So it'll be a 3.5 hour concert with occasional awards handed out.
I'm down with that!

I hope Kathy Griffin finally wins her Grammy so she can focus on a Tony.

Thanks, chato (and others).
It indeed does look like it's becoming more of a concert than an awards presentation. But, with its history and reputation, maybe that's not such and thing.

I hope Kathy Griffin finally wins her Grammy so she can focus on a Tony. But knowing the committee, they'll most likely give it to Weird Al Yankovic as he's won many before.

The categories that would be a given in terms of airing would Album, Record, Song and New Artist, I'd think. And then a handful of genre album categories.
Yay for Bruce opening.

If someone who isn't Adele or the Foo Fighters win Album Of The Year, I will be bitching about it for the next few days.

This is the first time I may not watch the grammys. I'm just not excited about anyone being nominated besides Adele + Foster the People. However, I am glad the grammy board came to their senses and did not nominate beyonce's "4" for anything. She usually gets a default throwaway grammy each year.

I actually think 4 deserved more nominations. They were crazy for nominating things like Halo (Live) but this album was seriously deserving of more.

If anything they have been huffing too many paint fumes, 4 should of had nods this go around. It's honestly a great album, I'd say on a personal level it's definitely my favorite Beyonce album to date and one of the musical highlights from last year. All opinion though at the end of the day though of course.

At the very least, "Love On Top" should have been nominated.

I did NOT know "Loud" was nominated for album of the year. That's a mess. "We Found Love" def deserved some nods but that's it.

All opinion though at the end of the day though of course. I didn't think the album was great. It seemed pretentious for her. RTW grew on me but for me, and I think the rest of the world, she didn't convince us with the story of "I took time out, and traveled and went to rome and paris and took in influences." lol I just don't believe a thing she says. The only song I enjoyed and bought was "Dance 4 U" and that was a bonus track. Plus she "borrows" a lot of material in music, performances, and videos and I'm a little tired of her. I hope she takes a break and enjoys motherhood. I feel this is where she will REALLY grow, artistically. She's a great performer but she is flawed as an artist in the true sense of the word, IMO.

When are the first awards given out? This evening or tomorrow afternoon? For some reason I always thought it was the day before.

Lol he did throw the party and there'llbe a Grammy tribute for her tonight.
I imagine the rating this year will be great after Whitney's passing.

Jennifer Hudson & Chaka Khan to Perform Whitney Houston Tribute at Grammys Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan will perform a tribute to late singer Whitney Houston at tomorrow night’s 2012 Grammy Awards. The ladies will hit the stage during the show to honor the singer who passed away at the age of 48 on Saturday (February 11), according to ET. “I’m speechless…I’m in shock right now. Just pray for her and the family,” Chaka tweeted after hearing the shocking news. Whitney was expected to attend and perform at Clive Davis‘ annual pre-Grammy gala tonight. Anyone doing an uptempo number tonight will look tasteless, imho. This makes no sense. 3 hours of ballads? Change the entire show that takes weeks to plan in less than 24 hours?

When do the "Shmammys" start? They are broadcast online, right? Because of how few categories are now aired on the actual Grammy telecast, I rather enjoy listening to the "Shmammys" to find out the other dozens of Grammy winners that get no tv time.

Has anyone seen a schedule for the pre-telecast? I remember last year there was an official list that showed the order all of the awards would be presented in.
