Oh come on Dudley, Be a sport. It's Ms. Underwood afterall. I think you should unlock all 15 threads. And now that the third single is official , it seems like the perfect time to start seperate polls on what her 4th, 5th & 6th single should be. Last week, I was going to respond to Lumpster's post with a crack about how there was no poll needed because left to their own devices, folks would be happy to take up pages of this thread with an off-topic conversation about subsequent singles, interspersed with warning posts from me to get back on topic. I decided against posting, but I would have looked prescient if I had. I distinctly remember having posted multiple times in the "Temporary Home" thread reminding posters to take their next single speculations to the Carrie thread in the General Artist Discussion, A-J forum. And the fastest way to irritate me is to make me repeat myself. So here is the heavy hand: any fan who posts next single speculation as the focal point of a post in this thread will get this thread locked for twenty-four hours. I don't care if the next post is someone else frantically trying to get the offender to delete his/her post. Considering the number of times the subject of the singles from Play On has been rehashed in multiple threads, it is difficult to imagine the regular participants in those discussions having any genuinely new insight to offer. But if for some reason they do, they should take it to the aforementioned Carrie/ Play On thread in the General Artist Discussion, A-J forum. This thread is meant to discuss "Undo It." Please stay on topic. Thank you.

So what does everyone think will be the name of the next album that Carrie Underwood releases? Also, on that album, what will be the names of all of the tracks on it, and what cities will she be visiting on that album's tour?
Also, after getting married, do you think Carrie and Mike Fisher will first have a son, or a daughter? And what do the think the first child's name will be?
Okay, with 0.497 mill on this morning's MB chart, I'd go with Undo It just missing the BB chart this week, and going for a top 30 debut next week.....

When they get to "Sixth Single" they will feel sorry they ever got started down the path.

Which, coincidentally, is what all of the rest of us will need, to deaden the pain from hearing the lyric "you stole my happy"....

^ lol I actually love that part. "You Stole my Happy..." lol I know those lyrics are not exactly going to change the world with their deep and enlightened impact, lol, but the song is fun and catchy, perfect for a Summer Single.
Carrie has alot of serious, meaningful or inspirational songs, so it is kind of nice to have a fun, catchy, mindless Summer song for a change of pace.

Alas, her serious, "meaningful," and inspirational songs do nothing for me; and, even though I like plenty of mindless songs, I haven't cared for her previous mindless ones (although I give her credit -- when it comes to mindless, nobody can outdo Carrie). But you'll have the last laugh, as this song soars to the top. I'm sure I'll hear it by the time it hits the top 20, and who knows, maybe this will be my "happy"est-ever descent into mindlessness.

"Mindless" songs can still be incisive lyrically. This one isn't, although I don't think it's terrible so much as underdeveloped, like a draft of what could be a pretty good song. I think Typo commented in one of the umpteen prior "Undo It" threads that s/he (sorry, I don't know if Typo is male or female) felt the second verse lyrics were lacking; I think both verses are too dull for the level of snarl in this song's melody, its chorus and in Carrie's vocal. The lyrics in the chorus (including "you stole my happy") don't bother me in the slightest (it's a colloquial touch that fits, in my view), and I'm fine with the stuttered "uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-undo it," as well. Although I must say that Carrie & co. missed a real opportunity by not using "you stole my puppy."
A live video seems like a good play, both because the overproduction of the chorus annoys me and because the concert setting is the right showcase for this type of song. The song taps an attitude with which I find it easy to connect and that, I would think, resonates all the more with Carrie's audience at her concerts.
I don't think "Undo It"'s chart run will hold as much interest for me as that of its predecessors from Play On. In the end, it neither harshes my mellow nor lifts me out of my mindlessness. A live version replacing the studio version to radio might make me root for it a bit, though, depending on how the live version sounds.

I think that the lyric "you stole my puppy" would be pretty darn hilarious for a song like this

^That's a little later than I expected...I wonder if it will chart this week, or if it will build up for another week or so and then explode into the top 40 on its first week...

Is the date even important for someone like Carrie?besides she will be in the top 25 or close to by than?

That's much later than I expected. TH is still dropping, so it looks like radio will be without much Carrie music for another month (save the stations that are willing to play a song before it is officially added).
I wonder why they're waiting so long?

