well SLC will put anything released by David Archuleta on heavy rotation as soon as it is available, lol.
It's not going to make it big unless some other stations with less of a bias step it up.

Well, here's what I don't understand, and this seems as good of a place to ask as any. I know most songs by non-"hot" artists get added at low rotations, but how long does it take before they typically move up in a rotation? I assume stations do some testing of their own first, but how long do they wait before they try to get feedback and how long does it take that data to come back? Having some kind of rough idea would go a long way in helping me figure out how long it takes before its time to worry about a song's viability. Unless I'm just looking at this all wrong in the first place. HELP!!!! where's blackberryaddict when you need him?

where's blackberryaddict when you need him? LMAO! I know right, I need to go ask in Adam's thread to get him to answer. Often times, the way "little" songs like this make it big are by overly supportive stations that put it on high/heavy rotation right off the bat. SBL has one of those (KUDD in Salt Lake City). Z100 used to be really good for that but they've gotten "safer" with their adds lately. I guess it really depends on the song and the station. Thanks Rurry! That helps.

Actually, no. KUDD puts a lot of newer songs in heavy, heavy-medium or medium rotation, not just David's songs. They don't overplay their powers so they have room for a lot more songs than a typical CHR station. Their powers get about 80-85 spins per week. For the record, KZHT, the other CHR in SLC, follows Z100 now and has not added this song yet. They used to be more independent in their choices, but I think when KUDD switched formats to a CHR they got scared and started getting "safer" with their adds.

Their spins still count. It doesn't really matter who is spinning it just as long as it's keeping it afloat. I think what would be best for this song right now is a Z100 add. Or a top 10 market add, at the very least.

Yeah pretty good update but it needs to pick it up a little quicker since the album release is just around the corner.

^^66k is the total to date from all challenges, but they did get first with just over 16k for the current challenge.
Btw, this would probably be better in the album thread then anywhere. Since its not much to do with the single or radio.

Sorry I was excited and amazed - but you're right And I deleted it. Though it's amazing how people posting photos of Eddie Munster and Adam Lambert in this thread was OK when I questioned it.
Question - There used to be a Princeton, NJ station that was really good about playing requests and had a nice section for submitting and receiving emails each day listing the play times. Anybody know what station that was? I can't find it now. They played all kinds of new music.

I live in Jersey, like a half hour from Princeton and I don't know of a Princeton station...was it AC?

The Princeton station could have been AC but I remember it more as a genreless current music station sort of playing everything from current pop hits, ac, rock, maybe some urban, fairly recent oldies and even jazz? I used to love requesting there because they really seemed set up for that and willing to play requests. M magazine article about SBL including AA Kids Day performance video - the latest "fact" is that AA Kids Day was the first time David sang SBL live. Saw some bigger site make the same mistake (Examiner?). I guess it was the first performance a lot of people saw. www.mmm-mag.com/2010/09/david-archuletas-first-live-pe.html

M Mag is just a tween mag, and I see people quoting or linking to Examiner articles, but the Examiner is not in any way a real news publication. Anybody can write an article for the Examiner. I could write a glowing review of SBL for the Examiner right now if I wanted to. I'm not surprised either one would get facts a little bit off.

I checked who first said "first time" performing SBL and it was Idolator - but yeah a blog too. At least it's closer to reality than his own official MySpace bio. I shouldn't have gone there - they are still using the CFTH cover photo and added a cartoon balloon to David so he's asking people to pre-order TOSOD. The front page videos are making of Crush, and spring 2009 video blogs. And the promo pics are CFTH sing-along, the OS Shop, and Win a Christmas call from David. ugh

He has 235,000 "friends" on MySpace and I see comments for every day.
BTW - some interesting stuff in the era thread - song (ballad?) snippet from Eman and audio of a nice group number from the Celtic Christmas taping.

At this point, it needs big stations obviously. It's not gonna go anywhere unless it gets a sizable push. Sub-10 updates won't move it.
