Speak Now could be the biggest selling album of 2011 if it has a similar run as Fearless. She just needs some hit singles.

Honestly (and not hating) I don't see this album having a YBWM type of single (that single was what basically pushed that album to sell 2-3 million). I think she will do between 3.5-4.5 this time around.

I think Rihanna could do better by just selling EP's and not albums.

Lee DeWyze should have named his album "Fail It Up" It's such a mess. At times, I really wonder if they should even continue doing American Idol given that the winners that are selected continue to be worse and worse (depending on who you ask). And the people of America voted for this guy. Now votes don't necessarily translate into sales. Perhaps the public didn't know about him having an album out that time and they may have been another factor in that. [/quote] They take too long to release their albums. IMO the top five should all start recording songs and the last person should have their album released the night of the finale. The hype would def. generate sales. The funny thing is, there are millions of songs sitting on producers shelves that are waiting to be used. I actually read an article about how Dr. Luke has plenty sitting around. I'm sure the album might not be cohesive and seemed rushed, but its better than opening with 50k on black friday The only reason American Idol is even relevant is because of the amazingness that are Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. The producers should pay them for saving their asses and letting them milk the show til its dry in a couple of years.

It's a completely different discussion. End of the year and overall total is different. Deal with it. Recovery had it locked up and i was CORRECT. Seriously some of the posters here blind hatred of Eminem stopped them from seeing he had it locked up. I was not just saying that because i am an Eminem fan. I did numbers and predictions in my head and determined Recovery would take it by 150K. If anything, It looks like i low-balled how much he would take it by. So the fact that you even think these are similar discussions is appalling to me. Im am not an Eminem hater. I bought recovery and love the album. Recovery did not have it locked up. If Speak Now had a powerhouse single smashing, it couldve sold more than Recovery by the end of the year. No it prbly wont, but it certainly could have. You specifically said you made predictions in your head, you say that it was locked up. Those two statements dont mix. They are similar disscussions. You werent open to the fact that Taylor had a chance to take the crown at the end of the year. Sure it looked like Eminem had a much bettter chance, but Taylor had a shot. Idc who ends up with the title. I love both artists, and would be happy for either (and honestly even if someone i dont like won it, i really wouldnt care; good for them). Not even close. It's stupid doing the "if such and such happened." Well if Eminem put out a better first single than Not Afraid it would have done way more as well. So using that argument you did really doesnt fly. Speak now had no shot. Have you even listened to Kid A? I love the marshall mathers lp as much as the next guy, i bought that album the first week in the summer of 2000, but it was number three behind Kid A and Steely Dan that year. Plain and simple. edit: actually scratch that it was better than the steely dan album. But still not better than kid a, but i think it had a stronger chance of winning since kid a was matched against that beck album so they prolly split votes. this guy agrees that Steely Dan should not have won over Eminem or Radiohead. www.detnews.com/article/20101201/OPINION03/12010304/1031

Tv aspect is fine. But the record companies don't wanna develop Idol contestants. Some are so easy, like Daughtry/Kelly/Carrie. But others are not, and the label won't support them. We've seen that over and over again.
I still don't get why RCA made Bo Bice do pop/rock when he was more southern-rock and country. I could keep going but that's for another post. LOL

As long as the ratings stay as they are AI wont end. its still killing everything on TV. Tv execs at Fox don't particularly care how well artists do as long as the ratings stay up. But with the departure of Simon i dont see it surviving much longer.

Speak now had no shot. Lets say Mine made it to number one on her 4 main formats. That couldve driven her sales to pass eminem. Lets say taylor got shot and passed ( i know thats completley terrible, but your being so stubborn). taylor always had a chance. now its extremeley smaller, but she still has a chance! you never know whats going to happen in this world.