Is that the finale week of idol?
The adds date leaves me pretty confident it will be "Temporary Home" that is performed on the ACMs. :)

Hmm...May 24 is a month too long. The adds date should've been next week or the latest two weeks from now.

It's just outside the MB top 60 already...but maybe it'll hold there while singles around it get promoted. I can see it charting a good 2 weeks before its add date, and doing pretty well...but once 5/24 passes then it'll really take off (before then it'll probably move as fast as some of the fastest ones now though).

Yeah, that's quite far away but it shouldn't matter with Carrie. I'm glad she's releasing this as there's a country bar I frequent, and her upbeat/angry songs are always some of the best of the night.

This is far and away the worst, most shrill and most overbearing single of her career; to follow up one of the two or three best singles of her career with this overproduced number is very disheartening.
A couple of her previous singles were equally shrill and equally unlistenable for large portions of the song, and that especially goes for 'Last Name'.
This very late add date is also very strange, considering that 'Temporary Home' is the fastest-plunging single of her career; losing almost 2,400 spins in a mere seventeen days ranks right up there among the largest wholesale collapses of the past several years, a la 'Somebody' & 'Stays In Mexico' just to name a couple.
The release date should have been earlier this week, and she's really blown a chance to enjoy having one of the very biggest singles of the summer.
With extremely little competition from most of the format's other megastars, all of whom are either out with new singles which figure to provide any realistic competition, already in the top 20 or thereabouts and out of the way, or struggling with their current singles, this is shaping up as a major missed opportunity for her.
It might make the top ten, but that's about it.
Here's hoping that she doesn't emulate Tim McGraw and whiff on the next two or three choices for singles from this CD.

Does the adds date really mean all that much? What's more important is when it's serviced to radio, right?

Top 10? No, this is a guaranteed top 5, most likely #1.
Carrie is HUGE right now. If she can go from "Cowboy Casanova" to "Temporary Home" and have both be successful, she can transition to "Undo It" without any problems. Especially considering how huge "Before He Cheats" and "Last Name" were, which are similar in style to "Undo It". PLUS, this is being released right in time for the summer, when this type of song normally does well. Another thing it has going for it is it's a 3 minute song, short and sweet.
For us music critics around here, there may be many things we don't like about this song...... But for the casual country radio listener, they (the majority) are going to love the "uh uh uh uh's..." and just singing along with the chorus itself and the "nah nah nah nah's". Not many people are going to be worrying about the terrible lyrics.
Now that I think about it, I can't see how it won't be a multi week #1. But that's just my opinion.....that I know not many of yall agree with.

"Undo It" is super upbeat, catchy, & radio friendly - a perfect "sing along" summer song for the casual listener. We'll see what happens, but personally, I really can't see how it could miss the top 3...

As stated earlier, I'm surprised that the adds date is later. But in the end, it won't matter. And superstars can have songs, no matter how bad the reviews are, get to the top. See Kenny's "Ain't Back Yet". If you think this song will miss the top spot, you're mistaken. Carrie will fly up the charts on this one...she's had every single reach the top on MB or top 2, and even though I don't think this one is quality lyric-wise, there are so many people who don't care...they just love Carrie and this is an angry boy-bashing song...sure to go #1 in 15-20 weeks, peaking around Labor Day at the latest I'd say...that gives her a long solid summer. While I agree it's not that great of a single, it's the obvious choice because she knows what mainstream wants and she is still capable of also blowing them away with a beautiful ballad. Carrie will keep going to the top.

I admit, Undo It doesn't have the best lyrics compared to other songs, but sometimes the melody, beat, and the timely hook is enough to get radio to play it. All Summer Long like Undo It, is another example of a song that , imo, really didn't have the best lyrics and ofcourse we all know how that song exploded during it's run.

I think Team Carrie is, as I recall someone pointing out, hoping that UI - with it's anthemic nature and concert feel - will drive ticket sales for the second leg/summer portion of the PO tour. I'm sure they'll follow it up with SWISLY and then everyone will stop panicking about how people will lose interest in Carrie, heh. I'm calling it now, three weeks at the top spot.

This is what I love about music. We can both enjoy Carrie and have two totally different points of view. I though Temporary Home was the worst single she has ever put it. It put me to sleep every time I heard it. I tried hard to enjoy it because I love Carrie, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't do it. Undo It was a song that stuck out the first time I played the CD and I am glad it's being released during the summer. It's a fun song that fits this time of year.
