Kanye's "worst" rap album, Graduation, has the same metacritic score as TMMLP. OMG! Metacritic determines classics? Please. Reviews are all subjective. All Music Guide has given Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP, and Curtain Call 5/5 ratings. They have gave Kanye zero 5/5 ratings. Say what now?

Kinda disappointed by Ke$ha's numbers. Then again, it was stupid of the label to pit her against some of the biggest names in the industry. Following Animals success, they should have released the album in January again when virtually no big acts release. She would have benefited from gift card sales.
While she is a great single sales artist, she barely has a fanbase that are willing to buy her full album. Honestly, the only way Animal made it to #1 was due to Tik Toks enormous success but moreso because it was available for $6.99 on itunes (I think pre-sale). They should have approached Cannibal similarly. She has a long way to go and alot to prove before she sees big album sales.
On a side note, are all record labels complete idiots? Do they not understand this simple logic? She is going to get lost in the crowd by releasing her album at this time of the year, when everybody and their mommas release albums. Then again she's signed with RCA, one of the stupidest/laziest/greediest labels around.

They have gave Kanye zero 5/5 ratings. Say what now? I'm guessing you don't know what Metacritic is. The entire idea of "reviews are all subjective" is why they attempt to normalize scores by taking various critics' reviews into account. I'm not saying that Metacritic is a flawless system, but it's a better gauge of critical success than Allmusic, which is just one website and far more likely to be subject to the "reviews are all subjective" pratfall.

You really have to look at year-end/all-time features to gauge an album's level of acclaim. Initial reviews are fine, but don't necessarily tell the tale.
BTW, as an FYI- All Music supposedly grades albums only based on comparison's to the act's own output (not that that matters in this discussion, just saying).
Maybe the "Weakend" Update will appear in the afternoon, like it had been posted before recent times.
What will the community do when there are no HITS charts Christmas week and NY's week? :)

Kid A shouldve beaten both MMLP and Steely Dan now that I think about it.
Hopefully Kanye gets steady sales from this, he deserves it.

With Black Friday hitting, our margin of error could be a little wider this week, but expect between 10-12 titles to hit six figures on Tuesday's chart, topped by the current King and Queen of hip-hop, as Kanye West's magnificent My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday go 1-2 on the Top 50.
*Kanye West (Roc-a-Fella/IDJ) 525-575k *Nicki Minaj (Cash Money/Universal Motown) 375-400k Susan Boyle (Columbia) 275-300k Jackie Evancho (Columbia) 175-200k Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 175-200k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 140-160k *Justin Bieber My Worlds Acoustic (Island/IDJ) 140-160k *My Chemical Romance (Reprise) 120-140k *Ne-Yo (Def Jam/IDJ) 120-140k Glee Cast Christmas (Columbia) 100-120k Josh Groban (Reprise) 90-100k Kid Rock (Atlantic) 90-100k *Ke$ha Cannibal (Kemosabe/RCA/RMG) 60-70k Keith Urban (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 60-70k Rascal Flatts (Big Machine) 60-70k *Debuts (11/26p)

Well, it wasn't promoted the right way. I only knew it was out because i check iTunes every once in a while! And great hold for Ri Ri, less than 50% drop is good, even if it's on Black Friday!

I think her LABEL is following the Gaga model with a huge re-release single that really helped her sales after releasing during a similar time period. I say LABEL because labels look at business models for other artists all the time and if someone construes what I am saying as Kesha herself is in any way copying Gaga I am automatically judging you for not reading. I think the timing and promo was a bit off though. WRWWR isn't at the level Bad Romance was when the cd was released, the video hasn't been released and its supposed to be epic, the promo and hype wasn't built quite as much. I still think it will end up doing fine for her. The video is out soon, she has some promo coming up, the EP is getting GREAT feedback, WRWWR is growing fast in airplay, and now she has product out for all the holiday sales which will certainly add nicely to her total. First week sales are not always indicative of the overall success of a project especially in her case where everything is still building rather than fading.

I really hope Taylor gets 200k. Would be incredible.
'Cannibal' shouldn't have been released separately. It should have just stayed as a re-release. Plus, that way she could have gone back and released the better material on 'Animal.'

Or the Canibal release is also packaged with the original
If people bought the expanded original instead, it would not register as an EP sale

I figured if the Deluxe was selling really well they would have predicted it. I suppose another 30-50K would still be a great total. She could still push over 100K units over the week with the EP and Deluxe combined depending on the final totals.

Rihanna might actually do a bit better than expected, the album was on sale at Best Buy for $6.99 due to Black Friday, but I doubt it will be enough to pass Taylor/Jackie...

Great sales for Kanye, Nicki and Rihanna. Many didn't know Cannibal was even out... like it wasn't even really advertised. Yup. She'll probably sell about 100k combined with the standalone EP and the "Animal" deluxe which is good.

I have to say, Susan Boyle had an amazing hold - that's what I am most impressed by. Talk about consistancy.

In general, Thanksgiving week softens second-week declines for most albums, so something to keep in mind.
Will Christina Aguilera break the top 20?

What is that Bieber release? It wasn't even listed on HITS' releases for 11/22 (from what I recall).

Taylor needs to be pulling bigger numbers if she wants to beat Eminem.
SuBo will probably do about what Bocelli did last year 2.1-2.3 million scanned.

I don't think Taylor's obsessed with beating Eminem. I'd be fine with waiting for part of the way into 2011 for her album to become the highest seller released in 2010.

Holiday album or not, those numbers are amazing for a third week of sales. Where were those posters a few weeks ago saying "SuBo's hype has finally faded"?
