I'd like to hear people's opinion about this song in a year or so. Lyrically a pretty weak song, melody wise nothing special, just different than what we've gotten used to hearing on radio now days. I can see this song sliding off the charts fairly soon. My opinion is just as obsolete as everyone else's but looking at the quality of Kenny's music in the past compared to now days I just can't see much of his stuff doing too great anymore. It's boring just like his shows got to be the same ol thing and his beach theme got wore out. Take a listen to this song a few times and then go back and listen to let's say "There Goes My Life". The vocal in that song on the first verse still gives me the chills everytime and not to forget about The Good Stuff, Young, The Woman With You, Don't Happen Twice...I can just keep going on and on with those past great songs and passion flowing from it all. Just saying it's easy to hear his passion and just the overall passion of his production and recordings from the past. This song Somewhere With You, to me, sounds like he's just in limbo and has lost his niche in the country scene. I think he should just start acting and making documentaries instead lol.

I can see this song sliding off the charts fairly soon. Depends on what your definition of "fairly soon" is. It just completed its 8th week on the chart, and even Kenny's songs that underperform, like I'm Alive or Ain't Back Yet, tend to stay for 16~20 weeks. Somewhere With You has certainly "behaved like a future #1", with a succession of strong weekly gains, and is on target to hit the top by mid-January. Even if you believe that it will flame out prematurely, I don't see any hard evidence in its chart run to suggest that it won't be staying on the chart until at least mid-February, and a 15~17 week run.

Glad to see this moving up quick. Personally, I'd like to see this pass MS soon so Carrie Underwood crazy fans can stop bitching about MS going #1. Oooh...settling for #2? How terrible!!!

#2!!! I'm glad this passed MS. I'm a Carrie fan but I don't like that song at all. And it's so funny to watch the Carrie fans over at CarrieFans.com freaking out and going into hyperventilation that MS didn't go #1. Oh no!! Carrie's only had 3 albums out and has 13 #1 singles!!! Whatever are we going to do???

^It's not official just yet...that's from the Real Time Tracker. We won't get the new chart until Tuesday evening in the Billboard Country Update (won't get it due to the holiday on Monday).
But, it's pretty much in the bag! Should get at least 2 weeks at #1, too, with the way things are looking. This has been my favorite song on the airwaves ever since it came out! :)

Bad luck for Tim, because he'll probably keep his bullet but have to settle for a 3-week #1. There aren't too many artists who could have caught Tim with such a huge surge while Tim was still gaining. Keith Urban's poised to take over whenever Kenny decides he's been at #1 long enough. The way his songs have been going lately, I'd say a 2-week run is very likely. You never know.

^Yeah, I agree. BB #1 should be confirmed tomorrow. And Kenny did finish ahead of Tim by a slight margin on MB, too. Tim could've gotten 4 weeks...how crazy is it that his highest audience total for FGOML would come in the week he slips to #2, after spending the 3 weeks prior at #1? I think Kenny might be the ONLY one who could've done that to Tim, unless Brad or Carrie had a big new single out...or Garth un-retired. Yeah, 2 weeks is a lock, it would seem. He could get more than that, too, and I wouldn't be surprised. If Keith wasn't challenging, I could see Kenny getting 4 weeks, maybe even 5...but we'll see how long radio holds his song at the top now..

This is my favorite Kenny Chesney single since probably "Who You'd Be Today". Kenny sings this one well, production is fabulous with some good guitar riffs.

^I agree, it's one of my favorite KC songs in quite some time, probably on par with "Don't Blink" or maybe slightly above that, and you'd have to go all the way back to "I Go Back" to find a better KC song, in my opinion.
The only problem is, it's Kenny, and it's a good song, so it's climbed so fast and is already at #1. In a few weeks it'll be on the way down, and even though I've been hearing this one more than I thought possible during the past week, I'll miss hearing this one frequent the airwaves...
Keith Urban is really the only immediate challenge to Kenny. And, as much as I love Keith Urban, "Put You In A Song" isn't as good as some of his past work, and he's got some gems on his album that should go to #1. There are probably a lot of Urban fans who won't like me for saying this, but I wouldn't mind if Kenny gets 3-4 weeks at the top like Tim did...not sure he will, but it certainly wouldn't suprise me. Kenny himself gets a lot of #2 peaks, but not this time. Keith Urban gets a lot of #2 and #3 peaks, too...but we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.

Yes, I agree. The first Kenny Chesney single in a LONG time that hasn't been overplayed/ or just worn out on me after 10 weeks on the chart.

I really like this single. And it's doing very well for Kenny, which is a plus. Probably my favorite single by him in a very long time.

Kenny officially got the #1, taking his total to 19. I'm really glad this song was such a huge hit. I like Kenny's music a lot, and this has become one of my favourites of his. I can see Kenny lasting for another couple weeks, until Keith Urban gets in for a week. Since the song is still relatively new (this is its 13th week), I doubt they'll announce a new single until it falls from #1.

Does Kenny really have 19 number ones? That doesn't seem like enough for some reason. I can't turn on my radio without hearing some Kenny Chesney song.

It does seem like he'd have more, but he's had a ton of songs peak at #2...like a dozen at least, I think.
Anyway, glad to see the #1 confirmed. This song is so catchy and infectious, and I'm glad that I hear it on the radio about 15 times a day. Seriously. I just don't get tired of this one. There are a lot of good songs out there, but only the great ones don't wear out, so this one is a great song to me.
Two weeks at #1 seems to be a given. He could get more, but Keith Urban has been charging pretty good. Still, you never know. Kenny's song is indeed very young, and while Keith's isn't a fossil yet, it is older, and sometimes that last push isn't enough. But I'll be content with 2 weeks.

Kenny has had a ton of #2s though, as jhomes says. Some of his biggest hits ("I Go Back", "Who You'd Be Today", "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem") stalled at #2.

Yeah, I think he has an epic list of 10 or 11 big songs which got stuck at #2...
Anyways, that was a pretty impressive display by Kenny this week — jumping right over Tim to take the #1 spot — and still gaining. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kenny remain at #1 for multiple weeks, before Keith gets his turn.
I have a feeling "Coastal" will be the next single, and become a huge spring/summer hit...

Im surprised too that hes only had 19 #1s but I think if his album is any indication on where hes going next he could have 25 in 2-3 years.
When was the last time we had a top 4 with all megastars?

Radio is really playing the ***** out of this tune---my goodness!!
It's firmly ensconced among the five most-heavily played singles in country radio history on a SPSPW (Spins Per Station Per Week) basis; I'll have an update tomorrow.
Can someone please refresh my memory and remind me which tune prevented Kenny Van Halen's arena-rock classic 'Big Star' from reaching #1?
That thunderous tune's scintillating predecessor ('A Lot Of Things Different') remains #1 on my all-time favorite list of favorite Chesney tunes.
