Jewel posted on her website about the wedding :
Married!! Posted in From Jewel on August 15, 2008
Hi everyone!!! Well, I guess you have heard by now that Ty and I eloped and got married!!!! We just got back from our wedding and honeymoon, and I'm headed to my next show- St.Louis tonight!
So, here's all the dirt....
Ty asked me to marry him the day after we shot the video for "I Do". It was my birthday, and I was so surprised!!! I wrote "I Do" about me and Ty, of course. We have sort of been teetering on the edge of this for some time- but not really talking about it. I could just feel us both sort of contemplating and weighing everything out. And that's what I wrote the song about. How dangerous and serious it is. A Game Until Its Played was a line I wrote in a poem several months earlier, and it struck me as a good start to the chorus. Ty and I have seen failed love, failed marriages, divorced family, broken hearts- all of the risks- all around us our whole lives, and marriage and children were something we take so serious. Tying our lives to one another forever, and what that involves, is no light matter! As beautiful as love is, we have always looked at it like a wild animal- beautiful, but deserving of a healthy respect ‘cause it’s also potentially very dangerous!
So I wrote the song one day as all this was running through my mind and heart, about being on the edge, and wondering if he would jump in!
So, I wrote the song last year, and it became my second single this May.
We shot the video, and headed home where he proposed to me May 23rd. I said yes of course! We then looked at our schedules to see how soon we could get married, and the soonest I even had 3 days off in a row wasn't 'til august. We decided to elope, because it would have been too short notice to organize all the family and friends scattered around the world. Plus we wanted it to be intimate and private, with no paparazzi, and the only way to really do that was to elope. We knew our family would understand, because they know us so well and know how private we are and how bad we hate organizing parties! Plus I knew our families would just be so happy we finally got married, that they wouldn’t care how we did it!
So, Ty gave me a leather strap with a key on it, instead of a ring. (A diamond would have given us away) and I would wear that on my left hand. It was really fun to have our own little secret that just we knew about. I'd wear it on TV shows- like Nashville star- and folks would ask about it- and I'd just say it was the key to Ty's heart... :) Well, august came fast! Even such a small event was a lot of work to organize- especially as a secret!
My old key board player Jason Freese (he's in Green Day’s band now) and his wife were at my San Diego Brad Paisley show, and he mentioned he was a minister, that he had gotten ordained online - and that's when Ty and I decided to tell him and his wife about our plans, and have Jason marry us!! So the four of us went to the Bahamas and it was just magical... I can't even describe it... It was perfect! I loved my dress, I loved the cake, I loved our rings, and I loved the beach and the sunset.... It was absolutely perfect! I walked out to Otis Redding's song, I've Been Loving You Too Long. We wrote our own vows. Our first dance was Don Williams’ I Believe in You, and then we sat down to eat- by this time its dark, and suddenly we hear fire works! As a present, the hotel had a boat just off shore explode 20 min of the most amazing and huge fireworks I have ever seen! And we danced as they exploded! It was like a fairy tale!
The next day we ate a great dinner at Nobu and celebrated with the hotel at the club (they are so nice there that it’s fun- the club and the hotel made pulling the whole thing off possible- and they went above and beyond making it magical- so it was fun to hang with everyone and have a drink and relax and soak it all in!) I got to take pictures with lots of fans that night at the club (does anyone have a fan pic from that night?)Was anyone there that night that's online with us?) The next day Jason and his wife Amy, Ty and I all got on a yacht we rented, and we headed out to sea! It was so relaxing. Finally alone, and quiet, I really got to enjoy myself- I had to keep pinching myself! We explored deserted islands, snorkeled, ate such good food (the cook on the boat was amazing!) I will start to post some pics over the next few weeks- but I just wanted to check in with you all now that I'm back in the United States, a married woman!
I will see some of you this weekend on tour- its going to be so fun to sing I DO tonight- with a whole new meaning!
More later, but that's all for now, xx jewel (AKA Mrs. Ty Murray!!)

^^You really think that? IMO she has always had a tendecy to release wrong singles and I think this time she's doing it much better than before. Take Goodbye Alice In Wonderland for example: Again and Again first and then Good Day?? When you have the radio-ready hits Only One Too and Drive To You?? Or the album This Way - Break Me and This Way after Standing Still, and she doesn't even release one of the 3 strongest songs of her life (Serve the Ego, Love Me Just Leave Me Alone and The New Wild West)?? And I could go on, hehe...
I think Stronger Woman was the perfect 1st single and it did very well for her. I'm not sure I'd go for I Do as 2nd either, but I like it and I think it's a grower and has very low burn rate. I just hope it can connect with people and radio programmers...

