ONE PILL MAKES YOU LARGER, AND ONE PILL MAKES YOU SMALL, AND THE ONES THAT MOTHER GIVES YOU, DON'T DOOOOOO ANYTHIIIINGGG AT ALLLLLLLLLLLL… Whoops, sorry about that folks! I was so preoccupied in Grace Slick's flawlessness that I didn't realize it was that time again – JT40 commentary time! Here we go!
First off, I need an excuse to say what I'm about to say, so here it goes. One of this week's dropoffs is Cher Lloyd with “With Ur Love”. HOT JEFFERSON STARSHIP REMAKE!
Now that I got that off my chest, time to announce #1! This is the tenth time I have said this in 2013 – ladies and gentlemen, we have a new #1. And you guys will never guess who it is! The new #1 this week is also the week's highest debut, debuting all the way at #1. Korean singer PSY gets his first chart entry and first ever #1 with the legendary, iconic, masterpiece that is “Gentleman”. :)
… April may be over but that still doesn't stop me from trying to fool ya! Actually the new #1 this week is up from #2 last week, scoring her first #1 is Demi Lovato with “Heart Attack”. Lovato is the first ex-Disney star from the 2000's to score a #1 on my chart since Hilary Duff went to #1 with “So Yesterday” in 2003 and “Come Clean” in 2004. Not gonna lie – I originally intended to have “Heart Attack” peak at #2, but after listening to the Demi album last week, I had to let it go to #1. I did NOT have high hopes for that album because I wasn't very crazy about Unbroken (four words: You're My Only Shorty). But it's a fantastic album and I'll even go as far to say my favorite album of 2013 so far. Very pop. A lot of the ballads remind me a bit of Kelly Clarkson and we all know how much I love my Kellbell! Wow, when's the last time someone called her that? But anyway I digress.
Queensryche get their first top five hit in four years with “Redemption”, up from #7 to #5. They last reached the top five in 2009 with “Home Again”, which peaked at #2. ehT srooD kcus. Hmmm, I don't know where that came from. That's not like me to talk backwards like that. Oh well! ;) Also, Black Sabbath enter the top ten with “God Is Dead?” up from #11 to #9.
Three songs enter the top 20 this week – Mariah Carey's “Beautiful” (23-12), Dead Sara's “Lemon Scent” (21-18), and Carrie Underwood's “See You Again” (22-19). I want a Chanel bag.
Other notable climbers this week include Doro's “Coldhearted Lover” (14-11), Fall Out Boy & Courtney Love's “Rat A Tat” (15-13), Nikki Williams' “Glowing” (17-14), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's “Can't Hold Us” (30-21), and Maroon 5's “Love Somebody” (26-24).
The week's… highest debut! comes from QUEEN LITA FORD! My goal is to chart EVERY SINGLE TRACK on her latest album, Living Like A Runaway, so for those of you who want Lita to fuck off, THAT'S TOO BAD BROTHA! Her song, “Hate”, debuts at #29. Also debuting this week are Deep Purple with their first chart entry, “Hell To Pay”, at #32, Fleetwood Mac with their first chart entry in ten years, “Sad Angel” (they last charted with “Peacekeeper”), Demi Lovato with “Made In The USA”, Ariana Grande with her first chart entry,”I Want You” “The Way”, and Megadeth with “Super Collider”.
Now it's time for Evil Song Of The Week, and tonight we're spotlighting PSY with “Gentleman”. If you haven't heard it yet, unfortunately, here it is.
WHY IS THIS MOFO STILL AROUND?? As if “Gangnam Style”, one of the stupidest songs ever recorded, wasn't bad enough! I really hope this flops but I am a bit worried as I believe this is off to a good start actually :/ I know his music is supposed to be in good fun like the “Macarena” and shit but at least “Macarena” was catchy, *sigh* is just stupid. PLEASE RETIRE AND GO AWAY KTHNXBYE.
Before I wrap things up, I would like to say that this week's chart is dedicated to one of my all-time favorite singers and a heavy metal icon, Ronnie James Dio, who passed away at the age of 67 on May 16, 2010. He battled stomach cancer for six months. R.I.P. Ronnie – still miss your voice so much! :(
Have a great weekend and enjoy the chart!
