I adore "Skyfall". It's way better than the last few Bond themes.

Yup, I like it better than the Alicia and Jack song. I feel like this film will also be better than Quantum of Solace.

And then Adele won an Oscar... She's a shoe-in for a nomination, but the Best Song category is the most bizarre and uneven category ever. The rules change constantly and there have been some glaring omissions even when they don't fill the category with five nominees. But her name is so big and respected across mediums that she shouldn't have a problem getting a nomination, and a win is certainly possible.

"21": 22.2k (9.850m)
I'm sure 'Skyfall' will bring in a few extra sales for her albums.

^ I was wondering how close she was to actual diamond sales. So only about 150K, nice. Definitely before December for sure.

Next to Lovesong, this is right up there with the worst material she has recorded.

Adele's' 'Skyfall' Blasts Onto Radio, Headed For Hot 100October 05, 2012 |By Gary Trust (@gthot20), New York and Keith Caulfield (keith_caulfield), L.A.Adele's James Bond theme song, "Skyfall," is headed for a notable debut on the Billboard Hot 100, based on a strong launch on radio and early sales projections. The song arrives a few weeks before the series' latest film, starring Daniel Craig, premieres in theaters. For 24 hours beginning at 6 a.m. local time today (Oct. 5), "Skyfall" is airing at the top of each hour on approximately 180 Clear Channel Media and Entertainment mainstream top 40, adult top 40 and adult contemporary stations (roughly 100 of which report to the Billboard Hot 100). It's the latest single supported by the chain with hourly plays, following similar launches for Rihanna's "Diamonds," Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," and earlier songs by Prince, Jason Aldean, Madonna and others. Why Radio Continues To Mine Adele's '21' for Hits Without Columbia Records' Help After the song was released yesterday evening (Oct. 4), "Skyfall" is already trending around the No. 50 rank on the building all-format Nielsen BDS-based Radio Songs chart (which runs from Wednesday through Tuesday each week). In less than 24 hours, it's garnered 10 million audience impressions. As for genre airplay charts (which run from Monday to Sunday), "Skyfall" is already No. 21 on the building Adult Contemporary chart (with slightly more than 100 plays so far), No. 40 on Adult Top 40 with (about 200) and just below No. 40 on Mainstream Top 40 (about 400). As for sales, it's difficult, at the present, to forecast how well Adele's "Skyfall" will sell by the end of the tracking week on Sunday (Oct. 7). The song went on sale early yesterday evening (after being available as a pre-order since Monday), so we don't yet know what it will sell on its first full day of availability (today). That said, the song's sales launch last night is tracking well and could point to a start in the range of 200,000 by Sunday night. Of course, that number could fluctuate wildly depending on how the song - which is currently ranked at No. 1 in the iTunes Store - will sell over the weekend. 200,000 could end up being a conservative figure, but we'll know more definitively tomorrow, once we have knowledge about the song's Friday sales. We'll also then be able to better gauge where "Skyfall" could debut on the Hot 100. Highlights of the finalized chart will be released Wednesday (Oct. 10) on Billboard's webs. www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/record-labels/adele-s-skyfall-blasts-onto-radio-headed-1007973382.story

Why wouldn't they have certified this Diamond by now? It's obvious 21 is way past 10m copies shipped by now, they could apply for certification if they wanted to, but I think they are waiting for it to actually sell 10m copies to make the press release more special. 'The 10 million selling album' sounds definitely more special and amazing than 'The 10 million shipped copies'

Has 21 had any upward movement on the iTunes chart since the release of Skyfall? I want it to sell those 150k copies left as soon as possible

"21": 24.5k (9.875m) A little under 125k away from scanning 10m. She should scan it a week before the BB year ends!

Where do the sales for "21" currently stand? Has she passed 10 million yet?

Where do the sales for "21" currently stand? Has she passed 10 million yet? She'll likely sell her ten-millionth copy of 21 the week of Black Friday. Edit - she sells 18,000 this week, bringing her total to 9.973 million - 27,000 to go. Pretty much guaranteed 10 million the week of Black Friday unless sales see a 50% jump this week.

Congratulations to Adele for finally reaching Diamond! Adele is about to join the elite club of diamond sellers. our editor recommends Adele's '21' Drops out of U.K. Top 40 Album Charts for First Time Adele's 'Skyfall' is Every Inch a Classic Bond Theme Pets Sing Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep' (Video) Adele's mega-selling "21" album continues to rewrite the record books. This week, the XL/Columbia release pushes past the 10 million U.S. sales mark in only its 92nd week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In doing so, "21" becomes the 21st album to shift 10 million since the firm began tracking data in 1991. The last album to sell as many copies in a shorter span of time was 'N Sync's "No Strings Attached," which raced to 10 million in its 43rd week (January 2001). Only one album in the SoundScan era hit 10 million faster: Backstreet Boys' "Millennium," in its 39th week in February 2000. "21" is one of only eight albums to hit the 10 million mark within two years of release (104 weeks). In addition to "21," "No Strings Attached" and "Millennium," Santana's "Supernatural" (60 weeks to 10 million), Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" (66), "The Bodyguard" soundtrack (72), Creed's "Human Clay" (93) and Shania Twain's "Come On Over" (96) all raced to the figure in under two years. "21" shifted another 28,000 in the past week, bringing its to-date sum to 10,020,000. "21" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spent 24 non-consecutive weeks atop the tally -- the most in the SoundScan era. It hasn't left the chart since, earning 80 weeks in the top 10. This week, the set moves 31-35. "21" is the third album to cross the 10 million mark this year, following Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" and Usher's "Confessions." However, those sets took much longer to reach 10 million. Linkin Park's set was released in 2000, while Usher's effort bowed in 2004. (Next in line to hit 10 million is likely Pearl Jam's "Ten," which has sold 9.98 million so far.) Amazing sales. Well they've already been amazing for some time. The pressure on her is astronomical. If she only sold 6M copies of her next album, people would be calling it a flop.

In doing so, "21" becomes the 21st album to shift 10 million since the firm began tracking data in 1991. Work that numerology, Miss Adkins

It's been exciting watching this album climb and break almost every record along the way. I wonder how much higher it can go. I don't think another 2-3 million over the years is out of the question.
