Throughout the 2000's - with only the exception of the week after Christmas - the weekly Greatest Gainer / Airplay award only went to rhythmic (& usually hip-hop) tracks and artists. It is truly astonishing this year to see the biggest audience gainers going to pop acts like Katy Perry and something as stark as SLY.

Congrats to Adele again. What are the chances that "Pumped Up Kicks" will reach #1 next week? I'm hoping they can squeak past Adele for a week b/c SLY will likely be a multi-week #1.

Yes!!!! Congrats Adele! What an amazing year it's been for her :) SLY is amazing and such a different song to hit #1.
And Congrats Bey!!! Her 2nd highest debut ever :) Top 20(beating up RTW's peak) Hopefully radio will embrace it.
And finally, Congrats Katy for extending her streak :) It ends at 69(she'll be out next week)but what a sweet run it's been :)

Moves Like Jagger has a better chance at returning to the top next week. It was ahead of Pumped Up Kicks on iTunes until yesterday and even now is only behind by a single percentage point.

Yes, MLJ will be #1 next week. After that, it's up for grabs. If SLY continues its digital dominance whilst soaring up the airplay chart we could have a RITD-like run at #1. Once her AI is massive (and it will be sooner rather than later) I'm sure we would only need one half decent contestant to sing it on X Factor US to send its sales into orbit again (and I'm sure Adele will appear at some point). Time will tell.

I guess I spoke too soon. Oh well, 69 weeks has a more interesting ring to it than 68. :)

Yah, so much for LFN dropping from the top 10. A solid 12 weeks inside the upper tier- beyond excellent for a fifth single. :)
And another rocket to No. 1 for Adele following a performance- first the UK, now the USA.

Also-"Pumped Up Kicks" made it into the top 10 on Hot 100 Airplay. :)
And, another top 20 Beyonce hit. Though its run in the top 40 likely will be brief.

As three titles previously on the Hot 100 join his eight newcomers, Weezy places 11 songs total on this week's chart, tying David Cook and Taylor Swift for the most simultaneously-charting songs by a soloist in the list's 53-year history. Only the Beatles have held more concurrent positions, having placed 14 songs on the April 11, 1964, Hot 100 (as well as 12 each the frames before and after). wow

Sorry to say it, but You're VERY VERY racist, there is almost always an American singer or band at the top. So, congrats at Adele :)

So, Gaga just ties Mariah's record this week. to have 11 consecutive singles hitting top 10. Mariah ended the streak with Anytime You Need A Friend which peaked at #12. But how about Hair which missed top 10? But it was just a promotional single. ???

If Hair counts, then so should Marry the Night, Circle the Drain, etc., and any other song that charts on the Hot 100 without actually having radio promotion.
I think "radio single" has been well established at this point.

We can make "streaks" out of anything by finding reasons to exclude stuff that didn't make it.

So if Hair would've made #10 I wonder what they would've said then?

Radio singles have a distinct advantage over non radio singles so billboard is right to factor in that difference.

^ True. Either way, she'll continue her top 10 streak on the Hot 100. ^Adele and her team setting their sights on Katy Perry's No.-1s-from-one-album feat. Haha, I dunno about that, though it seems like anything is possible for Adele at this point. i think Set Fire to the Rain will go to number one, and the 4th single (hopefully Turning Tabels) will do well, but likley not number one

So in case Hair made top 10, Gaga wouldn't be considered to break Mariah's record? (12 consecutive top 10s). I want to know what Billboard say about this
