After the lip-synching comments, Elton later apologized and said he knew Madonna sang the majority of her shows live, but that she believes for the best live category, it should be *all* live. He added that she's a great artist, entertainer, blah, blah, blah. He does seem to have some personal issue, though, as if he's above her- and, he's entitled to think whatever he likes. I'm sure Madge isn't losing sleep over it.

I think Madonna used it perfectly. It has two definitions -

1 : of, relating to, causing, or involving reduction
2 : of or relating to reductionism : reductionistic

So reduction is:

1 : the act or process of reducing : the state of being reduced
2a : something made by reducing b : the amount by which something is reduced
3 [Spanish reducción, from Latin reduction-, reductio] : a South American Indian settlement directed by Jesuit missionaries
4 : meiosis 2; specifically : production of the gametic chromosome number in the first meiotic division

Hmm, meiosis. That's intriguing. Let's look that up!

: the cellular process that results in the number of chromosomes in gamete-producing cells being reduced to one half and that involves a reduction division in which one of each pair of homologous chromosomes passes to each daughter cell and a mitotic division — compare mitosis

And finally, reductionism:

1 : explanation of complex life-science processes and phenomena in terms of the laws of physics and chemistry; also : a theory or doctrine that complete reductionism is possible
2 : a procedure or theory that reduces complex data and phenomena to simple terms

Obviously Madonna was calling BTW a reduced, or more watered-down, version of Express Yourself. But what I especially liked in her choice of word is that there are literally scientific definitions to it that break the insult down so wonderfully - taking the meiosis definition, it is basically saying Express Yourself is the 'mother' that passed on half its DNA to the daughter, BTW. Or if we are to use the definition of reductionism, Express Yourself was a complex phenomenon and BTW just reduced it to a simpler/more basic form. The meiosis explanation ties into the album title (M.D.N.A. = mDNA) really neatly that way while having a "layman" definition that is still applicable. I have no doubt Madonna anticipated being asked about BTW and gave a lot of thought into having just the right word at the ready. It was flawless.

Elton John's bitterness is not a reduction or copy of anything, it's just him being salty for who knows what reason. He wasn't even being shady, he was just being a hater and it blew up in his face. There are plenty of other fancy words that I'm sure would apply to him for that, but reductive just wasn't one of them. Your attempt at checky snark missed the mark, sorry.

Remember that Elton being a generation older than Madonna and releasing his first record 13 years before her is also to blame for that. Regardless of any "ageist radio" issue, once an act reaches a certain age their career completes its cycle no matter how current they try to be or how big they once were. People just stop caring about their new material. Literally the *only* example of someone in Elton's age bracket getting a notable hit single or studio album was Louis Armstrong's one Hot 100 #1 at the age of 66, over 40 years ago.

Madonna has already sustained a commercially successful career a bit longer than Elton did, and has been far more consistent in terms of each album's level of success within the first 30 years, so your point still stands. I'm just saying that it's no surprise than Madonna has more commercial potential out of the two.

I don't think anyone expects "Masterpiece" to be promoted at radio. And I also would not be surprised if it's album-only and can't be purchased individually.

W.E. - Music From The Motion Picture
Here is an update about the release of "W.E. - Music From The Motion Picture", the soundtrack for the new Madonna-directed movie coming out with Interscope later this month.

As previously reported here on MadonnaTribe last month, the film score will receive a digital release at the end of the month.

"W.E. - Music From The Motion Picture" will be released on January 31st as a digital download and the same day will also be available as an iTunes exclusive version in bundle with a digital booklet.

As reported here last week, by popular demand the soundtrack will also receive a physical release. The CD is currently scheduled for release on February 7.

The soundtrack album will contain the amazing film score composed by Abel Korzeniowski as well as the Golden Globe winner "Masterpiece", written by Julie Frost, Jimmy Harry and Madonna, co-produced by William Orbit and performed by the movie director herself.

"Masterpiece" is also scheduled to be released on Madonna's new album "M.D.N.A.", also out on Interscope in late March.

On the contrary, I don't think he tours as excessively as Madonna but he does often sell out his shows and is *very* respected for then. He plays for three hours. I've never heard anything bad about his concerts. Plus he doesn't release pop-friendly songs anymore. You can't flop if you aren't aiming for hits. He's had his time and it was very successful.

if it will be included on the album also, wouldn't it be available on iTunes? im sure it would do very well in sales. The YouTube hits are very high in relation to Masterpiece.

Did Lady Gaga lie to Jay Leno? According to pop music icon, Madonna's representative, Lady Gaga most certainly did.

Lady Gaga, during a post-Grammy appearance on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,' said that she had received a "blessing" from Madonna through the email about her new single 'Born This Way.'

Lady Gaga told Leno:

I got an email from her people and her, sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single and if the queen says it shall be, it shall be...

Gaga has come under fire by some critics that say that she ripped-off Madonna's 'Express Yourself.'

Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, says that no such email from the 'Queen of Pop' was ever sent.

Perhaps Gaga spent too much time (72 hours is quite a while) inside of that egg and 'misremembers' the email from Madonna. Is Gaga lying or was there actually a letter sent by Madonna's team, though her representative knows nothing about it?

Letter or no letter, rip-off or not a rip-off, 'Born This Way' has sold 480,000 copies and is the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. That is the truth!
