Billboard has their Hot 100 chart up now. I LOL'd when I saw that the picture accompanying "Gonorrhea" is not Lil Wayne, but Madonna. I know Billboard screws up when pairing pictures with songs sometimes, but this one almost seems deliberate. Nothing else is mismatched.
On a different note, I love the back to back "Only Exceptions" at #25 and #26

I finally realized what song "Breakeven" is -- I'd been hearing a generic M.O.R. pop/rock tune at the gym for months that I assumed was called "Falling to Pieces." Artists make it rather difficult for people to find their song when they name it something other than the song's hook.

Whats Americans never ending obsession w/ that kind of dumb down, souless music? Please save it. Europe is no better with their obsession with people like Robby Williams getting popular....not to mention all of that stinking god awful Eurotrash dance music and their obsession with novelty songs.

lmao!! My thoughts exactly. The poster- who besides his rambling smack talk also couldn't spell, probably thinks a song like "Laffy Taffy" is as innovative as a Beatles song.

There are other examples of someone being displayed as an artist with whom they were once featured, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

2. Glee almost had 4 consecutive songs with them holding the 52,53,54, and 56 spots on the chart.

Scratch that - Is this the ONLY hit in 47 years by an Asian act? A. R. Rahman and Wonder Girls both spent time on the charts in the last few years, to name two.

When the poster said "Asian", I think they referring to what you might consider "oriental" and not "south east asian" like Indian/Middle Eastern. The term "oriental" is considered offensive in the US, but in the UK that is how they differentiate the two. In regards to that, I can't recall any 'asian' act impacting the Billboard Hot 100 chart in recent history, other than maybe Charice with Pyramid (isn't she Filipino?), and that song for some odd reason didn't really go anywhere. The last one who had major success that I can think of is the one who sang "Sukiyaki" back in the 60's.

Correct, kingofpain.
It has always amazed me that over the course of 60 years, there has literally been only a small handful of acts that have charted who are "oriental". I mean, think about it: Isn't it incredible? And I've never heard anyone talk about it!

If we're counting members of groups there's: - Towa Tei of Deee-Lite who hit no. 4 in 1991 with "Groove Is In th e Heart" - James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins - Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park who's half-Japanese

Well, Bruno Mars is part-Filipino. Cassie, Nicole Scherzinger and apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas are of Filipino descent as well.

Like a G6 - Is this the biggest hit in 47years for an Asian act? Scratch that - Is this the ONLY hit in 47 years by an Asian act? The only hits ever by an Asian act are Pink Lady's #39 hit "Kiss in the dark", which was 37 years ago and Kyu Sakamoto's #1 hit "Ue wo Muite Arukou" 47 years ago. However, "Like A G6" was not a solely Asian effort as Cataracs and Dev, as far as I'm aware, are not Asian. Also, Bruno Mars, Nicole Scherzinger, Cassie and apl.de.ap may or may not be included for two reasons. on being that the status of Filipino as Asian or Pacific Islander -- which as defined by the United States Census Bureau are two entirely separate races - is debated. Aside from apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas (who is only a part of a much larger group effort), none of these artist are full Filipino. So given that A. none of the acts are fully Filipino and B. the acts partial Filipino heritage may be void when talking about Asians, I think the evidence is too uncertain to use. I don't mean to offend any Filipinos - I'm just stating what the US Census' stance on the issue is. Aside from that, the Filipinos that I know actually really prefer being called Pacific Islander and often get offender when called Asian

^ Actually, even apl.de.ap is of mixed heritage. His dad is an African-American soldier who got based here back when the American bases were still set up.
But yeah, thanks for raising that one up. I'm a Filipino myself and that was an eyeopener as to how other Filipinos perceive themselves as being a part of a certain race. ;)
OnT: Wow at the 2 "The Only Exception" tracks charting side by side!
