Not just the 80s for Madge's controversial work, 2m. :)
What some do not realize is that Paul Grein is on record as saying, in 1985, that Madonna would be out of the music business in six months- that her image had overshadowed her music. Obviously, he learned the error of his thoughts. :)
As for the numerous references in his blog, he just does what a lot of people do (myself included)- repeat a sentiment that there's no harm in repeating. :)

Madonna hasn't put out an album of new material in over 3 years yet y'all can't stop talking about her. That's okay though, if anything it further proves she made a legitimate impact.
I must say though, I think the constant bickering about the Gaga/Madonna comparisons is merely tragic foreshadowing of the absolute mess that's gonna occur when Madge drops her next album. Places like Pulse are going to collapse under the pressure of the Gaga/Madonna stan wars.

Mandisa, What If We Were Real (2,000, +2%, 42,000) Mandisa shouldnt have trouble getting over 50k, not bad for her 4th album as a 9th place idol finisher Mandisa's bringin the heat. She's one of my favorite contestants from the show. One of the best voices the show has produced, too.

^Not to mention the only one with two racking up 10+ weeks. ;)
PDC, Madonna doesn't need regular chatter on message board as evidence to support impact. ;) I don't know why there would be "stan wars,' when the up-and-comer has expressed her love and admiration for one of her biggest influences.

Adele is obviously the best selling artist of this year everybody buys her album
i'm so worried i hope nobody prevent Beyonce from debuting #1 end of this month...if Eminem new collaboration album somehow increase sell to 200K and beat Beyonce in that week i will die ...hopefully Beyonce team sell more than 300K so noone can beat her but no need the 0.99$ deal like you know who did

But Born this Way has already gone through four singles, and none of them except the title track ever got breakthrough attention. He makes it sound like out of the 4 singles, 3 of them were complete flops. That's enough for me to say he's trying to spin things to make it look bad for her. Overreacting or not, 2m, that line is enough evidence to suggest he isn't a fan. Obviously he included the song Hair, which was never anything more than an iTunes single, as we all know. The Edge of Glory is en route to being one of her biggest hits, even if it doesn't have the societal or cultural impact that Born This Way has/had and of course, Judas flopped. He's clever but he also seems like a douchebag. LOL! This Roger guy reminds me of a guy on my Facebook who's always harping on GaGa, posting annoying articles and spinning things around to make it look like she's flopping. Acknowledging that the reviews for the album are decent but they shouldn't be, among other tidbits. I bet he's posted a Roger article on facebook at one point.

I doubt the Bad Meets Evil EP would increase to 200K. It's likely to drop in week two, and would be unlikely to increase to that point in week three.
Is there actually a Katy Perry remix EP being released next week?
However, if Queen B's album were to sell Christina Aguilera/Bionic-like numbers, Adele's album possibly could block it. :o

I know that whatever M does, some will say she is now following Gaga, but it's like...hello, M has been there done that. I can't imagine there is going to be wars between the fans. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a collaboration of some sort!

I love her but sorry A remix EP won't sell more than 20K so i'm not worried about it at all I agree that Adele can even sell 150K but i and 2 other fans i know will buy 30 physical copies in hope that these sales will contribute to the total sales in first week...we won't allow our Queen to be beaten by Adele it would be a shame

Hmm... a bit of silly comparison but anyway
Beyonce sold 3 million with her previous album, opened with 482k in November
Britney's Circus sold 505k with a December release but has scanned "only" 1.7 million
Femme Fatale doesn't seem to have chance of surpassing 1 million very soon.
Bee is r&b, Britney is pop.
I'd be very surprised to see 4 not managing to surpass Femme Fatale's numbers.

^The only thing you proved with that is that Britney has a more rapid fanbase first week, which is what they were talking about.

^I can. And Femme Fatale had a more than fine opening week. The only reason some perceived it as underwhelming was because it wasn't nearly as big as Circus was its first week but that was in December and off comeback hype and "Womanizer" was a bigger, more impactful hit than HIAM. Either way you slice it FF has had the third biggest opening week thus far in 2011. I'd be pleasantly surprised if B can hit over 300k or the 270-odd-k FF did

I've been wondering if Selina Gomez could somehow debut higher than Beyonce. Are you being serious? I'm not sure if Selena can even crack 100k tbh. And Beyonce will do at the very least above 200k. I can't believe people actually think that just because RTW didn't do well that her album won't. She has a solid fanbase, not just casual supporters who buy based on singles. "4" is already #46 on Amazon.

I predict "4" to either perform like "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" or "My December". It could go either way.

I've been wondering if Selena Gomez could somehow debut higher than Beyonce. I doubt it, she's usually more of a long run seller than an opening week seller. So for that I can see her album selling more when said and done

Brit had 2 huge hits, a hit, and a flop. Beyonce had a smash hit, 2 huge hits, a hit, and two moderate hits

Add Whitney's Bodyguard at 20 weeks. She is the only female artist to have had 3 albums on the chart for most weeks at #1 This list is "female solo" - The Bodyguard doesn't qualify here. There is more than one female artist on this album Don't start this crap. It's a Whitney album.

Both of Selena's albums debuted with under 70k, but over 65k. Both albums have sold over 600k with AYWR still in the Billboard Album Charts without any support since last year.
