Can someone please refresh my memory and remind me which tune prevented Kenny Van Halen's arena-rock classic 'Big Star' from reaching #1?
I believe it was "Have You Forgotten"by Daryll Worly.

I saw the audience for SWY is now up over 40 million on MB, and that does not happen very often at all. I'll be looking forward to your update, Marv!
I couldn't be more pleased with this song's success. I just don't grow tired of it, so I'm glad to see it's being recognized as one of the bigger hits...ever. A 2nd week at #1 is a given, but can he get more? If Keith Urban weren't there, I'd say this one could get 3-4 weeks at #1. But Keith might challenge on the 2/12 or 2/19 chart if Kenny starts to level off by the weekend..
I do want to see Keith get a #1 too, but I also would love to see Kenny get a big long run at the top.

As much as I dislike Kenny Chesney's music generally, I love this song and am really glad for him at his possible multi week #1 hit.

I like the song too -- it's part of the general improvement I've seen in Kenny's vocals and lyrics dating back to Better As A Memory. But I'm not convinced it will end the week over the 40 million mark, and I expect it to start heading down (or at least to level off) any day now. If the label pushed, they could make this a 3-week #1 -- but when is the last time they did that?

If the label pushed, they could make this a 3-week #1 -- but when is the last time they did that? Kenny's last five #1s, dating back to the aforementioned Better As A Memory, have all settled for at most two weeks at the top, so perhaps that's what they'll be satisfied with on this one as well. After gaining 0.62 mill on Mediabase for the first two days of the BB chart week, he only added 0.093 mill last night. So that might be a sign that he's reached his high audience total. But there were a couple of overnight moves that Timmy made in the past two weeks, that had me wondering that he was going to be finished, and he'd keep rebounding enough to nail down three (and nearly four) weeks at the top.

^Wow...that is really, really impressive...thanks for sharing that, Marv! I am planning to relay that over to the CCT board as well...
Question: These numbers don't change, right? They just reflect the peak SPSPW for the songs? Because in the 2006 update it showed Kenny's "I Go Back" with 43.74 SPSPW...so, my ultimate question is, is "I Go Back" still ranked 5th then, just behind "Somewhere With You" but ahead of "Jesus, Take The Wheel"?
Anyway, thanks again Marv!

Thanks for catching that; except for the figures for 'Somewhere With You', which picked up three spins for the second straight night for a new peak of 43.80 SPSPW, all of the other numbers for the other songs listed are permanent.

Kenny's second week is in the bag now, and at this point I'd be surprised if he didn't get at least one more week on top. There seems to be enough of a gap between him and Keith that unless Kenny starts to fall pretty hard this coming week, he should get a third week on top. I think "Coastal" would make the most sense as the third single, going for adds in mid-February. "Reality" would be my second choice. I like both songs a lot, but I think that only one of them will be released as a single. "Hemingway's Whiskey" is probably my favourite unreleased track, but there's no way that it should be the next single. The only way I can see it being released is as a fifth and final single to close out the album.

I like Hemingway but, as you say, I doubt it would be released, and your idea of Coastal makes a lot of sense. He can take his summery song and release it at the same time Keith Urban releases Long Hot Summer, and maybe between them they can melt some of this snow.
He could get a third week, but if his lead is only 2 or 2.5 million over Urban, it wouldn't take much for him to fall. If he loses 250k a day, even a 1 million gain by Urban would be good enough, and Urban's label seems to be promoting the song pretty strongly. We should know a lot more by Wednesday.

As much as I love "Somewhere With You" and the thought of a third week, I just don't think it will happen for once. Kenny has been basically level for the past 3 days, and he's up over 40 million AI's on Mediabase...how much higher could he possibly get? If Keith Urban wasn't there, then I'd say 3 weeks for Kenny, maybe even 4. But Keith is there. His label has had ads for PYIAS in the last 2 BCU's, too, and now Keith is scheduled to co-host CC-USA this coming weekend. I think Capitol wants him to get to #1, and have Luke Bryan follow after him. But, even though I would definitely be fine with Kenny getting another week or even more (love the song to death), I also want Keith to get a well-deserved #1. PYIAS isn't his best song, but I'm already going crazy with excitement at the thought of other songs from Get Closer becoming singles. "You Gonna Fly", "Long Hot Summer", and "Right On Back To You" are absolutely amazing and would be huge singles, though I'm not sure all of them will get released since I'm betting on "Without You" (good, but not my favorite) to become a single as well. Anyway, it's been a great run for "Somewhere With You". I would've liked even more weeks at #1, to be honest, but I'll settle for the 4th highest SPSPW number ever. Huge hit that goes beyond your typical 2-week #1 hit.

Huge hit that goes beyond your typical 2-week #1 hit. Kenny reached a new high total in spins today (5618), so I believe the new SPSPW number is 44.24 (5618 spins/127 stations). That would put it second behind Live Like You Were Dying. I do think Kenny has a chance at a third week if BNA is ready to let it go yet. It probably won't get another week with a bullet, but it could stay flat. That would make Keith work harder to get to #1, as he would need a gain of around 2.5-3 million. I think Keith is the favorite to take over #1 next week, but right now I'll give Kenny a 35% chance at a third week.

Right you are rowdawg; this song continues to build at an astonishing rate, & overtook 'Need You Now' for second place in SPSPW yesterday, after surpassing 'As Good As I Once Was' the day before.
This is shaping up to be one of the year's very biggest singles at both trades, even if it doesn't match the weeks at #1 which any of those songs enjoyed, including 20 combined weeks at #1 @ R&R/Mediabase.

Too bad there wasn't a video for this. Exactly!! Wow, I was always wanting to post this but I kept forgetting. I think they could've done a great, great video for this. Something about the last verse, where he sings "If you see me out on the town and it looks like I'm burnin' it down, well, you won't ask and I won't say, but in my heart I'm always somewhere with you" always gave me a chill, and I kept imagining it in a video seen, idk. With a fire, and maybe the guy turning over his shoulder to see the girl looking at him, but then she looks away. It could've been good. Even better than Kenny's "Anything But Mine" video. I really wish they had done one.

Mediabase audience continues to climb, and reached a new peak today of 40.650 Mill.
I thought "Somewhere With You" would do very well, but this is pretty remarkable...

Kenny is now up to 40.908 million AI's on this morning's MB update. Absolutely crazy.
I'd say he wants 3 weeks at #1, and I think he's going to get it.

^I agree. We will see Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban finish #1 and #2 for the second week in a row. P.S.: Number one in Canada for the second week.

This will be the first time we have had two singles be #1 for at least three weeks (Tim McGraw's Felt Good On My Lips and Somewhere With You by Kenny Chesney) since Chris Young was #1 with The Man I Want To Be (for 3 weeks) followed by The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert (for 4 weeks) between May-July of 2010.
