I wouldn't expect Spears' track to skyrocket following performances. It may bump up some, but likely probably no skyrocketing. I think "S&M" is too obvious in its explicitness, lyrically- there was a track back in 1992 about the same thing and it didn't even mention "whips and chains," etc. in the song. (of course, the book that came out around the same time was another matter) RE "Born This Way"- Stephanie G. still has a ways to go for No. 1s at the pop format since the 80s, but she's on her way- pretty much half-way there. Pop radio is having a Steph G. love affair at the moment, without a doubt.

we will see she is performing tomorrow on GMA and later the day on JK show. there is MTV special, KCA and maybe Ellen. Also video is coming this or next week some radio interview and CD is out tomorrow. i think all of this stuff can help TTWE to get to #1 on iTunes. and ofcourse the song is great. oh and thx :) Her GMA performance of HIAM was just awful. Lip-synching (surprise!) and she put very little effort into her dancing.

Yeah...I have no idea why people think TTWE will skyrocket with lukewarm performances. It will surge but most people can't just return to #1 just because. I'm curious to see which of her songs debut on hot 100. I'm guessing I wanna go, Inside out, Criminal, and Big fat waste bass. HOpefully the promo will translate to sales more than anything...not crossing my fingers for huge impact on single sales.

Billboard: Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" bounds 2-1 to become her seventh No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 chart, tying her with Pink and Rihanna for most No. 1 on the 18-year-old radio airplay ranking. Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 chart is 18 years old. Started in 1992. (Thanks for the correction.)

Doesn't Madonna have the most Pop #1's since the 80s? She has 15.

Yes- going by Radio & Records- which was just as good if not better than Billboard for airplay information up through the early 1990s- those are the most No. 1s- not just since 1980, but also stretching back to R&R's beginnings, in 1973 (I think).
Billboard's airplay chart started in 1984, and while a good portion of the peaks were the same as R&R up through 1992, some were different. And until R&R's charts became spins-based in, I think, 1995, there were some notable differences between peaks on R&R and Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 charts.

^ So if it somehow managed to get as high as No. 8 on the Hot 100, that would make a big difference? As HIAM showed, peak position won't matter much for longevity. Keep in mind that TTWE now shows up twice on iTunes, (currently No. 19 and 50).

California King Bed is a fantastic song. I'm not the biggest Rihanna fan but the song is Amazing. Then again i'm a sucker for sappy love songs.

If it peaks higher than 9, may it be in the top 5 or 8, is a welcome tbh. I don't really want to get into the longevity debate. Not unless you have good long term memory and follow the charts like a hobby, you won't remember how long a song charted, but most likely it's position. But ofcourse, we want Spears to have longevity, but she was never an artist that had longevity in the first place. TTWE is at 23&39 HIAM is at 77&80

Wild guess about Wiz's airplay, but:
Katy 254 + 79 = 333 Rihanna 166 + 114 = 280 CeeLo 155 + 122 = 277 Wiz 244 + 25??? = 269 Gaga 146 + 106 + 13 = 265 BEP 219 + 43 = 262

Wiz' airplay is def below 5Mill. (that's Being generous)
The song has not been sent to radio so its at most only getting curiosity spins.
