They should have kept the show in NY...it worked well last year. The show seems to lose its "edge" when it migrates elsewhere.

Eminem and Rihanna is one of the best along with Usher and Drake. Florence was good and JB as well. Worst: Taylor Swift I couldnt hear one word she was saying. BTW The RT VMA discussion is >>>> :kii:

This show was a waste of my time. Could have done without so much obvious lipping. Rihanna looked and sounded not her best and that is being hospitable. Em would have done better performing alone. Florence and the Machine was good and live. Usher was ok but his dancing is not as crisp and beautiful as before and he was winded. His light show was pretty dope though.
Nicki Minaj and Will.I.Am was a #Fail- they and Rihanna were the worse Oh and how could I forget the snoozefest/off key Taylor Swift- not a good look
Drake is over rated- he is NOT a good live performer
I enjoyed Kanye's song and performance- have to admit that song came out of nowhere but he's been killing it with all of this Good Friday releases.
Can't wait to see who comes out on top sales wise Super Tuesday, Nov 2!

Kanyes performance was horrible. Maybe it's just because the song was horrible. Seriously, Kanye used to be talented and clever on "College Dropout" and "Late Registration". Since then...get it together. It's worse then Power.

Chill. He killed it. Matter of fact, Gaga even killed it with her little singing part.

I think this show was better than few previous shows. Florence and the machine owned it, one of the best poerfomances ever. Chelsea was ok, better than Russel. She wasn't tgoing that hard as she usually does, I guess MTV told her to keep it down. Kanye was ok to me. I liked the stage.

Am I the only one who liked Kanye's perfomance and the song?
Eminem was nothing special, she should have not opened the show and especially since he went immediately. Rihanna sounded and looke horrible and cheap. Her and Katy were really looking bitchy everytime gaga won.

So if nobody liked Eminem to open the show then who shoud have? GaGa. I thought Eminem's performance was actually good. Since GaGa was a huge part of the show, I think she should have had the opening performance; although, it's nice to see her taking a break.

Overall, the performances were good but lacked that extra oomph. Nothing memorable really and nothing to write home about. I agree the stage was really good this time but the performers made no effort to take advantage.

Anyone think that Taylor will have an off year and Kanye will be back with a bang?
It seems to me that people are more annoyed that she hasn't let it go after a year and feel bad for Kanye... almost.

I honest think both will be on the decline sales wise. I expect Taylor to open around 400,000 and sell overall to the tune of 2.5-3 million while I see Kanye around 350,000 and selling overall in the area of 1.3-1.5 million.

The thing is. I don't think most of the people hating on Taylor were gonna buy her album in the first place. I think she'll be fine.

1. Lady Gaga - ‘Born This Way’
2. Linkin’ Park
3. Rihanna feat. Katy Perry - singing along to Drake's 'Fancy' in the audience. They looked amazing!

LA TIMES REVIEW of last night:
QUOTE:
Taylor Swift, "Stealing Innocence" (New song, and that's the believed title.)Sparkly guitar? Gone. This is T-Swift all grown up. Her new ballad, which may or may not be about Kanye West, doesn't leave much to the imagination. The performance begins with a clip of West interrupting Swift at last year's VMAs. Look, West's move was a boneheaded one, but it was also tragically overblown. Swift is no damsel -- she’s an international recording star who's selling out arenas -- and if MTV can't take its own awards seriously (see Chelsea Handler), why be shocked when the artists don't? Regardless, Swift would have been better to ignore the moment at the 2010 edition. She also would have been better off not writing this song. "Lost your balance on a tightrope," she thinly sings (bet it sounds perfect on record), her somber eyes letting you know she understands, she really does. "Life is a tough road / 32 and still growing up," the suddenly mature Swift sings. For celeb watchers, West just turned 33. "You're still an innocent," the 20-year-old Swift concludes in the chorus of this embarrassingly self-important ballad. So Swift can dispense advice and bestow forgiveness, but she still has a ways to go as an artist.
Grade: D
