Nelly will be performing for the first time in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on 26-27th November 2010. In a recent interview she talked about a new track on her upcoming 4th English album “Lifestyle” and she mentioned inspiration for a new track: Furtado has two projects on her plate for next year, which she is hoping to promote during her visit to the Emirates. Her new album, Lifestyle – the fourth English album she has produced – will be out in 2011 and she is also releasing a compilation album called The Best Of Nelly Furtado later this month. She says the Lifestyle album is still a work in progress. She was in the studio this week – recording a Dolly Parton cover for an independent movie being produced in Montreal called The Year Dolly Parton Was My Mother – when inspiration for a new track struck. “The song I’m singing is called The Seeker and it is a gospel-influenced track. As I was singing it, a whole new idea for a track for the new album came to me and I had to sit down and write all the lyrics on my BlackBerry. That kind of thing happens all the time,” she said. CNN INTERVIEW (she confirmed new album in 2011at 2.55)

& :'( TWO NELLY ALBUMS IN TWO YEARS!? Amazing and partially makes up for the unbearable absence. I need her back in my life. 'Night Is Young' has definitely grown on me. Obviously not a hit song but definitely a solid effort for a GH album.

Nelly Furtado covering Dolly Parton. I have to say at first that sounds odd. However I was never fond of Dolly doing Gospel in the first place. I however think Nelly could put an interesting spin on it. So that should be fun.

here are some quotes from various interviews where Nelly speaks about Lifestyle:
Quote: Furtado predicts the set will be "eclectic" and influenced by the wide-ranging approach of her double-platinum 2000 debut, "Whoa, Nelly!"
Quote: "And I think there's a little bit more of an alternative influence on this new album, kind of how my first album was definitely inspired and partially influenced by 'alternative' music. I've been listening to a lot of new music, everything from Janelle Monae, the xx, Florence and the Machine."
Quote: She says the Lifestyle album is still a work in progress.
Quote: Where do you plan on taking your next studio album, "Lifestyle"?
I'm going back to the eclectic feel of "Whoa, Nelly!" So far tracks I've recorded encompass pop, hip-hop, dance, reggae and alternative-pop.
Quote: I think image-wise I’m going to be different again (laughs). If anything, it’ll be a throwback to who I was when I first came out.
Quote: We have an artist right now named Dylan Murray - he's excellent, he's Canadian. Actually, he performed with me at the PFLAG event - oh, I know what we performed! A song from "Lifestyle": a duet called "Be Okay." It's a really, really pretty song. Another duet!

Nelly Furtado Goes Back To ‘Whoa Nelly’ Sound For New AlbumNelly Furtado has tried many different sounds and styles throughout her career, and now it looks like she’ll be coming full circle on her upcoming English album ‘Lifestyle‘, after she revealed that the LP will be heavily influenced by her R&B-meets-folk 2000 debut ‘Whoa Nelly‘. She also spills some details about the collaborations on the album, including Salaam Remi again, and Passion Pit. “Definitely my first record “Whoa, Nelly!,” it has the same organic and raw feel that that record did. “Whoa, Nelly!” was influenced by artists like Beck, Oasis and Cornershop which all helped me produce this refreshing, clean pop sound that I wanted. When Track Field and I did my first album, it took us like a month to record each song, but that was then.” “I’m working with Salaam Remi, and we’ve forged this amazing friendship and musical space for ourselves, where we’re really enjoying each other’s company in the studio. So he did two new tracks on the Greatest Hits – Night Is Young and Girlfriend In The City – and we’re really tapping into something cool.” “I’m really into alternative music at the moment. I’ve also worked with Michael Angelakos from Passion Pit and I’ve been in Jamaica with a producer called Genius, trying some different styles. I think the new album will be a real throwback to [debut album] Whoa, Nelly! in terms of the eclecticism and the alternative influences. I really feel like there’s an earthiness there that’s really great.” Not only is Nelly taking it back to 2000 on ‘Lifestyle’, but she’s also hoping to bring back the carefree hippie style of the record in her fashion. “With “Lifestyle”, I’m thinking of going back to really simple. Kind of like with “Whoa, Nelly,” when it was really easy to get dressed every day. Basically I went on tour for my first album with a big duffle bag of free Puma sneakers and free clothes from Roxy, Miss Sixty, and Fornarina. I’d just wear all that.” “I’m working with Salaam Remi, and we’ve forged this amazing friendship and musical space for ourselves, where we’re really enjoying each other’s company in the studio. Don't get me wrong, I love Whoa, Nelly! but...I want a Loose progression. If she found a way to utilize both, I'd be really happy.

But i think that what nelly wants is too go back to her old self which is probally why she's going back to her old sound. I don't think we will expect anything like maneater, promiscious or Do it. But i definitely think we will expect something like All Good Things and Say It Right. Looking forward too this album.

Wasn't a big (or even casual fan) of Nelly during the Whoa, Nelly! era, so this announcement has basically killed my interest. But she should do what she wants.

Wow, sounds like she did go for the Whoa Nelly sound. Sounds great. I always look forward to her records as she is one of the few artists out there who really take pride in exploring new directions. I was listening to Folklore the other day and was just blown away about how good it is.

I prefer Folklore and Whoa Nelly to Loose. Loose was good, but so many of the songs could have been done by any other pop chick out there. WN and Folklore felt like HER sound. HER music. Only she could have made those cds.
