Bobby Brown was surrounded by friends and loved ones today as he laid his mother to rest.

Bobby's mother, Carole Brown, passed away Thursday in Los Angeles at the age of 69. Bobby flew her body back to Boston, Massachusetts, for the funeral.

S2S Publisher Jamie Foster Brown, who was in attendance for the funeral, said that Bobby didn't speak during the ceremony. Instead, he released a statement Thursday saying, “It is a sad time for me right now. I am experiencing a tremendous loss but I vow to celebrate her life in every way that I can with my entire family."

That included his ex-wife Whitney Houston, who said a few words about Carole after singing "Blessed Soul." The singer stated that she would always see Carole as her mother-in-law.

That may have made for an awkward moment at the funeral since Bobby was there with his fiancee, Alicia Etheridge, who spent the majority of the service comforting Bobby.

Whitney's performance with Kim is getting alot of twitter love and glowing reviews. They did their thing and their real friendship and love for the Lord shone throng. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Those funeral clips went viral, especially, 'Precious Lord'. It's been posted all over the web even at christian radio stations and hip hop sites, go figure.

Whitney Houston, Kim Burrell draw 2.7 million viewers for Celebration of Gospel

BET's 11th annual Celebration of Gospel drew a franchise record of 2.7 million viewers. According to network officials, the show is now the most watched Gospel/Religious television show for the 11th consecutive year.

Celebration of Gospel was hosted by comedian Steve Harvey and featured performances from Gospel and R&B stars such as James Fortune & FIYA, VaShawn Mitchell, El Debarge, Chaka Khan, Beverly Crawford, Rance Allen, Kirk Franklin, Kelly Price and Howard Hewitt.

The highly anticipated duet between Kim Burrell and Whitney Houston was the star of the show. The two friends sung the song "I Look To You," the title track to Whitney's most recent album, to the surprise and delight of the audience.

According to Yahoo Music, Houston wowed the "Celebration Of Gospel" audience with a remarkable performance. She connected with the song's R. Kelly-penned lyrics that pay homage to a trusted support system. But her voice sounded much stronger than it has recently.

Houston didn't sing any bad notes during this set taped in December in Los Angeles. She nicely handled some signature riffs, even dipping into a crisp falsetto. She didn't sound as strong as she did in the '80s and '90s, but she was great, considering her pitfalls.

Celebration of Gospel 2011 is scheduled to re-air on Thursday, February 3rd on BET.

Of course they still use Whitney's fame for their own exposure, but to be fair, we can't be sure this was someone in the Brown family that filmed her or took these pics. This is a public church, and it could've also been one of Carol's friends or church members that did this.

To some comedians everyone is a target, but for this comedian there are two things she will not touch.

OK, she won’t go in on Whitney and she won’t go God as far as jokes are concerned, but everything else is fair game … and there’s a whole lot of everything else to talk about as well. We will certainly be in the house when we get the chance, will you?
