Is there a weird audio doubling (that's the only way I can think to describe it) or echo in the live portions of the video? Almost like they didn't turn down the audio of the actual concert all the way and it's running a half second behind?
The video is kind of boring. I think the actual live video/audio would have been better; with the intercuts it lost a lot of the energy you see in the Youtube videos. I love love love her boots though and she looks great.

^ I like the echo-y effect actually :). I find the video much more interesting having both the live and background video as well. Personally, straight up concert video would have pretty boring for me (plus you can easily find them on youtube)

The echo effect is intended to show the audience singing along, I believe. I also prefer that they included both the live and background footage. I actually would have preferred seeing a bit more of the background footage, but I'm still very happy with the final product. I normally don't like live music videos, but this one is an exception.

I think the video will help sell even more tickets for her concerts. It's also a good idea to release a live footage video after you've just won the EOTY award at the ACMs. Overall, pretty good.

If you were to interview every single person who attends a Carrie concert during the rest of the year, and ask them what convinced them to attend the show, I seriously doubt you'd have anybody say the reason is because she chose to use live footage in a music video. "Gee, I figured Carrie concerts were always snooze-fests, and I'd have been bored out of my skull! But since her Undo It video shows how much fun one of her shows is, I guess I'll buy tickets!!!"
Anyway, aren't all of her concerts selling out already? How would the video help sell more tickets?? Are you going to be sitting people up in the rafters?

Anyway, aren't all of her concerts selling out already? How would the video help sell more tickets?? Are you going to be sitting people up in the rafters? All it takes is one person to say it was because of the video and your comment would be wrong. While I agree that I don't think the video itself will help sell tickets, I think they might use a piece of this video for a commercial supporting the fall leg of the tour. It wouldn't surprise me if they did that. Not the biggest fan of the video, but eh, if it means a bigger budget for the next video - SWISLY (if I keep saying it, maybe it'll come true) - then I'm all for it. The song seems to be rising pretty quickly, which I guess is to be expected. I think part of the reason this was sent out later was to let this peak later which would mean Carrie's next single (SWISLY, please) would come out in September, AFTER the Grammy deadline. I don't think Arista wants to push SWISLY (I know, still an assumption) while competing against THTBM. Just some random speculation.

Quit mentioning SWISLY; you're gonna jinx it! ;) Someone in the Play On thread mentioned that live videos feel like last singles from an era; I've never really thought of it one way or the other, but two people I've show the video to today said they couldn't believe they were moving on to the next album already since PO had just come out. One of them asked me if her album sales had tanked that badly. Wha...?

Big fan of the treatment. The mix of the background tour video and the live shots was done really well. My only gripe is putting an echo filter on the studio version to try and mimic the live vocal echoing in the arena. If you're not going to use the live vocal, don't act like you are. One or the other, please. Otherwise, a good video, I think.

Video is great, it gives you some of the affect of the live shows, along with the quality of the recorded version. Couldn't have done a concert video better imo.
BTW; Can anyone say "SMASH HIT OF THE SUMMER"???
"Undo It" climbs another spot today on the country charts, and should end this week at #23 on Billboard. All before the 'official' adds date. Also Undo It is increasing sales by the minute as it has risen nearly 6 spots on the Country itunes chart today, and is fast approaching the top 100 all genres chart.
It's catching on quick!!!!!

I think it feels like they were trying to create another song with a strong Shania-esque feel á la "Cowboy Casanova." It doesn't pull that sound off quite as effortlessly as that song did (the "uh uh uh uh undo it" feels a bit forced in particular) but Carrie is just as emphatic and commanding as she was on "Cowboy Casanova." Also, while the two songs do both feel much like a Shania song, there are enough structural and lyrical differences that neither feels like a copy of the other.
I would say that the performance and production save enough of this song's weaknesses. Compare this song to, say, "Last Name," which I thought fell flat because I just don't think that she gave it the right vocal approach. It just lacked that "oomph" that kind of song needs.

