He needs to worry about what he says on twitter.

Only the act itself wins for the "vocal' categories. Writers win "Song" categories. For record of the year, the act and producers share the win. Not sure if producers also share the album categories.

Great Grammys! Happy for Esperanza Spalding although I wanted Florence to win! Happy to see Lady A take home so many and be the biggest winners of the night :) Surprised by the lack of Em wins.
Happy for Fanny, Rihanna, GaGa, LaRoux, Buble, Bruno, and Miranda <3 Sad to see Katy get snubbed though :( Good night though!

[Grammy conference room - 5 white guys.]
Boss white guy: Alright, whats left? Hurry up, I'm tired.
White guy 1: Best rap album.
Boss: Oh Jeez. So what do we got this time. Lets do this quick. Who do we have?
White guy 2: BOB, Drake, Jay-Z and The Roots.
Boss: (Looks at the group like "The fuck?")
White guy 2: Syke, Sir!
*Whole room breaks in laughter* *Boss laughs along*
White guy 3: Of course we've got Eminem, too.
Boss: Well damn you almost got me. I was about to fire all your asses. Anyway, thank god he dropped something. What's it called, "Release" or something like that? Remember when there was no Eminem album and we had to give it to that Ludacris character?
*they laugh again*
Boss: And good job on picking the losers. I don't know any of them, except for Jay-Z. What the fuck is a Drake?
*White guy 4 raises hand*: I put him in there. My daughter likes him. As a matter of fact, I listened to the album and maybe he should even..(Boss: Oh shut up.) Yes, sir.
*boss' assistant looks through the door*: Excuse me, Mister Smith?
Boss: Yeah?
Assistant: We've got a woman in the lobby asking for your time. She's been waiting for hours and shes pretty insistent. She says she travelled a long way from Europe to see you.
Boss: Hmm. Send her in.
*the lady steps in. Its Pulse's own slicknickshady!!*
slicknickishady: Hello Sir, I just wanted to make it clear how loved and appreciated the music of Eminem is in british hoods as well as all around the globe. And...
Boss: Oh no, not this shit again! *presses some dialer on the table*
slicknickishady: ...could you please make a category named “Best harmonizer in Hip Hop”? I know he would win that one.
*Boss shouts in his dialer*: Security come in and get this bitch out!
Boss (to the other guys): Can you believe this bitch? Someone needs to tell her stank ass that Eminem will get the damn thing every time he drops something and she doesn't need to annoy me every fuckin year!!
slicknickishady: Please, Sir, let Eminem win everything! Give him the Grammy for Best New Country Artist, too! I will suck your balls!
*Two Security guards come in to get her out. She gets dragged out, but puts up a fight and you can still hear her trying to make some points*
slicknickishady: Soulful beats…Hooks………General concensus! Ah stop pulling my hair!
The End.

Good article. www.mtv.com/news/articles/1657938/eminem-grammy.jhtmlSo how, exactly — after rebounding from the most critically disappointing album in his career (2009's Relapse, which still won Best Rap Album in 2010) with the commercially successful Recovery and its two #1 singles ("Not Afraid" and "Love the Way You Lie") — did Eminem walk away without Album, Song or Record of the Year? "Recovery is a dark and grueling record that doesn't always click musically. It's easier to admire than listen to, at times," Spin Music Editor Charles Aaron told MTV News. "The high points are spectacular, but there's a lot of sketchiness. Also, the Grammy voters skew old and white and have a problem acknowledging hip-hop." As Aaron points out that in the past decade, rappers like Lil Wayne and Eminem lost out on the top prize to veteran rock acts like Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and Steely Dan, respectively. The project had all the ingredients to win big: a comeback story, big sales, chart-toppers, etc. But compared to past hip-hop albums that took home Album of the Year (Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below), Recovery might have been "too hip-hop," according to Vibe Editor in Chief Jermaine Hall. Those efforts stretched the boundaries of rap music in a way that satiates Grammy voters. "Outkast winning Album of the Year makes more sense for them, because it lives in several genres," Hall explained. Still, at this point in his career, a mellowed Eminem has risen to veteran status, and after a career as the wild card, he's firmly an establishment star now, from his appearance on "The Late Show With David Letterman" to sold-out stadium shows with Jay-Z. But in terms of hip-hop on the main stage, there's still a ways to go. "It's an uphill battle for a hip-hop album to win Album of the Year," Rolling Stone senior writer Brian Hiatt explained. "It was a really strong comeback, but I think there's still a resistance to Eminem specifically and maybe, to a certain extent, hip-hop in general in the overall voting group in the academy." Despite going home without the big prize, Hiatt suggested that Eminem focus on what his loss might actually represent, which is a sort of coronation of his comeback. The rapper was nominated, an obvious nod of respect, but perhaps his being shunned was recognition in and of itself. "In a way, Eminem should treasure the fact that he didn't win, which means he's still dangerous," Hiatt said. Another Good Article. abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=12913646Eminem's Loss Shows Grammys Still Behind on Rap

Eminem losing wasn't that big of a deal, but the fact that Arcade Fire took it was the biggest shock for me because they weren't the frontrunners. BNA should have been for Drake. Bieber was never going to win (see: Jonas Brothers).
Katy's performance was my favorite one. Quite simple but better than GaGa's overhyped but only "good" performance. Eminem/Skylar/Dre were great. Rihanna was good both times.
