Sometimes I think I saw a different Kristy on Idol, because I always liked her performances and thought she had a very beautiful and powerful voice. Did anyone see her rendition of Martina McBride's Anyway? I loved it! And I loved the line about singing anyway even if people forget you afterwards. I could definitely sense a lot of emotion in that. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HkttP1sMiUAnyway, I don't really like this song... I was hoping she would come with an Anyway type of song. Still, I wish her the best.

I'm impressed at how well their latest album sold considering there was no hit single. Good sellers!

Oh my, this is taking the slow route. I've seen some people claim it's too pop for country radio. Could it be this the reason for the slowness of this? Well, I hope it picks up, it's a great song.

I think she should put SH's and CR's best songs on 1 CD and release that internationaly. I think Before He Cheats should definitely be the 1st single WW and then she could release So Small, Some Hearts and Last Name.

She kinda reminds me of Fiona Apple, but a little bit more upbeat. Anyway, her album is decent, but this song is not a good follow up for Love Song at all. She should have gone with a ballad IMO.

Holiday album!
from Billboard:
Sheryl Crow In A Holiday Mood On Upcoming Album Sheryl Crow Julho 04, 2008 , 1:30 PM ET Gary Graff, Detroit The lights and candles and wreaths were out in Sheryl Crow's Los Angeles living room-in mid-June. Christmas came early in Crow's world this year because of an as-yet-untitled holiday album she's recorded with producer Bill Bottrell for Hallmark's annual series, following releases by James Taylor, Barry Manilow and George Strait.
It'll drop into Hallmark Gold Crown stores in September, and Crow gave Billboard an exclusive sneak peek before stashing it away until then. "We grew up singing Christmas carols [with] four-part harmonies," she says. "Christmas wasn't Christmas until the Christmas Eve service, and we all sang in the choir. It's still that way."
Crow is turning her attention back to her regular repertoire this summer, however. She's currently in Europe for festivals in Denmark, Switzerland and Italy, then returns to North America for a tour with James Blunt that starts on July 24 in Nashville. In November she heads to Australia with John Mellencamp.
She's also among the many musical artists lining up in support of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama and hopes to play some role in support of his campaign.
"I know my manager's been talking to them," Crow says. "We're just putting schedules together and figuring out where we can be useful and what they need us for. I think his message is strong and clear. It's a message we need to start to believe in, and we need to stop with the cynicism and really manifest ourselves as being a part of what's happening in this country. We let some bad things happen on our watch; hopefully we'll never repeat that again.
What sent you in a Christmas direction?
I had been wanting to do this for awhile, so when the opportunity came up I just kind of jumped at it. I love Christmas music; every year we have this ritual after the Christmas Eve service, 40 or 50 people come over the house and we play Christmas music. We pretty much rely on the same Christmas music every year, and every year I've said, "I'm gonna make some Christmas music of my own." There's been lots of amazing Christmas records that have come out, but where Christmas music is concerned there's always room for everyone.
Given your friends and associates, Christmas Eve at Sheryl Crow's sounds pretty intriguing. Does someone get taken to task if he or she hits a bad note?
No, no, no-that's to be expected. That's what we call art, interpretation. [laughs]
What kind of approach are you taking with the release?
The album is just gorgeous. It's kind of a humble record; it's very sweet and innocent and a little bit of a throwback to maybe the '60s or '70s in production. It's definitely a departure from any Christmas record I've ever heard.
And the repertoire?
There's just a beautifully lush, kind of soulful version of "Oh Holy Night." And "All Through the Night," which is a traditional carol, actually; [Bottrell] put together a beautiful suite arrangement, which is a little bit of a departure from the stoic hymn version. But the lyrics for it are fantastic. And then there are just a few songs that are fun and everybody loves them-"Merry Christmas, Baby" and "White Christmas" and stuff like that.
Do these selections reflect your own favorites for the season?
They do, but also a lot of them we picked for the appropriateness of the time we're going through. We've got a lot of young kids who are overseas and away from their families. So we're doing "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and "The Bells of St. Mary," because they're about somebody being away. And also Bill penned a song called "Hello, Friend," which is about people coming back together at Christmas, which I think is really poignant.
How odd is it to be recording these songs in June?
It's weird, but any Christmas season I've had out here has been very similar. It's never been chilly when I've been here, or rainy. It's mostly been sunny, the Christmas seasons that I've been here. That's just Christmas in L.A.

My problem with this song is that it seems to have no real melody, it's just a bunch of lyrics thrown together. It's VERY boring.

I like her. Her rendition of Anyway was very heartfelt, I thought. I look foward to her single.

from Brad Paisley's website: June 27th, 2008 - Darien Center, NY Tonight, we did a show at the Darien Lakes Performing Arts Center, which I have to say, is a very cool looking venue. It has this huge tent covering the reserved seating. They project colors and shapes up on it, giving off a great vibe. During the acoustic set, Jewel came out to join Brad in singing a rendition of Merle Haggard's “That's the way Love Goes.” They brought down the house! We have a few more surprises up our sleeves throughout the tour, so make sure you make it to a show.

Troublemaker sounds like a good single. I'm not really into the new album, I really don't like that song that goes "sorry" all the time, but it still has some nice little tunes.

With the Brad Paisley tour going on, I'm confidente these sales will stabilize. I've read some Brad fans saying they went straight to the store to buy Jewel's album after seeing her concert.

My favorite to this day is still Pieces of You. I think what Jewel created with that album was pure magic, something that may never happen again. It was the soundtrack of my teenage years and I found relief and guidance in it, believe it or not. It'll always have a special place in my heart.

If you like Perfectly Clear, I definitely think you'll like This Way and Goodbye Alice In Wonderland, as they both are kinda country. You should check Pieces Of You and Spirit for sure though. And when you want to listen to upbeat and pop Jewel, go with 0304! Oh, and by christmas time, just play Joy, Jewel's xmas collection, and you'll be right in the mood.

I mean, she's 15 years old. I think her album should reflect who she is, rather than having "adult", "mature" songs that will only make her look foolish IMO. Case in point: Jojo.

This is the song on Jewel's new album that is generating the best reception by critics and fans. I personally love it, it's truly a good country song. What you guys think?

Underneath was a very poor 1st single for this album. I have listened to it and I must say it's her best since SFIJ. It has some good songs and the production is interesting. In Praise Of The Vulnerable Man should have been the 1st single. The mood reminds me of One, in SFIJ. Citizen of the Planet would have also made a much better impact as 1st single than Underneath. I mean, if you're going to release a single that clearly won't do anything on radio, you might as well release something interesting...
Just to add: her label has ALWAYS sucked hard in choosing singles. Why So Called Chaos was not a single is beyond me.

I understand what you were saying. I just took her "seductive" looks more as a way of challenging the guy to play the love game with her. And well, it worked. I actually really liked the video, I hope people will understand it.

^^Really?? Oh well, haha, I saw nothing pornish in there... Anyway, I liked the video! It was interesting and decently shot. As always, Jewel looks gorgeous and I think it fits well the tempo and mood of the song. Hopefully it will be a hit! You can also check it on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=z42jA3OOECc

Congratulations Jewel for debutting #1 on the country charts! Plus, she starts tonight on the Brad Paisley tour!
Billboard: Jewel's first country set, "Perfectly Clear" (Valory Music Group), moves 48,000 to debut at No. 8. It also bows at the summit of Top Country Albums.

Not quite. Perfectly Clear is a very old song and has always been known as Studies In Love #12 (Jewel herself used to call it this way). For this album, she decided to finally name the song and also used it to title the CD.
