Adam Lambert comes to Auckland Entertainment - NZ Herald - Wed, 10 Oct 2012 11:21p.m. By Ali Ikram... the magic of Lambert the beautiful outsider - understood only by his fans of which there are millions. They see him for a standard bearing for being different in a world of conformity. “For the younger fans I like to take on a big brother role for them,” Lambert says. “I like to encourage strength, bravery, originality and connection and some of my older fans look at me like a son.” For the young Lambert it was Freddie Mercury who inspired him. “He just did whatever the hell he wanted. He was in charge and I looked at the early stuff and what he wore was amazing and ridiculous. loved the fashion and obviously the music.”
And completing the circle this year, Lambert went on tour with Queen performing in front of his biggest audience ever – 250,000 people in the Ukraine.

I actually really liked the song he performed on PLL. I thought his scene with Aria was kind of weird and random, though...I guess they just wanted to give him some lines?

Glambert has been dropped by 19R label. Obviously his deal with RCA has been terminated too. www.billboard.com

No, he's still with RCA, just not 19. It sounds like this is good news for him.

Not true; from that article: According to sources, January marked the expiration for that contract [recording with 19 Entertainment], although he is still on the roster at RCA Records.

The contract between 19r, Lambert and RCA has been expired. Now, RCA might re-assign him or they may not. "He’s not signed to RCA Records" from popcrush.com

LOL, How come Kelly, Carrie and Daughtry contracts never expire?
He has been dropped just like many before him.

The contract between 19r, Lambert and RCA has been expired. Now, RCA might re-assign him or they may not. "He’s not signed to RCA Records" from popcrush.comThat is a typo, only made apparent when read in the context of the whole article: So that sentence should say "He's now signed to RCA." I doubt he'll be reassigned anywhere since RCA was the parent label. This isn't uncommon; there have been several times when an artist moves from a subsidiary label to being signed directly the parent label (one good example is when Jive and Arista-J got folded into RCA - those two labels were dissolved and most of the artists on them were simply 'reassigned' to RCA's roster, with a few being sent to Epic). And when Carrie first one Idol she was actually signed to three different labels - 19R, Arista, and Arista-Nashville - because of some contractual red tape that wouldn't allow her to sign directly to Arista-Nashville. Arista was phased out of the deal after Carnival Ride so that she is now only signed to Arista-Nashville and 19. I do find it interesting that Adam's contract with 19 isn't set on the same cycle as his contract with RCA though. You would think that they would have been synced together, and that they both would have expired at the same time and we would hear that he did renew his RCA contract. Nothing is saying that his contract with RCA was "renewed," though, just that he is still with them.

The way I read it, the middle-man, 19R has been taken out. I think if Cook and some of the others hadn't renewed with 19R, they might have been able to keep their contract with the major label (RCA). They would have been in a better position to renegotiate without RCA worrying about having to split profits with 19R who does absolutely NOTHING but collect money after the first year. We'll see how this shakes out but I am thinking it is good for Lambert. Also, I believe he has international sales to add to his US sales that other idols did not have. We don't know those numbers but I heard he is doing around 20 concerts in Asia, etc. so sales must have been good enough to support a mini-tour there.

The way I read it, the middle-man, 19R has been taken out. Pretty much, yes. 19R can do a lot for certain artists, which is why some of them stay with them. Adam probably realized that he was better off with someone else. I think Clay Aiken was the first to do this and it was a big deal at the time. RCA would be crazy to walk away. He is going to continue gaining traction internationally and there is still a ton of money to be made from him. They just need to recover from the last project.

Looking forward to see what he'll come up with for Album 3. But if RCA doesn't get any better at picking singles..... well I'll just blame that on 19R for now and hope for the best.
IA they'd be foolish to cut him without another shot. He made a lot of progress internationally, why give that groundwork to another label.
He needs to come up with a smash though, people with radio love can get away with snoozer singles. Adam's going to have to overcome it. Won't be easy, but he's a talented guy. I wish him success.

