Never ever said or even insinuated that I hate Gaga. I don't like her much, but I certainly don't hate her. Keep reaching sugar. And seriously I'm the one that's pressed? Reread your entire post please. ;) Actually, you're trying to argue that her sales are ingenuine with silly excuses. Is that meant to be behavior of a fan or something nowdays? O my bad.
How about you reread it, then actually contribute to discussion instead of post catty responses?
Thanks for playing though.
Don't worry, I'm sure GaGa will have some promo for her next album where you and hilary can get a free copy when you collect your food stamps together. LOL :)
LMAO. It's so funny to see how much I got under your skin & you don't even know me. Bringing Hilary Duff into the conversation for the sake of what? lol The immaturity level is to much for me to handle. This discussion is definitely over.

YASSSSS!! DRAG HIM!! Drag me for what exactly? I didn't start the .99 discussion, I jumped in because I happened to be one of those impulse buyers. He didn't "drag me" on anything because I wasn't even doing what he accused me of doing. Gaga fans.

Chartwatchers should be thrilled. She and Adele are helping the overall sales climate, further pushing the year-to-date sales change into the positive. +1 the power of GodGa & Godele. :'(

Can some of you please shut the f**k up? Lock? I think a mod should lock this temporarily and if any important news comes up, PM it to them and they can post it. That way we can read the news. Such a party pooper. Anywho, I'm glad her label thwarted walmarts sabotage of her debut. JUST LIKE THEY SABOTAGED BRITNEY WITH BLACKOUT! WALMART IS OUT TO GET YOUR FAVES!

I personally think it's a great way for record companies to sell their music in the future. Sell it to the distributors for XXX millions of dollars and let the distributor do with it what they will. I love Amazon for this.

I love Amazon for this. I remember discussion a few years ago about a downloading service that would make its profit from advertising. So customers would be subjected to ads, but they would not have to pay a penny for the music they wanted to download. I think music distributors and record labels making deals to benefit each other that cost the consumer less money is brilliant obviously. People are only complaining about the concept of a 99 cent album because they don't want to see Lady Gaga outselling their favorite artists. Who wouldn't want albums to be 99 cents?

I love Amazon for this. +1 But we don't know how BIG the Amazon.com sales are yet. It could still be alot less than itunes. We assume it's HUGE. But, maybe Amazon didn't have their servers fully equippedfor this? It is a brand new tool for them.... We just have the numbers yet. It could equal 1% of her first week or 50%, we just don't know.

I love Amazon for this. It depends, it's definitely a risky move but if it ends up working for Amazon then maybe we will start seeing one-day 99 cent digital album offers for many big hype albums in the future. This could be what finally sticks a nail in the CD's coffin. Obviously a local Best Buy or FYE can't afford to charge 99 cents for a physical CD album

I can guarantee there will be a team of people looking at numbers to see if it was profitable and, if so, we will be seeing it more often.

I could still see them doing it either way, but maybe making you watch an ad when it downloads. Lol. I, personally, would buy SO much more music if albums were $1. But that means iTunes and other stores would have to step it up. Meaning $0.25 singles during their release week, etc.

i have heard that Failzone pretty much fucked themselves over with this. Lots of custumers are angry as fuck and they have just eaten an enourmous loss. I would not be so sure about this bright future.

Even if this is a success, there is no way in hell iTunes will start selling singles for 0.25 lol
People don't understand how small amazon is compared to itunes. iTunes will NOT change anything drastic until the Amazon share of the market flies up.
Billboard had a reccent report for all digital markets for 2010 the other week.
1. iTunes 33% (up from 27% in 2009) 2. Amazon 11% (down from 12% in 2009)

For the record company and artist, a model of this sort could guarantee them some sort of money and profit built into a project for an established artist. It's another avenue for record companies to make money and separate themselves from how much an item sold and act as some sort of insurance for them on many levels.

Wow, thank you to the assholes of Pulse who could have this thread potentially locked during a true music event. Whether or not you like her or whether you're pissed about the so called "manipulation", it's happening and it's done so get the fuck over it already and let's talk about something actually relevant

Some people's responses are interesting.... ha.
Why on earth would Amazon set themselves up for a loss? They would have taken their market share into account when deciding how to sell this release; it can't have been that big a gamble, or they wouldn't have bothered. It's really sweet that some of you are taking the moral high ground or assuming somebody, somewhere, is making some massive loss out of this due to their own stupidity and lack of foresight, but do latch onto the fact that these people are part of a business please.I'm not saying I'm the fountain of knowledge on promoting a record and I appreciate that we all want to have our own say, but we really can't have these discussions when everybody is so misinformed and then when somebody offers an explanation, they throw it back in their face.
