Well that didn't last long at all... our "dance" station here in LA is gone already... now it's an "alternative" station. I guess that will reduce the number of reporters on the Billboard Dance Radio chart. Seriously do we need another "alternative" station in LA?

Thanks for the chart! I wonder why this one lags so far behind in the magazine itself? I mean, if the 1/17 chart is already done, why not include it for the 1/3 chart date?
Interesting to see "Love Profusion" as a breakout - that would make 4 Madonna songs on at once. It's also interesting that Annie Lennox could replace herself at #1, though I am hoping Dido will sneak in for a week!

This week, In-Grid makes it 16 weeks on the club play chart in Billboard, sliding to #49. Still, 16 weeks is (I believe) the longest running song on the chart in many months, if not the entire year. Usually the #1 songs may get about 12-13 weeks on the chart, but 16 is pretty rare in one chart run.

My daughter loves this song (she's almost 4!)... it's very novelty dance, but definitely was released in the USA this year.
At any rate, as you can see, it is currently in the Top 5 on the dance airplay chart (Billboard)...

I finally got a hold of a pretty good MP3 of this - and it's quite good! It does retain much of the original feel of the song, which is great. I wish Dido would release a CD5 of this with some other mixes, like those of "White Flag" which are also good. I would buy it!

I know she was featured also on the track "Some Lovin" which was billed as Murk vs. Kristine W. Where did that song peak on the dance chart?

I haven't heard it either... but she has an excellent voice. The best news seems to be that Kristine is in full remission from the leukemia she contracted soon after her last CD came out (in 2000 I believe). She said that she had a stem cell transplant on 9-11-2001...

I will try to listen to this more, but the version I have now is over 6 minutes long and feels like 20... I really am a fan of Alicia's prior work but to me this isn't (hopefully) the best leadoff single from the new CD. I am glad that it's a laid-back sound and all, but that awful telephone call type dialogue adds nothing to the song except making it even longer!

Just like Toby Lightman, she'll have limited success on Hot AC but fail to get any attention elsewhere. My Prediction: Will Not ChartSincerely, Noah Eaton ... and just as you write this, Toby Lightman enters the CHR Pop Chart at #50! Go Toby!! And also, I wouldn't necessarily expect Butterfly to make the pop charts, as I think she "aimed higher" by going Hot AC. I wish the pop charts were more open to doing something besides playing the latest hip-hop reworks of prior hits. Maybe someday!

"Love's Divine" is probably my favorite track off of the latest album... I don't know how well it would do at pop radio, but I think it would dominate the AC chart, and maybe even do really well on Hot AC. Great song!

Yes it is a remake - she even sang it (with Frenchie Davis) on American Idol...

yes and now they reduced the AC chart to 30 positions... which means she's off the chart again. Of course the song could easily enter the Top 30 over the next few weeks. I liked the full 40 position chart because then some other artists could finally show up on the list, like Heather Small, whose "Proud" hit the 30s a few weeks ago.

very good song and singer! She had a dance remix of "Resurrection" which was incredibly good. I like "Crazy In Love" a lot too... very laid back song for the summer.

The video to me is... well a bit disturbing somehow. Don't get me wrong - I really like the song, like Jon's voice, etc. but wow he really looks like he had a lot of plastic surgery. The skin on his face is so tight it looks like it might tear. Interesting twist to have him playing the "other man" in this video though... but somehow I wasn't expecting something bordering on soft core porn in this video either! Jon are you having a mid-life crisis?!

I love it but I don't know what Amarantine is either :) And it sounds so much like Enya always does - which is good but she doesn't vary much over the years!
OK I looked it up... here's some info on that and the new CD!
- Amarantine is named after the mythical flower that never fades (hovewer, the flower's name is usually spelled Amaranthine)
- The album took about 2 years to record as Enya started to work on it in early 2003
- There is no Gaelic or Latin this time, because the languages didn't fit to any melody
- "Drifting" is the only instrumental
- Three songs are in Loxian, a language made-up by Enya's lyricist Roma Ryan, who was inspired by Tolkien's Elvish
- "Sumiregusa" is in Japanese, the rest is in English
- The songs on the new album vary from rock to the adaptation of Basho's haiku (Sumiregusa), as well as Enya's singing
- "A Moment Lost" sounds ancient-like
- "Water Shows The Hidden Heart" sounds classical
- "Amarantine" and "If I Could Be Where You Are" are Enya's personal favourites

This song rebounds all the way to #6 on the AC chart for 1/14.... now that the holiday songs are gone! He could go even higher - hope so!