This is great news for Adam. Geez, when was the last time RCA didn't drop an Idol. Adam is the first alum to still have a deal with his major label, but not 19R. I always saw 19R as greedy bastards with their hands out for doing anything. Maybe now Sony won't have to worry about dealing with a 3rd party . I'll be honest I was hoping he would move on to a new label but with Adam cutting all ties from Idol now maybe they'll start treating him like a real artist as oppose to just another Idol. UPDATED: A rep for 19 Entertainment tells THR, “It has been wonderful working with someone as talented as Adam over the years. Through the recording process, we have seen him grow into himself as an artist and we are proud of the success we’ve had together. We wish him luck in his future endeavors.” www.hollywoodreporter.com/idol-worship/adam-lambert-19-recordings-part-411719

LOL, How come Kelly, Carrie and Daughtry contracts never expire? He has been dropped just like many before him. Those Idols were/are locked up with a 10yr contract with 19R. After S7 the contracts were changed. With Adam being a runner up his contract is even less than the winners. Also 19R and RCA are 2 separate contracts which is probably why when the label drops an Idol 19R can exercise their rights to continue with the Idols or not.

I hope he doesn't take too long recording his 3rd album. He should at least release a new single this year if he expects to maintain much relevance. It's been awhile since he last had a hit.

Adam Lambert and Boyfriend Sauli Koskinen SplitJASON PARSLEY APRIL 5 Glam rocker and American Idol Season 8 runner up Adam Lambert announced in an interview with SFGN that he and his boyfriend Sauli Koskinen have split up. “It’s been kind of on its way out in the last couple of months,” Lambert told SFGN. Koskinen is a Finnish entertainment reporter, television host and radio personality. He rose to fame after winning his country’s version of Big Brother in 2007. Lambert emphasized though the two are close and will continue to remain friends. “Sauli and I remain really good friends, and I know it’s a cliché thing to say. But it’s totally true,” he said. “I just gave him a coffee and bagel earlier today. He’s a great person and we’ve had an amazing couple of years together. Things have just run their course.” Lambert and Koskinen’s relationship though hasn’t always been smooth sailing. In 2011 the couple was arrested in Helsinki after a dispute led to a physical altercation. However that appeared to be only a minor blip in their relationship with both of them brushing it off. “Fame is not easy. Celebrities are only human. Love is not easy either, but it is forever!” Koskinen wrote in a blog post. While Lambert laughed it off on Twitter tweeting: “Jetlag+Vodka=blackout. Us÷blackout=irrational confusion. jail+guilt+press=lesson learned. Sauli+Adam+hangover burgers= laughing bout it.” Lambert attributed the break up to their hectic schedules. “I’ve been getting really busy and traveling a lot and and he’s been getting really busy because he has a show he’s filming for Finnish television,” he said. “So we just decided to part ways.” SFGN was interviewing Lambert in advance of his upcoming performance at Miami Beach PrideFest taking place April 14 on Miami Beach.

