I'd be surprised if the NFL lets Minaj perform a track (as short as it may be) with the word "Hoe," unless it gets bleeped. And where would the choir fit in? "Like a Prayer" would be the only sensible track to include a choir. Glenn Close is an astute woman. foxxd- note that it says "Album Only" for "Masterpiece" on Amazon- as expected. For the others, though, it just says "Not available." Lol no way NBC is going to allow Hoe to be aired after nipplegate. Glenn had a huge smile on her face when Masterpiece beat her own song. Love Glenn. Kind of a shame that we have to wait till April to purchase Masterpiece individually but I understand Interscope wants to sell the soundtrack as a whole. I'll be purchasing the soundtrack, album and any song available anyway. :)

Sexism still exists in the music industry and in general. While it's no problem for male rock stars and bands a whole generation older than Madonna to perform by themselves during the Half-time show, NBC and/or the NFL obviously think an older female pop star needs help from the young folks.
That said, people surprised by Madonna giving in to NBC's stipulation that she include younger acts du jour if she wanted the job are apparently forgetting that Madonna is just as much a business woman as she is a recording artist. Besides the fact that caving gave her the opportunity to simply gain some massive exposure, if these younger acts help younger record buyers introduce themselves to her material in any capacity then it will be a win-win for her.

Superbowl set list1. L.U.V (Opening) 2. Give Me All Your Luvin – Madonna feat Nicki Minaj and M.I.A 3. Express Yourself – Madonna 4. Stupid Hoe – Nicki Minaj 5. Vogue 2012 mix – Madonna and Ninja House 6. Music/Holiday – Madonna feat Cee Lo Green and L.M.F.A.O I'm never one to ask posters for source, but where is this coming from. I'm ok with it all, except #4. I like her, but I don't see how this all fits in at 12 minutes?

Forced to include those acts? Where did that bit of speculation come from? I could see NBC "suggesting" Green, as he's a mentor on The Voice. But, LMFAO? Bit of a long shot, but NBC are owned by Universal, the same company that owns Interscope records, which LMFAO are signed to?

It's not her fault at all! Oh c'mon! It's Madonna's show! One of the greatest female performers in entertainment and you're telling me that if she didn't want these acts, they would have still performed? How about all the other older big performers of recent years? We didn't see Bruce Springsteen or Tom Petty saddle with mainstream performers.... Madonna always likes to keep her fingers on the pulse of the mainstream and this is just another way for her plug her relevancy to current pop music.

Past halftime shows have included guests as well, so this is hardly a new precedent. When Madonna performs, she's usually with a bunch of dancers, whatnot, anyhow. It's not like we were going to get a Madonna Unplugged show. :) It's actually not the fact that she has guests. I just consider the talent that will be performing with her very marginal at best. There are many, many excellent entertainers, musicians out there and we get LMFAO. I really consider that a joke. I know music is subjective but these guys are awful. Off my rant, I'm just disappointment with the SB people not so much Madonna.

These other artists don't need to stay relevant because they don't have hits anymore. She's a business woman, and a smart one at that. She knows what she's doing.

I'm tired of diva wars.
Janet fans keep posting that Madonna is slamming Janet.
Whitney fans keep posting how badly W.E. did in the UK.
GaGa fans are pissed about the reductive comment.
Anyone else want to complain about Madonna?

It's annoying because Madonna didn't even slam Janet. She even took up for her after the Super Bowl incident.

Isn't funny how this irrelevant pop star from the 80's can cause such a commotion?

Nicki should not perform that "stupid" song. As far as Madonna trying to drum up publicity by speaking about other artists in an ill manner unwarranted, she simply needs to get over it. It's become distasteful and tacky.

From UKMix: Celine Dion: 'Madonna will give us something to remember at Super Bowl'
Celine Dion is sharing her thoughts on Madonna performing in next week's Super Bowl Halftime Show.
"I love Madonna and know her well," Celine Dion told The Trend on Zappos Couture. "I know she'll do just fine, she doesn't need any luck. She's going to do her thing, she's going to do what she does best, she's going to give us something for us to remember. She's going to be great, just fine."
"I'm not going to be performing at the Super Bowl because I'm pretty booked," Celine added. "I'm in Las Vegas right now at Caesars Palace doing a lot of shows so I won't be at the Super Bowl."Go Celine!!

It's become distasteful and tacky. Agreed. Since the song would probably need to be censored so much for airing it on TV (it would practically need to be bleeped every other word which would defeat the purpose of performing it). Let me offer up an explanation that is a bit out there about the setlist that is posted a couple of pages back if it is indeed the real one. I think the placement of "Stupid Hoe" is not an accident. That song that is intended to be shading certain female haters of Nicki, or anyone in general (many say it's obviously about Lil' Kim since their beef has been so public). And since there was the controversy over "Born This Way" resembling "Express Yourself" since last year and then Madonna's "reductive" comment in the ABC interview a couple of weeks ago on that subject. Note that "Express Yourself" appears right before "Stupid Hoe". Same with "Vogue" appearing right after it since some had compared the rap in BTW to the rap in "Vogue". The juxtaposition of all three is just really amusing and fascinating to me. Make of it what you will, but I just can't shake the feeling that this is all planned out and calculating and meant to be further shade.

NBC is a huge corporation. Do you honestly think they gave her 100% freedom to do what she pleases? It's THEIR network, and it's THEIR audience. If they want to remain the top network to showcase the Superbowl, then they have to pull out all of the stops. I don't get what's so hard to understand. NBC probably gave Madonna a deal, she took it knowing she'd have to give up some freedom, but yet have HUGE exposure for her upcoming album, movie, and tour. She, and the network, made an historical decision. and BTW, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty are men. Rockers, even. Huge difference when it comes to the Superbowl.

It was the way she answered it, yeah madonna didn't bring it up but she could of just said simply no I am not planning anything naughty and left it at that , why go on and say showing a nipple doesn't make you interesting or cutting edge ? what was that suppose to mean we all know Madonna's history she wasn't above showing a nipple and a lot more in the past , it was a obvious shade to Janet,

Yea something seems fishy here. Quite frankly, I dont even think Madonna gives two shits about LMFAO. I mean, she has very good music taste, atleast MIA and Cee Lo have considerable talent. LMFAO? WHY would Madonna want them?

WHY would Madonna want them? It doesn't seem that fishy to me. LMFAO is hot and selling right now. More exposure for them and their songs that are still in the top 20 would continue to sell some more. And it's only for one song. Maybe she actually likes them? I could totally see a "Sexy & I Know It" mashup with "Music" turning out hot. I'm not thrilled that she is going to be performing with all those other performers because I know she can totally hold her own, but what can we do? It's not like we can call, email, send a message by pigeon carrier or smoke signals and say "DITCH THE GUESTS MADGE!!!" It's finalized now and it's going to happen/ At this point all we can do is just hope it isn't one big epic clusterfuck. Madonna is smart. I don't think she would allow herself to be involved in such mess. I don't think she is that desperate that she needs to do that to get attention now. So what if her label forced her to do this just to have the performance at all? And so what if it actually pays off and helps with the new album? I bet some of the folks who were opposed to it now will be saying later on that it was the right thing to do.
