I wouldn't be so sure of high sales for Rihanna. Her first week sales are always underwhelming. I think she'll do about what she did with Rated R. Nicki is hard to predict - I mean I thought Bruno would've cleared 100k easy but obviously not. I'm thinking she will do just under or just over 100k. I agree, especially on Nicki.

I think Rihanna will end up with about 150-200k. She hasn't proven herself to be a big album seller with huge debut weeks. I wouldn't expect big sales for her in her debut week. She's got a big hit right now, but I don't see "Only Girl" making people want to go out and buy the album. Frankly, IMO "Russian Roulette" is more of an album-selling song than "Only Girl," because "Russian Roulette" was a good song and a little different, it made me curious as to what the rest of the album sounded like. But that's just me.

YOUR GRILLED CHEESUS WEAKEND CHART PREVIEW No album will sell over 100k next week, but Kenny Chesney extends his lead in the race for #1, and a repeat victory, on next week's chart. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: Kenny Chesney (BNA/Sony Music Nashville) 75-80k *Toby Keith (Show Dog) 65-70k Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 55-60k *Bruno Mars (New Elektra) 50-55k Zac Brown Band (Atlantic) 50-55k Linkin Park (Warner Bros.) 40-45k *Waka Flocka Flame (Asylum/WB) 35-40k Katy Perry (Capitol/EMI) 30-35k Trey Songz (Atlantic) 30-35k Maroon 5 (A&M/Octone) 30-35k Selena Gomez & the Scene (Hollywood) 27-30k Lil Wayne (Cash Money/Universal Motown) 27-30k Justin Bieber (Island/IDJ) 27-30k Now 35 (Capitol/EMI) 24-27k *Faith Evans (eOne) 24-27k *Debuts (10/7p) Wow! No mention on David Archuleta. I wonder how he'd do. Only the projected top 15 would get mentioned here Perhaps David Archuletta's shot at being a mainstream music star is just about done? Not a bad thing or totally unexpected. Only a handful of Idol finalists in 9 years have had a meaningful music career lasting longer than 1 album

Wow! We're gonna have like 2 months of country albums being #1. Unless you're Eminem, artists might want to consider switching to country music. Country fans are the only ones still buying albums. So sad!!

This might be her first #1 album... a mess SMHWith Kanye pushing his album back and no other main competition the 16th might work great for Riri.

Bruno had a hit with BOB and has his own right now which is being purchased heavily as a single...mainly having a couple of hits and not establishing a fanbase prior to his album release. Nicki on the other hand has established a fanbase for over a year with her "barbies" "ken barbies" lol and other fans that don't fit in that category. After amassing 10+ hits (with hers and other's songs) I think it will help her sell an album quicker than Bruno

Because, while i feel like the same as you about her (don't care) she will for sure do over 100K by probably at least 5X that.

LOL Rihanna will be lucky to do 150 this time around. She has no buzz and people just arent interested.
Isnt it weird that Try Songz last Cd sold more than Rihannas RR in the firt week?

Isnt it weird that Try Songz last Cd sold more than Rihannas RR in the firt week? Not really. Trey has a more intimate connection with his fans than Rihanna does not to mention the differences in public/radio reception between "Bottoms Up" and "Russian Roulette". Trey got a really good start but I'm starting to get worried at his his week-to-week decreases. "Ready" also got got a great start but stalled majorly until about 4 or so singles in so hopefully it won't be the case for this. He deserves a platinum album.

Katy selling steadily. Not surprising. The album is going platinum easily. Just a matter of time. She has at least two more smashes to keep it selling (Firework and TGIF) I wouldn't be so sure about that. I don't think she has much more hit single potential left on her album besides TGIF but there's already talks of a re-release so maybe that will get her to platinum. I actually think Ke$ha might end up selling more.

^Good points Its just crazy with the amount of hits she has she still cant sell off her name The thing is with any artist is that shifting your sound so dramatically like that so quickly (especially considering she had really just sort of established herself with GGGB) is always a huge risk. Look at Kelly Clarkson and "My December". Prior to that, she had sold 15 million records and that album didn't go anywhere because it was too far left from what was selling. "Rated R" had a rough start but it held up pretty well thanks to Rude Boy and it could have gone further had they handled it better after that. I thought once they saw how well RB did, they would try and push more of the commercial sounding songs (Te Amo, Photographs) but they went right back against the mainstream and pushed "Rockstar" which failed for the same reason "Russian Roulette" did and pretty much killed the era. Rihanna has taken a hit because of that era so that will probably impact "Loud" initially but if she handles this era with well then I think she could get right back to where she was during the GGGB era by the end of this era. It's obvious the public will accept happy, upbeat Rihanna so as long as she sticks to that and doesn't try anything crazy then she will be fine in the long run.

Too unpredictable to add on this list with estimates

Good point but truth be told she did have her most successful era with GGGB but it was a re-release and there was a lot of hype too. Kelly made a huge mistake and I still can't understand why these artists are so out to prove their artistry...the artistry will keep your longevity (release that $ht after a few solid albums) but while you are hot you need to service the fans and not go left. off of my soapbox now Riri actually admitting that her fans don't know the real her does concern me...it makes these changes seem more gimmicky and not organic. I hope that she finally gets her #1 album and does not struggle to sell platinum. It's a shame that she is close to ranking amongst the best when it comes to #1's, top 10's so on and so forth but her most successful release went 2x platinum due to a re-release...doesn't make sense

If Bruno doesn't at least crack 50K I will pout.
I am quite impressed with Selena Gomez right now, I have to admit.

^Aren'tyou more impressed with the people buying Selena Gomez's album than Selena herself? :)
RE Kelly Clarkson- let's not act like she went in a completely different direction for My December. It was still pop- just not as accessible and radio-friendly as the Breakaway album. It's not like she went all Bjork or Yoko Ono on us.

That's not good comparison. Rated R came out in the 4th quarter. Plus Ke$ha is on her debut while Rihanna was on her 4th.