Yes I have the CD - it's quite good and does bring you back to a simpler time. It's a pretty diverse mix but nothing too unexpected. That Hall & Oates sample is a bit over-used but otherwise I really like everything!

I absolutely love Jon Secada. Just Another day is my all time favorite song (tied with Lauren Christy's The Color Of The Night) Thsi song does not disappoint. If I ever met Jon I'd shake his hand and to quote ABBA thank him for his music :) OK Wow this caught my eye. I really like Jon's music and JUST ANOTHER DAY is one of my all time favorite songs (I never get sick of it) but then I saw you mentioned Lauren Christy!!! I have to say my favorite is "Steep" from her but her whole debut CD to which "The Color of the Night" was then added is just incredible. Of course she did something completely strange and different with her 2nd CD "Breed" and then of course she formed THE MATRIX and now they even wrote the new Shakira song... but anyway that was so interesting how you mentioned both Jon and Lauren together... I'm in So Cal too BTW... :)

The top four Hot Adult Contemporary artists are Dido, Twain, Crow and Martina McBride. Rounding out the top 10 is an all-male list: Five for Fighting, Josh Groban, Michael McDonald, Matchbox Twenty, Train and Seal. That's a reversal from last year, when the only females in the year-end AC top 10 were Avril Lavigne at No. 4 and Michelle Branch at No. 9.
Although Dido's "White Flag" never went to No. 1 on a weekly AC chart, it is the top title of 2004 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Singles & Tracks recap. It's the first time Dido has had the No. 1 AC song of the year. In 2001, her song "Thank You" ranked No. 4 for the year, and in 2002 the same song ranked sixth.
The top five of the tracks chart is fleshed out by Crow's "The First Cut Is the Deepest" (A&M/Interscope), Five for Fighting's "100 Years" (Aware/Columbia), Uncle Kracker Featuring Dobie Gray's "Drift Away" (Lava)¡Xwhich was also the No. 3 AC song of 2003¡Xand Shania Twain's "Forever and for Always" (Mercury/IDJMG)¡Xagain, a chart-topper last year, which finished 2003 at No. 10.
Notably, "Drift Away" continues its seeming endless hold on AC playlists, preparing to begin a third year on the chart. By the turn of the calendar into 2005, the song will be approaching 100 weeks on the survey. But the achievement is still shy of the all-time record of 124 weeks on the weekly AC chart by Savage Garden's 1999 smash "I Knew I Loved You."
Likewise, hits by Michael McDonald, Dido, Crow and Matchbox Twenty also have logged more than one year on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, illustrating the format's plodding turnover rate for new music.

"Miracle" was recently certified platinum. I would assume this combines all the formats (book, regular CD, and special edition CD). Still not sure how many she actually sold... but at least it shipped a million. That being said I love "In Some Small Way". Why is "Beautiful Boy" suddenly bulleting on AC? Delilah?!

I hope what ever it is does very well so that "Miracle"?can sell over 1 million copies.?It looks like it may not even go gold. It's certified gold at this point... platinum is not out of reach, but it may take a while! Actually I am expecting her Christmas album to be recertified at 5x platinum before the end of the holiday season.

Are you kidding? NO ADDS? Did it actually go for adds? This is the most obvious AC #1 hit I've heard in a long time! Something must be up...

Hey... I got my import copy of her CD "A Wonderful Life" today and I'm really liking it so far! It's great to finally hear "The Last Goodbye" as a full song in CD quality!
Unfortunately this CD has some really bizarre Sony Copy Protection scheme on it and I cannot rip the songs out into mp3s. Dang it!
Any word on an official album release date in the USA?!

I just searched for an mp3 of this but instead got a version done by "Secret Garden" from their 2002 album "Once In A Red Moon"... It does sound quite a bit like Josh's version that I heard from the links here. I didn't realize it was a remake. Then when I searched on Secret Garden's CD on Amazon, this is what the review says:
"Highlights include the gospel-fueled, Josh Groban-like "You Raise Me Up," sung by Brian Kennedy (Riverdance) and fittingly conducted by Steven Mercurio (musical director for Andrea Bocelli)."
Hmmm... interesting how they made this connection back in 2002!
