He's still a good amount away on airplay, and shows no current threat on digital sales as of yet. We have entered a window for Katy. It's about a 2-3 week window where a television performance, or some other ploy, is needed to push her digital sales to the perfect spot for #1. After this window is gone, Lil Wayne will probably start blocking her. That sounds about right. Katy needs to be on TV or releasing remixes or something to draw people's interest in to her new song again. |

Did "Smile" see a big sales gain after performing on America's Got Talent? Airplay has not really taken off, so it would need a good sales gain to move that much.

It was lingering in the 120-150 range, and ever since AGT it's been between 60-70. Not enough to jump that many places, but it will still move up some. |

Michael Jackson didn't need remixes for his five number ones from Bad so I wouldn't consider them even if LFN was backed by high profile remix. Which doesn't make Katy any less successful, would just leave a taste of desperation. |

LMFAO is made up of motown founders ,Berry Gordys , very own family. It was only today that I found out the duo is made up of Stefan Kendal Gordy (Berry's 8th son) and Skyler Gordy (a grandson). Stefan goes by the alias of "Redfoo" and Skyler calls himself "SkyBlu".
They're signed to Interscope, which is owned by UMG. So far I don't know if Berry had any involvement in getting them signed/developed. Wait, so LMFAO is a father and son duo? What are their ages?! |

Below the Hot 100's top 10, Bad Meets Evil's "Lighters," featuring Bruno Mars, ignites 33-17 with Digital Gainer honors. After launching at No. 16 four weeks ago, then song fell to No. 36 in its second week and No. 58 in its third frame. This week, the song charges 25-12 on Digital Songs with 92,000 downloads, a 51% gain and its second-best total since its debut week (132,000). The problem with the Bad #1's is that, in Thriller's shadow, they mostly underperformed as #1 songs go. Epic panicked early after IJCSLY was held at bay for two weeks by La Bamba, and both that ballad and Bad were on the Hot 100 for a meager 14 weeks; A terrible showing - even at the time - for #1's by a superstar. The Way You Make Me Feel and Man in the Mirror both "felt" like big hits because of lasting recurrent play, but TWYMMF didn't get to #1 on either the sales or (BB) airplay charts. And Dirty Diana (A frequent victim of being labelled a Payola record) has the dubious distinction of being the weakest #1 song of the '80s (based on its chart performance = weeks in Top 10 / top 40 / Hot 100). BTW, the 'other' Jackson Rock #1 Song, "Black Cat" has the same sad distinction ... for the 1990s!
As much as I love MJ, his Bad singles simply don't compare to the ubiquitous presence and impact of Katy Perry's recent run.