^^ I'd love to but so far I can't, cause it's a hard business and since I'm a nobody, I kinda have to protect myself... But I'm working on it, hopefully I'm gonna put a demo out soon.

Someone said it and I agree, her album reminds me of Miseducation of LH. Not as good though - I could go without the reggae songs.

Ok, this is kinda funny, but I wrote a song the other day that I'd like to send to Jordin, hehe, I think she'd be perfect for it. I understand it's almost impossible to talk to her, but you never know. Anyone have any sort of contact with her or her management?

The song grew on me a bit, but, as I said, it's not an imediate song. The lyrics seem a lot personal, which is always good.

I love Jagged Little Pill and Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (this one is kinda of a crazy, out-there album that really works as a whole). Then I guess Flavors is her best effort after those.

wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/sarauwan.wmaI kinda like it. It's not much imediate as her past singles, it's a bit unmelodic I think. Anyway, as much as I love Sarah, I doubt this will do much for her.

Cool! I won't by this mainly because I have prettymuch every album from her, and, yeah, my favorite songs are not the singles anyway. I think this could do quite well for her actually, and I can't wait to her the new songs! Maybe she's pulling a Jewel (0304) with U Want Me 2, hehe..

Now that Jewel and Ty finally tied the knot, could it generate a bit of a bust in I Do's airplay?? The timing is sure perfect, I must say, hehe...

Well, IMO, Underneath was a terrible first single and is one of the most uninspired song on the album. I never thought it would go somewhere and I can't believe they released it... They should have gone with Citizen of the Planet 1st, get some people talking, different sound, they could even push for Alternative spins, maybe, but I'm sure it'd get somewhere and help sell a lot more albuns then Underneath... Then they could go with Not as We.

Jewel gets married! www.people.com/people/article/0,,20217806,00.html Jewel Gets Married! The singer and her longtime boyfriend, rodeo champion Ty Murray, eloped to the Bahamas and exchanged vows in a private ceremony Thursday night, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. "She wore a traditional wedding gown, while Ty wore his favorite blue jeans, white shirt and cowboy hat," says Jewel's rep. "The couple is very happy and look forward to enjoying their honeymoon." The pair, who never announced an engagement, have been together for ten years and share a 2,200-acre ranch in Stephenville, Texas. Murray, 38, who hosted Ty Murray's Celebrity Bull-Riding Challenge on CMT last year, currently stars in the video for his wife's new country single, "I Do." At a charity event in Nashville days before the wedding, Jewel, 34, said of marriage, "It's something that needs to be taken seriously." Just last year, she told PEOPLE that she and Murray were in no rush to wed. "We don't know if there's a point – we've lapped our friends who've gotten married and divorced," she explained. "We probably would if we had kids – we're just not sure we want them yet. But we've had something really special already."

This is really unfortunate. Jewel went all out to promote this, just finished Nashville Star, is touring with Brad Paisley, has a recording company that's really behind her and this one still has not reached top 40... I hope it can rise again and at least go top 20 but I don't know anymore... I think their best bet for a 3rd single is probably Til It Feels Like Cheating, though IMO they should release Perfectly Clear.
On a whole different thing, Ty Murray, Jewel's boyfriend, is supposed to be in the next Dancing With The Stars. Jewel said recently in her website that she was invited to do a big show after Nashville Star, but she turned it down because she's too tired and needs some rest. Maybe they asked her to do it also. Anyway, I'm glad she didn't do it, but it might be fun to watch Ty dance...

Dan Huff is a good producer. He did Jewel's This Way album, which is very country-ish, and some of the songs have really good production.

Rihanna was a good add to the track, she really has blossomed as a performer, judging by the video. Still, Adam (is that his name?) always look bored and like he doesn't want to be there. It's rather annoying actually and makes me not want to see it again.

Well, this seems to be over. Any word on 4th single?? EDIT: just found something interesting... Could it be that there'll be no more singles from Waiting in the country? kevinoliver.wordpress.com/2008/07/13/patrick-davis-comes-home/Two weeks prior to this evening’s concert, Roger, Patrick’s younger brother, was involved in a fatal single-car accident, a tragedy that Patrick talks at length about on his Myspace blog. He thanked the community for the show of support they had given the Davis family in the past two weeks, and then he played, “Where I’m From,” a song written about Camden which could apply to a thousand small towns, that will be one of the first two singles from Jason Michael Carroll’s upcoming album. There’s a version of it on Patrick’s Myspace right now, if you haven’t heard it.After the song, the crowd not only applauded, but gave the town’s favorite son a standing ovation, heartfelt and sincere as only a small town crowd full of people you know can do it.
