He says his name at the begining of the song, doesn't he? LOL, I was about to say that.

Wow, this is underwhelming for Adam Lambert. I expected a song to showcase that infamous scream he had on the show, or a song with rock edge. This song kinda falls flat from that. I mean, it's a decent song, but it doesn't scream "Here I am ready to take on radio."

I really like this song. It made the top 20 on my chart this year. It was also a free download on iTunes in the late spring/early summer.

I liked her better when she didn't take herself so seriously and sang songs about Umbrellas and stuff. Yes, we all love artists that are completely carefree and sing about random objects you find in a closet. Substance in a song? NEVER!

9 is quite a few for November 1st. A lot make the flip right after Thanksgiving, and that's still 3 1/2 weeks away. I suspect that since Thanksgiving is late this year, many more will switch the week of or even the week before.

Ugh, whatever. This is the way most people here look at it. I'm sorry you don't. I really don't feel like arguing. No it's the way you and some others think of it. This isn't an argument as much as it is a way of understanding how people measure chart success in record books. I think it's a perfectly fine discussion to have, and to dismiss me as some fringe member (of which I certainly am not) is not helpful. But I do agree that this is going off-topic, so we'll leave it for another more appropriate forum.

Wouldn't it make sense to just compare spins/# of stations. I think that's an acceptable way of measuring things. Of course, would it be spins per stations playing the song, or spins per total number of stations on the panel? My thought is that it would be the latter. Of course, there are situations where there are a few stations playing, say, an HAC-leaning song. Or the limit where, say, 1 station is playing a song 90 times a week and no other station is picking it up. That's why dividing by the total number of stations on the panel is probably preferred for that metric.

It was brought up in the Spinpeak thread that 'Lady Marmalade', in comparison, actually did worse than most, if not all, of the #1 songs 2005 onwards if we're going into spins per station or something to that effect. It was even brought up in that thread that you would come in and mention 'Lady Marmalade' having the most spins. It's here: pulsemusic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pop&action=display&thread=83661And I'm not trying to knock the LM spins at all, because 12,175 spins is an accomplishment, but when you look at it in a certain perspective, it's not what it's cracked up to be. The sizes have changed, but they aren't as drastic as the change from then to now. I think it's fair to say that 'Lady Marmalade' holds the spin record for that era, while 'Poker Face' holds the record for this one. Kind of like how 'One Sweet Day' is the record holder for most weeks at #1 in the 90s, but 'We Belong Together'/'I Gotta Feeling' are the record holders of the 00s with 14 weeks each. I personally don't think there is a "record" for most spins, because a ton of factors go into it. If you want black and white, then LM is the record holder, but it didn't do nearly as well as, say, Poker Face or I Gotta Feeling. Just how it's arguable that IGF did better than PF because they had less stations than PF did, even though they had about 100 less spins. You mentioned a spin record, not a record of spins per station, in the original post that I quoted. Second, your definition of "eras" is completely arbitrary because the panel in a year's time can change 4,5,6 times. So, then, it is pointless to mention any "record" of any kind whatsoever as you have no "constant" that you want to define for that record.

But the panel is different now than it was when Poker Face was on the chart and its different than when Just Dance was on the chart. So, if that's the case, then we can't claim any spin records. Ever. Nor can we claim most weeks @ #1, most weeks on the chart, etc. Heck, that goes for the Hot 100 too. The methodology changed throughout time. So no one can claim records for that as well? You're right about the spin records, but how would a panel change impact weeks at #1? Weeks at #1 is an accomplishment measured relative to the other songs on the chart at the time, and if there is a panel change, all songs on the chart go through the same panel change so the playing field is still equal amongst those songs. Spin count is irrelevant in that situation. That's not necessarily true. For example, a panel could gain more RHY-leaning stations, favoring certain songs over others.

Lady Marmalade holds the spin record on CHR/POP. So unless this song surpasses 12500 spins, then it won't set any spin record. LM doesn't count in this situation, being the panel was completely different back then. Two different Mediabase eras. You know this.

Surpassed both 'LoveGame' and 'Just Dance' in CHR spins. It's 670 spins away from the 'Poker Face' peak of 11,112, which is the record. This has potential to become both her biggest hit and the record-breaker for most spins. Lady Marmalade holds the spin record on CHR/POP. So unless this song surpasses 12500 spins, then it won't set any spin record.

I don't know why people are expecting that much, especially being there was practically no set. It's her single from her Greatest Hits compilation. I was certainly not expecting anything beyond that. It's great for what it is and is arguably just as good if not better than a lot of other GH videos. Plus, this is loads better than Amy, Radar, and Break The Ice. (I liked 'Gimme More' ) This excuse of being from a GH CD is silly. The point of a video goes way beyond selling CDs - it is supposed to invoke people to like and listen to the SONG itself. This video does nothing for that - it has the same premise as the Gimme More video. That is, let's just put some sexy dance stogether with words of the song and hope for a great result. Well, in my mind, it's a fail. Secondly, other GH hits with "new" songs had at least more inventive videos. I mean, let's consider Keeps Gettin' Better. That song wasn't an airplay smash, but the video at least told a story with the song. It had an actual "theme", not just people dancing and hanging on a pole with random closeup shots of the artist. Look also at "These Hard Times" by matchbox twenty or Backstreet Boys' "Drowning" or also other examples of a nice video for a good song off a GH album. Those videos evoke emotion either via setting or their characters. This video embraces none of that but is instead random dances. All in all, this video fails on multiple levels and again, I think it will do nothing to move airplay or single sales.

Ugh, there are 3 songs with >10000 spins each and 4 songs with > 9000 spins. Next week, each song in the top 5 will likely have > 9000 spins. How terrible for pop radio.

This video is so low budget and terrible. Music videos should tell a story with the song. They should have had scenes where she is at a bar picking up guys and bringing them back to a posh pad and making out. Or some big party scene where people are having fun. This video reminds me of the Gimme More video and is almost as terrible as that.
This video will do NOTHING to help sales or airplay. Very very disappointed.

The day after Halloween is infamous for AC stations to start switching over to an all-Christmas format. Who will be the first one this year?
Use this thread to post the stations that flip and when you notice them doing it.
