Elevator is cute and all but as a defacto lead single? Um, no.
This is really annoying. It should not be that hard to get that kid a decent charting hit. He can sing, teen girls love him, he can sell decently, etc etc. All they need is one song. What's the problem, Jive? Dingbats.

It's not confirmed that Elevator is the single yet. Like I've said before, the song has a really catchy chorus but it just doesn't sound like a CHR hit to me. If they are really intent on releasing it I say release it to HAC only, I could see it getting a decent peak there. From what I hear this album is going to be singer songwriter oriented so it might be best to focus attention on that format anyway.

So is this song done? It's about to lose it's bullet which is a shame. Looking back at the earlier pages of this thread many thought this could go top 10. I personally thought it would go top 30. ITA with the discussion regarding Jive. They have been doing a terrible job lately. yeah top 30 was my predection too.

I spent the day singing Elevator's chorus. lol I can't help it. That thing just gets in there and you can't let it go.
I don't find it that HAC/Singer-songwriter tbh. I don't know, it's a cute pop song to me. I wouldn't mind if it did well. I may not be a huge fan of it, but I like to listen to it.

Elevator's chorus is not catchy. I don't hear catchy at all. This era is turning into a mess. SBL was catchy enough to go top 20. Honestly, though, form the sound of the title track and "Elevator," this CD is sounding awful.

I don't agree. You might not like Elevator, but the chorus is definitely catchy. I didn't think so at first but it's been stuck in my head for a while now. His fanbase is pretty split on Elevator but most of them at least admit it's catchy. And I really really like what I've heard of the title track.

It really is a matter of opnion I guess. I never found SBL that catchy but Elevator, for sure. And the chorus is easy to remember. But maybe it goes from person to person.
There's a 30 seconds clip of another track and it sounds interesting. I really liked it. Made me more excited for the album.

Yeah The Other Side of Down has a very interesting sound to it, I liked it a lot and can't wait for the full version.

If Elevator is the next best thing they have on the album, then David's A&R should be fired and the label needs to stop blowing smoke up Archie's ass and give him reality check. All the songs they're leaking are 3rd rate material that won't be able to compete for spins on pop format IMO. And i don't remember Bieber or Selena Gomez having HAC hits, so this leaves Radio Disney his only outlet. And that worked really well for Allison Iraheta......(and her songs were much stronger than what i've heard from Archie so far btw.)

I think Jive's entire radio promo department is working on Usher's releases. Everyone else gets an intern and a roll of bubble rap to give to the stations as payola. Everybody loves bubble rap.

And i don't remember Bieber or Selena Gomez having HAC hits, so this leaves Radio Disney his only outlet. This comment makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. What does that have to do with David? Just because tween artists that release music that is nothing like what David is releasing on this album don't get played on HAC, David can't? If you haven't noticed, David is releasing music this era that is completely different than what they release (SBL aside), so I don't know why you are still intent on comparing him to them. I don't agree that it's "3rd rate material". It's not overly radio-friendly, but all of it sounds quite good to me and better than most of his debut album. With SOL flopping a second single wll be an uphill battle. With Jive, every single is an uphill battle these days. Truth. I can see Elevator doing well only because it's totally out there and I think people will think its really cool cause it's unqiue In a way, it's sort of the opposite of SBL - SBL blended in, while Elevator stands out. Like I said, they need to start with HAC and if it makes an impact there, try crossing it over.

Last i checked none of them were the same person.

If Elevator is the next best thing they have on the album, If it's released as the second single, then it's most likely that this isn't the next best on the album. Let's remember this is Jive handling an Idol artist. The Truth, Scars, SOS

I don't know. I started off sort of liking Elevator but it really grew on me. Like it more than the OSOD clip, even.
One more thing I'd like to say is that I hear what's on Top 40 radio and Elevator is (IMO) as catchy as and less annoying than much of what's out there.
I wish David luck. He's a different voice out there and he deserves a chance to be heard.

Love that clip of TOSOD. The part where he slips into head voice on "I"...

I still love this song! Sad that the radio stations didn't spin it.
