I'm really excited about the movies. I think she's a singer who could've had an extraordinary career in acting!

Following the Platinum success of Whitney Houston’s comeback effort ‘I Look To You’, reliable word has it that the legendary diva is soon set to return to the studio to record its follow-up.
According to our good friends over at Middle Child Promotions, the singer has earmarked June this year to return to the studio to lay down vocals for what will serve as her 8th studio album.
As well as a return to recording, Houston 46, is said to have US television special still ‘on the table’, and has also apparently signed on for two movies. Although, the much hyped ‘Waiting To Exhale’ sequel ‘Getting To Happy’ is interestingly neither of them. The ‘Million Dollar Bill’ singer and her team are still in negations with the movie’s producers - despite the rest of the cast (including Angela Bassett) having already signed on.
In any case, it appears the masses will be seeing a lot of Ms. Houston this year through to next.
——————————————
Granted such news is welcome, it serves as somewhat bitter-sweet for yours truly; as ‘I Look To You’ still boasts (potential) hit singles in abundance (‘For The Lovers’, ‘I Got You’, ‘Worth It’). Still, with the campaign clearly over months ago, I guess it’s simply a case of “on to the next one”; which may in actuality bode better for Whitney in the long run.
After all, despite the success of the aforementioned, one cannot shy away from the drama which went down in tandem (see: tour, questionable vocal showings etc).
Yet, with many close to camp Houston attesting to her now being in better vocal and physical shape than she has been in a long while, this new project may be what she needs to silence the naysayers and regain some of the steam lost towards the end of the last round. Time will tell…
Randomness: Now Whitney has got through the perfunctory ‘I have overcome’ angle with the last LP (industry politics), raise your hand if you’re hoping for gutsier, more diva-esque material (ala ‘It’s Not Right, But It’s Ok’) on this new album? I sure know I am…

The last bit isn't the least bit shocking. There were several alleged female posters revealed to "push weight" around the same time last year. Everyone vote "Queen of the Night" for Best Queen Song.

Producers are already starting to submit work for her next round of recording. She definitely wants to work with R. Kelly again.

Look - you're not Whitney, OK?
Troy L. Smith • Staff writer • January 17, 2011
There's a moment that happens at least once during every episode of American Idol. Just as host Ryan Seacrest announces the song one unlucky (or stupid) contestant is about to sing, you sit at home on your couch, rolling your eyes.
We realize before they even open their mouths that the contestant is about to destroy one of our favorite songs and nothing — not Seacrest or one of Randy Jackson's "Dawg" references — can stop them.
American Idol is a singing competition, but more specifically it's a glorified karaoke contest. The best contestants — the Adam Lamberts, Kelly Clarksons and Carrie Underwoods — make us forget that.
If you're not one of the best contestants, keep it simple. To help out this year's contestants, here's a list of songs to avoid at all costs.
Any Whitney Houston song. At first, I wasn't going to ban every Whitney Houston song. However, one look at her hits and it's clear: Contestants, stay away. The difference between Whitney and Mariah is that many of Mariah's songs revolve around a simple, radio-friendly element that gives contestants a chance to make the song their own. But Whitney owns every song she's ever sung. Tackling songs like "I Have Nothing," "I'm Your Baby Tonight" or "Saving All My Love for You" is pure Idol suicide.

Far more contestants attempt Whitney songs than Mariah. While they may never match her tone or diction, Whitney's straight forward and bombastic approach to singing is easier for belters to attempt than Mariah's vocal gymnastics and vocal scaling. Neither artist can be imitated, but I would argue that it is far harder to sing like Mariah than it is to sing like Whitney.

Anyone familiar with the producer named Focus? He's not a big name at all, but his father was a member of Chic, and he producers some pretty hot stuff. It would be hot if he worked with Whitney. She would go in on one of his slower produced tracks.

Those contestants always try to sing Whitney (& Mariah) and 98% fail miserably. As far as everything else about what's harder to sing, that's really based on opinions and the contestant's singing abilities.

Just rumors of course, but you never know how true it may be.
Is Whitney Houston returning to the big screen? Well, if super producer/director Tyler Perry has anything to say about it, the answer is Yes!
According to an inside source, Whitney screen tested for Tyler personally in hopes of landing the lead role of a Jazz singer in Tyler’s next film “A Jazz Man’s Blues.” Word is the role may have originally been meant for Diana Ross, but once that fell through, Tyler rewrote the role specifically hoping to get Whitney to come on board. The film will reportedly be set in the 1940s and will feature Ben Kingsley as Whitney’s love interest.
As many of you well know, Whitney had an amazing movie career during the 90’s. The Pop diva’s films, “The Bodyguard,” “Waiting to Exhale” and “The Preacher’s Wife” have reportedly grossed over 300 million dollars worldwide and the singer’s soundtrack to “The Bodyguard” is still the largest selling soundtrack in history, thanks in part to Whitney’s amazing rendition of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.”

I always noticed far more people attempt to sing Whitney(with few succeeding) than they do Mariah. Hardly anyone tries to tackle a Mariah song. Mariah makes it impossible with her abilities. #truefax, just saying. Krissy just tweeted this: "Can't wait 2 head t2 my good 'ole' sunshinestate! #CaliforniaCountdown! Doing the grammy's this year! How excited are you guys?!(; #NBL2ALL!" Doesn't she know that the sunshine state is Florida, not Cali. Anyhow, can't wait to find out more on her two roles, plus album collabo's, that exciting! Here's hoping both Whitney and MC release albums around the same time for some fun DIVA friendly competition.
