I honestly don't know why this flopped :( It's a good country song! I'm worried that if this didn't make a splash nothing from this era will. I hope and pray that I'm wrong, Kellie is too good to be the next member of the idol grave yard.

Kellie Pickler, although by no means a superstar, is still a moderately successful country artist (multiple Top 20 hits, No. 1 albums, etc.). Lee DeWyze was a total flop out of the gate.

This did gain some AI today, but I don't think it'll be enough to save herself from falling off the chart soon. IMO, I think it's best to scrap this and send something else out within the next couple of weeks instead of trying to bring this back to life again. I could speculate some reasons as to why this "flopped," but most likely, I'd be wrong.
I don't think we should start worrying about Kellie and the "Idol graveyard" yet; I'm sure her next single will perform better. If it doesn't, then we should start panicking about her future.

I've had time to calculate the AI updates for this week and simply put, this is in pretty deep trouble. Kinda weird, though, because in my area, it feels like another top 20 hit or at least close to it so I don't really know why this has been struggling. I have generated some thoughts but it's probably just a bunch of nonsense. Anyone wanna hear them, though? Maybe we should give it one more week before writing this off for good? I know I want to...

Yep, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I love hearing it everytime it comes on radio but that's very seldom here.

I still say its cause Kellie Pickler is not one of 3 women...Miranda, Carrie, or Taylor. Those are the only 3 "allowed" to have a consistent streak of top 15 hits (or even one hit lately) by radio these days. Its sad, but true!

Unless she posts a sizable gain tomorrow, this will be her 2nd straight bullet-less week on Billboard.
So, she'd need to really rebound this week, otherwise she's on a course that would send her recurrent on the 10/29 chart.

I'm currently thinking a combination of things which may or nay not relate to each other: *there's not enough buzz/hype around Kellie yet (did she wait too long?); *this might've gotten lost in the shuffle; *bad timing (esp. for the video, I think); *lack of (proper) promo/marketing; *some radio stations are refusing to play/add this. That's just me, though. I've been hearing this since the end of June on the radio and it feels like another hit around here, but I don't know what the hold-up is. EDIT: Okey-doke. We have another negative update today, so I guess it's safe to say it's done and will start free-falling this week. :( Hopefully, we'll get something new in the next few weeks (and have it properly promoted this time ).

We need a new single or else they need to push back the album. Debuting the album without a single in the Top 20 would not be good at all...

DYKYB didn't make the Top 20; it peaked at #21, and Kellie Pickler still managed a respectable debut. I also recall it having a run similar to Tough, except it was caught in the lower-to-mid 20s for a few months instead of the 30s. I don't know if Tough did enough to give her a strong enough opening as she had with her past 2 releases, and I'd like to see her notch a third No. 1 country album. Although at the same time, I'd really hate to see this record get pushed back, because then it wouldn't be released for probably another 6 months.

Hate to be Mr. Doom-and-Gloom here, but the way I see it, the album will need to be pushed back either way it goes. We might get news for the new single by the end of this month at the earliest, but I see it coming sometime next month before Thanksgiving. Unless her new single was to fly up the charts ala "Baggage Claim," it would probably be in the top 20 sometime after the New Year, which wouldn't help any matters if the album were to come out December 6. I'd love to have a new Kellie album in a couple of months, but I'm very certain that we need an active (and properly promoted) single heading towards the top 20 (doesn't really have to be there, though) in order to get another No.1 Country album.
Also, unless you were in the Charlotte area or close to it where "Tough" was on quite a bunch since July, I don't think it made a big enough impression to get a big album debut. It might have gotten its foot in the door, but nothing greater than that.

But that was because it was her sophomore album and because DYKYB was more highly publicized than this single. I don't think many people know she has an album coming out shortly, or even that she has a single on country radio. She hasn't performed it anywhere but Ellen. Didn't she debut DYKYB on the CMAs or something?

^ Yeah, she debuted DYKYB on the ACMs in April 2008 and then sent it out to radio a few weeks later in May.

I absolutely love watching her on Ellen. She's one of the funniest interviews. And she had an excellent performance on the show. She always seems so happy when she sings, I love that.

She needs to be picked up for a performance slot on the CMAs or ACAs this winter. Presenting awards and doing interviews on Ellen & Good Day LA aren't going to do it anymore, and it's time her label realizes that this girl needs a push, because if she gets the push needed, she can do wonderfully (i.e., Best Days of Your Life).

They should totally take advantage of the holiday sales and send out a smash. The timing is perfect, the label needs to play their cards here!

The timing is perfect, the label needs to play their cards here! It was never planned for a November 12th release. The December 6th date was the first official date that we've heard. Nov 12th isn't even a possible release date (for it to be out that week it would have to be out on the 8th).

Went Recurrent this week >:(
***Peaked at #30 before fell down a few spots a few weeks ago and sadly peaked at the same rank as 2010's "Makin' Me Fall In Love Again" which also peaked at #30 in 2010. She has not had a top 20 hit since February 2010's peak of #14 with "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You".

Sorry to see this go at such a low peak of #30. It honestly sounded like such a smash to me, and I'm surprised and disappointed to see it fall so short of my expectations. I'd like to see Stop Cheating On Me get send to radio next. Another up-tempo might serve her well, but I just have this feeling like SCOM could be a hit the way THTBM was for Miranda. Without hearing the studio version and going off the live performances, it sounds like an absolutely killer song. Or they could go the safe route and release a more radio-friendly up-tempo and save that gem for single #3 and unleash it on country radio like a tornado in a trailer park. ;)

I don't understand why radio won't let any females breakthru anymore. Really the last female to break thru and stay is Miranda and that was what, 3 or 4 years ago? And how many males are breaking thru each year compared to females? Its not like record labels aren't signing women, radio just isn't giving them the time of day. They have never given Kellie the credit she deserves and its just getting worse. It just makes me sick. This is the worst time for women in Country music since the early days of the genre! Is this really the 21st century? wow! Doesn't give me much hope for Country music's future as far as women are concerned. Radio is finally turning their back now even on the remaining female artists from the 20th century. Disgusting.

I agree with all of what you said though; such a shame.

^I agree it's frustrating to watch. I'm also skeptical Faith Hill will be allowed to come back by the Radio God's. I'm hoping her new single will be strong.