Idol Chatter: Adam Lambert comes homeBy Bill Pinella 4:07 P.M.JULY 3, 2013 DEL MAR — On my Facebook page, where my likeness is supposed to be shining bright for all the world to see I have a picture of Adam Lambert. I took it in Oakland four summers ago when he was part of the American Idol Summer Tour. Now comes the real question: Why is it there? As I watched Lambert perform Tuesday night at the San Diego County Fair, I thought about it and the answer became fairly obvious – I’m envious. The guy oozes talent. He sang 17 songs, performed for about 90 minutes, recalled his own days at the Fair, talked openly about being gay and even watched as a female wearing what looked to be a camera on her head ran across the stage. “Oh, don’t hurt her,” Lambert asked security personnel, “and let her keep the footage. If that was a camera she was wearing maybe it’ll be on YouTube tomorrow.” His band was stellar behind him as he bumped and grinded his way through his own work including his own classic “Whataya Want From Me”, a Tears For Fears staple (“Shout”) and even some reggae. “I grew up in Rancho Penasquitos,” he said. “And I think if you look hard enough out that way (he pointed to the east) you might be able to see it. In the summers my dad would put on Bob Marley records. How great was that?” It wasn’t like the runner-up of Season 8 of American Idol was playing in front of a packed house. But it was close. An hour before the 7:30 p.m. show there were still $8 tickets to be had. And that was a much better option than the $7.50 it was going to cost you for a corn dog and fries. “I remember coming to the Fair as a teenager,” Lambert recalled, “and eating funnel cakes. The girl I came with wore these jelly sandals and she was called a slut because of it.” With a pair of guitarists, a drummer and a keyboard player backing him up with precision, Lambert gyrated his way through the show and the longer the show went on, the more pronounced his gyrations got. Unlike many of today’s acts, the focus of the evening wasn’t on a huge choreographed presentation. The backup band, a mini-fog machine and some rather annoying strobe lights was it. No huge dance numbers, no big costume changes. Just Adam. And for this night it was plenty. And he had nothing to hide regarding his sexuality as he did through much of his Idol run when he finished second to Kris Allen. “I don’t want to get all political here,” Lambert told the crowd, “but my people now are equal to your people.” To that he received wild applause. Adam Lambert came home Tuesday night and he did what he does best – he entertained. I think I’ll leave his picture alone. SETLIST: If I Had You Naked Love Cuckoo Never Close Our Eyes Pop That Lock Chokehold Shout (Tears for Fears cover) Whataya Want From Me Outlaws of Love Is This Love (Bob Marley & The Wailers cover) Kickin' In Fever For Your Entertainment Dragon Attack (Queen cover) Shady Encore: Purple Haze (The Jimi Hendrix Experience cover) Are You Gonna Go My Way? Adam Lambert Joins 'Glee' CastBy Lesley Goldberg, The Hollywood Reporter | July 11, 2013 11:12 AM EDT "Glee" is kicking its upcoming fifth season up a notch. Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Murphy announced Wednesday that "American Idol" alum Adam Lambert is joining the cast of "Glee." "I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of 'Glee' this fall," he announced. Details of who Lambert will be playing remain unclear. Representatives for studio 20th Century Fox Television and Fox did not immediately have details on whether the role is a series regular, recurring or guest spot. Lambert becomes the latest "American Idol" alum to join the Fox musical. Last season, "Idol" runner-up Jessica Sanchez had a multiple-episode role on the Ohio-set side of the series, playing a diva singer at a rival glee club. For the season eight Idol runner-up, the "Glee" gig marks a dream come true. The singer told The Hollywood Reporter in January 2012 that he feels the scripted singing series is "so cute" and "really paints a picture of what it's like to be an arts kid in high school." "'Glee' is really irresistible -- it's charming," he said at the time, noting he'd love to be able to play himself on the series. (Lambert most recently played himself and performed on ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars.") Lambert's casting marks a welcome injection of star power to "Glee." The series will see some of its original cast members -- fan favorites Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley and Harry Shum Jr. -- take on a reduced role next season. To compensate, the show bumped up to series regulars new additions Melissa Benoist, Jacob Artist, Becca Tobin, Blake Jenner and Alex Newell to series regulars. "Glee" has a history of booking big-name guest stars. Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson both had recurring roles during Glee's fourth season as the series split its focus between its Ohio-set high school and New York, where stars Lea Michele and Chris Colfer are prominently featured. "Glee" returns with its fifth season Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. on Fox.

Really not thrilled that he's doing Glee, since I'm not a fan of the show. I might check out the show to see how he is on it, though. Also, I hope that some major label out there picks him up so that he can release another album. I wasn't expecting him to leave RCA, but I'm glad that he did. A covers album would have been dull.

Since there was no link to explain Adam's departure from RCA, here's the THR story: j.mp/13VUdQgAndrew Hampp of Billboard (@ahampp) tweeted that there's more news coming Monday...maybe a new label already? Hmm.
