I will never get over this underperforming. This song is fire. Seriously, I have listened to it over 800+ times and I am not tired of it.

You can't relate to Judas. That's the reason why.

I think what killed her was having two "unrelateable" songs back-to-back. Unless you were gay, Born This Way did not really give the general public much to relate to. And unless you're Jesus Christ/Mary Magdalene, there wasn't much comparison to this.
If this would have been a 4th single away from Holy Week/Christmas it would have smashed

Being relatable is a big thing, especially if you want to get to #1. that's why Judas flopped and EOG is soaring. Which is why Marry the Night might not do so well, or Schiebe, but You and I might find some success. You have to relate to the people around the world, not just yourself.

Actually, I find Scheiße and MTN more relatable (if you understand the message) but I think Y&I is pretty instant you either love it or you don't.

How many people understood the message of Judas? People don't read into lyrics, they take them as they are.

I was able to enjoy Judas for the first couple of weeks it was out, but that was from it being a good song with good production. However I'm completely over it, since it had no repeatability factor for me, which for me gives songs longevity. I don't think Scheisse would smash due to repeatability again. Since I jammed to it at the start, but am already over it. However, Hair I love and feel a ton of people can relate too and I'm still jamming to it. I hope it gets single treatment.

i think Schiebe has longevity, but not on pop radio. It never gets old for me, but it's not suitable for radio. For me, Hair starts out absolutely phenomenal, but then it falls flat. I wish the beginning was the entire song. But maybe that's just me.

Out of all of GaGa's singles to date, this one had the worst first impression for me personally. I feel like it was an attempt to recreate Bad Romance with a more edgy production. Unfortunately, I had a feeling that it wouldn't catch on as it lacked something the majority of GaGa's singles had, a strong hook or something that was relatable. I still think that it's a good song though it's far from being the strongest track on Born This Way. I was happy when GaGa's label shipped the far superior The Edge of Glory after this began to stall. As of now, this is my second least favourite GaGa single to date, ahead of only LoveGame.

yea, listening to this now....this song totally rocks. It deserved #1. Might be the biggest upset ever in the history of our generation. I think it's more explosive than BR. Plus the bridge is fucking awesome.

It was more about being who you are. Not to mention, don't think it would have had the success it did if it only appealed to the niche market you are referring. I kind of found what you said offensive.

BTW is about anybody embracing who they are, and quite explicitly. That doesn't just entail gays. ???
I do think Judas wasn't as easily relate-able though for obvious reasons. But we've been over this topic so much. Gah. lol

I know this might have been mentioned in this thread, I know Judas fell 17-33 that one week, if I'm not mistaken. But what is the biggest weekly drop on the CHR chart ever? or some of the biggest drops?

Just because she mentions gay in the song once. With that logic, only gays can relate to Dear Mr. President by Pink and whatever other song mentions "gay". Because mentioning that in a song is just so polarizing.

On a personal level i wish this song would have done better. im pretty shocked it did so poorly, i thought she was immune to a flop on pop. considering its theme it did badly though. i think they did everything wrong at the label with releasing born this way and this one right after it. i think there are far better songs on the album, by a mile.

No one is immune to flopping. But I am proud of "Judas" for being to the sacrificial lamb in order to let others have their airplay.

^400-800+? I generally get burned out on any song around 70 or 80 (plus many radio spins).