While I'm not sure Shania-esque is what they were aiming for, it definitely turned out that way. (Irrelevant, but I think CC is better than anything Shania did.) I fully agree with your assessment of Carrie's conviction in studio recordings now. Before, I think her studio deliverance was a real weak spot but she seemed to kick it up a notch this time around. I think this song succeeds at being extremely accessible to all genres more easily than CC did, though, and I think this is the best shot at crossover if they're looking for something.

The song is at #61 on iTunes! Quite impressive for me, when the video was released like two days ago.

Finally heard it, for the first and last time. Awful lyrics, terrible delivery, repellent arrangement -- I just can't imagine applying the word "music" to material like this, let alone "country music." Hope y'all enjoy the inevitable climb to #1, but this is not for me. Just really really bad. I reserve "worst ever" for songs whose message repels me, and this song isn't a message song -- so I can't call it "worst ever." But it's abominable.

Most positive review by Zazie of a Carrie song ever!!! But I agree, in that I will try to avoid the song wherever possible, all the while it marches up to #1. Probably will be a losing battle.

Maybe this doesn't make much sense...but I somehow agree that this song doesn't have good lyrics and is far from country music...and maybe I'm dumb, but...I still love it. Probably because it's Carrie!!!!!! :)

^I guess I'll pile on to the last two posts above (my Penguins have me in a grumpy mood ;) ). This is my least favorite song on the album. Every Carrie song has been #1 on my personal chart for 10+ weeks (I know, wrong forum)...but I don't even know if I can muster up enough enthusiasm for this one to spend even one week at #1 on my chart. I'm guessing I'll probably warm up to it enough in time, but for now I was rooting for any other song to be released. I just feel like this song was a Kara co-write that was forced on to the album. I'm a non-fan of Kara's co-writes to begin with. I'm even less of a fan of them in country music. I fear, as Vinman pointed out above, that this was the label's best attempt at a crossover hit. I know crossing over is in vogue these days (Lady Antebellum, Taylor) and the label's need for attempted greed will always win out, but I don't understand why some CFs have an obsession with the desire for another crossover hit. Carrie's doing more than fine, as is. If she never has another crossover it, I'd be perfectly fine with that. And as for all the Shania-esque comparisons with this song...remember that most of Shania's stuff that sounded like this flew up the country singles chart very quickly, only to burn out very quickly as well. I'm not saying the same thing will happen here (unlikely, since it's Carrie). But I do think it's a possibility. Fans of "the streak" will have a heart attack if that happens. And now that I've said all this, this song will naturally go on to spend 4 weeks at #1 and I'll have egg on my face when I have to come to back to this post And this post will demonstrate why there aren't more hockey fans in America ;)

I don't mind this song, but I do think it could have a really quick burn-out factor. I still don't really understand why Songs Like This wasn't the choice for the summer single, given that it's more country and has better lyrics (plus, to me, a more distinct sound). It's not like Carrie or her team have been seeking the cross-over (which - to me - would really be the only reason why they'd release Undo It), so I'm just a bit perplexed.

It's not like Carrie or her team have been seeking the cross-over I actually think Carrie's team might be looking for a crossover with Undo It. The song has already been added to Radio Disney and an American Idol performance is pretty much a done deal. I wouldn't be surprised if it received a Chr/Pop adds date.

"Giddy On Up","Hip To My Heart", "Still" and "Ain't Back Yet" all would qualify for worse country songs in 2010 for me so far. "Undo It" is a pretty good uptempo song for Carrie and she couldn't have timed it perfect for her to continue her #1 reign with this plus a good possibility of it being a huge Hot 100 single for her.

Among all the hate, I'll just turn it up on my stereo and jam out. I think the lyrics are pretty pedestrian (I love the chorus lyrics though) and the production on the chorus is pretty awful (until the final chorus with a drum beat alone ), but it achieves what I think it was set out to do: become an anthem and get Carrie a crossover it. I think, as someone said earlier, that it was randomly thrown in JUST as a favor to Kara and Idol and as a means for a crossover because Carrie isn't checking for crossovers anymore (at least, it seems that way).
