That'd also give her more image as an artist, not just a pop machine.

Great Numbers for Keith Urban! His last CD opened with 171K, and if he keeps it at that this time that's awesome!

Where is Josh Groban?? ??? ??? Rihanna’s fifth Def Jam/IDJ album, Loud, will debut with between 180-190k, followed by Rascal Flatts’ Big Machine debut, Nothing Like This, is earmarked for between 170-180k, the same projected total for Capitol Nashville/EMI country star Keith Urban’s Get Closer and Reprise crooner Josh Groban’s Rick Rubin-produced Illuminations.

@ Norah Jones. Didn't this girl sell 10 million once? The new album is just a compilation though, all the songs were pretty much available to cherry pick on iTunes. This is definitely a disappointment for her, but her debut still does tremendous sales year round...

A little disappointing for Rihanna, but I agree that consistency is a good thing in this market place. As usual, I expect her to have bigger sales outside the US than within. Another Plat plaque here is another certainty.
My heart almost skipped a beat reading Norah's projection though, and Nelly should have had a certifiable Urban smash to coincide with the CHR one.

The Jackie Evancho EP has more DVD content than audio content, it looks. But, of course the label would want to see it on the Billboard 200 over Top Music Videos. Im know, doesn't it have like 5 actual tracks or something like that? These reality stars are making it big. And X-Factor is coming here soon? I can only wonder what the next-big-thing is coming out from that. im not sure x factor will work. i say its a 50/50 cointoss. i think what would work best for the show is having a band/group win the first season, to shows its different from american idol. if a solo boy/girl wins it could be dissmissed as just another reality show winner. either group/band or huge star.

OMG! At Jackie, that's amazing!!! I bought it and it's AMAZING! This girl is a much better singer imo than Susan might I add. Her Vibrato is amazing, and Susan's is annoying.

1. Great numbers for Boyle. im sticking with my 2.2-2.4 million prediction for where this ends up. Maybe it could a Groban and sell huge amounts two xmas's in a row.
2. Great numbers for Glee, i still think Rocky Horror shouldve have been released, and they shouldve had a Britney Ep instead, i feel it wouldve sold much better. Maybe a little less than the Madonna one. Volume 4 will have good numbers most likley, probly will go gold. Volume 5 next year ;)
3. I think Rihanna will have her greatest sales week yet, and im happy with her numbers. I dont like you guys assuming it will go platnium. It has a good chance, but its not a guarntee like some suggest. Gold is a shoe in. Hopefully Rihannas team makes the right single choices, which they dont always do. Will be buying rihannas album tonight :)
4. Decent enough numbers for Pink. Hopefully the two other new tracks from the album make the hot 100.
5. Expected Lee and Nellys sales completley. Nelly will be lucky to go gold. Lee will struggle to get 300k, therefore making him the least selling idol. We need a girl winner please.
6. Great numbers for Kid Rock. I hope taylor can stay above 200k till the holidays are over.
7. Can someone remind me of next week's releases?

Jackie Evancho shows reality contestants can still sell (from the get-go). Idol needs something unique.

190k is about what I expected for Rihanna. Those predicting sales in the 300/400k range were just being unrealistic.
I think the lead single might be part of the problem. Only Girl may be a hit but it's not really the type of song that gets you to go out and buy an album. But I think generally she's just not a big album seller.

Keith Urban's first week draw looks great, considering "Defying Gravity" debuted with 171,000 copies and had the added benefit of debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200, whereas this may not even debut in the top five given this is most of the most competitive debut chart weeks in all memory to me. Rascal Flatts, not so much. "Unstoppable" debuted with about 351,000 units sold, and that was also a step down from their two previous album eras. And considering the heavy promotion they've went about for this record, I consider their projected figures a disappointment. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus Well, you have to consider their label changes as a factor. Even though promo is still there, different labels have different strategies. Plus, I personally haven't seen or heard much from them except for the CMA Awards last week....

Disappointing projection for Springsteen, but not surprising, I guess. Whoa, Nelly (and not in a good way). Same for Lee DeWyze and Norah Jones. I don't think the Bruce numbers are disappointing. The album is on sale for $13.99 at both Best Buy and Target.

Per Billboard, a release must have at least four songs to qualify for the Billboard 200. So, Evancho's O Holy Night will appear on the BB 200.
bigham- for previously unreleased material, 40K-50K isn't a disappointing number? Not that it would have matched his last opening, but that seems a little low. Then again, there are the box set sales, too, to consider.

^Did you read the HITS article? :) Runner-up this past summer's America's Got Talent- 10-year-old girl who sings opera rather phenomenally.

Well, he didn't sell that much yet. ;) Is "Just a Dream" a fluke hit, or will he land other hits from the album?

This is not a new studio album by Bruce. It's leftover tracks from the 70s.

Those predicting sales in the 300/400k range were just being unrealistic. ia, people like to set unrealistic predictions all the time without analyzing situations properly. they did the same to katy when TD was released and people said it was a disappointment because they were expecting 500-700k

Understood, areyouready (got the right screenname this time. ha) I just thought that because it was from such a classic Springsteen era, it may go higher. Ah, well.

LOL @ the poster(s) that said last week that "SuBo's hype is finally fading" - multiple 300k+ weeks is EXTREMELY rare. In fact, are Taylor and Em the only two who have done that this year?

I think Rihanna could have sold at least 200K-she has two massive, monster hits, non-stop promo, and is coming off massive hits this year as well. It is also close to the holidays. It just seems weird to me that she cannot break 200K even with all the cards stacking up absolutely correctly.
I thought we were supposed to be shocked and stunned with Lee's sales as well? Well, at least according to his fans.

Well, he didn't sell that much yet. ;) Is "Just a Dream" a fluke hit, or will he land other hits from the album? Fluke hit. I have his first two albums. Nothing since that has made me want to run out and buy his album.
