That's a not-so-uncommon second-week percentage drop for Rowland's album.
I thought that this Greyson Chance was on Ellen DeGeneres's label (which seemed odd to begin with)? Unless Geffen distributes it.

No one else is talking about this, but what on earth are Scotty McCreery's numbers doing that high on an American Idol brand album?
Makes me wonder if when he releases his album he might just buck the recent trend of flops for American Idol winners. Nobody has really done much of anything since Daughtry.

Makes me wonder if when he releases his album he might just buck the recent trend of flops for American Idol winners. Nobody has really done much of anything since Daughtry. I think he has the best of both worlds. He has the voice of a veteran that appeals to a larger audience, he's singing primarily to a country audience, but he's young enough to appeal to teenage fangirls. Everything is working in his favor, it'll be interesting to see how things go from here.

With "I Wanna Go" peaking in the next few weeks they should discount Femme Fatale at the major outlets

GaGa staying steady.... it'll pass the 2m mark quite easily. 3m is another story.
They need to ride the current single Y&I till the Holiday season, and have a smash single there, if they want to reach that 3m mark.

With "I Wanna Go" peaking in the next few weeks they should discount Femme Fatale at the major outlets For having quite the successful singles this era (TTWE & IWG) + a medium size hit (HIAM) the album sales are really sub par. It won't reach the 1m mark unless they do a re-release.

Yeah, Scotty's #s are majorly impressive.
Adele past 2.9?
I believe 4 is now only 10-15k away from Femme Fatale. Impressive for Beyonce with no real hits (though BTINH is doing decently).
The consistency from Mumford & Sons (their current single is just sitting around #20 at Alternative) is unreal. I want to see Sigh No More cross 2 million.
Estimations Sigh No More - 1.700 million Teenage Dream - 1.683 million Born This Way - 1.671 million

GaGa and Beyonce both Top 10. Critics had both these albums falling quickly off the Billboard 200.

Scotty's album is supposedly due out October 4th...it's going to sell like crazy. The compilation he's got now is a little 5 song EP, basically, and although his lead single (the crappy coronation song "I Love You This Big") has slowed up in the 17-20 range on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, to his credit Scotty has hung in there with a silly song during a very competitive, and as a result, stagnant chart.
If Interscope/Mercury Nashville is planning on staying with ILYTB throughout the rest of the summer and into the fall, I have no doubt that Scotty will get a top 10 with that. Even without such a hit, his album would sell, though. Country is more welcoming to Idol alums than other formats, it seems. I don't like Scotty's cheesy song but I think the rest of the album will be miles better and post huge numbers...I wish Mercury would've put out a better song even though they've been able to work that song up the chart.

I think Idol is suited to launching some types of music careers better than others, especially now that the show has been around for a while, so fans aren't going to buy albums automatically just to "support" someone they liked on a TV show like they did back in 2003.
Idol has a pretty wholesome image overall, so a country singer can be the boy/girl next door on the show and in their musical career after the season is over. That's not to say they can't evolve as artists, but it can't happen overnight, because a lot of Idol fans just can't handle that.
But the big-voiced belters, rock guys/chicks or singer/songwriters, they get shoved into a different box post-show: sexy/edgy or a generic pop act, but it's all so watered down, and the fans who liked them during their season can't relate to their image/music after the show. They can't get enough new fans outside of Idol bubble to make up for it, and before you know it, they're just another Idol "underperformer" or "flop".
Anyway, Scotty's album sales will be huge and some stans of other Idols will be pressed.

And Moves Like Jagger is showing effect on M5 album sales :) -- 38 MAROON 5 A&M/OCTONE 11,630 -- HANDS ALL OVER Wow! I was thinking they should have just re-released but maybe they don't have to. As long as they keep promoting that is. Another 30k+ for Bey! Loving the steady sales. And 70% is a pretty normal 2nd week drop but it still doesn't look great for Kelly. "Motivation" has been huge for her so unless she can duplicate the success of that fast with the Sean Paul song, I don't see it for her this era either.
