Rihanna is the next #1 on the Hot100 IMO (LMFAO stalling slightly). The video has had a massively positive effect on sales. But how long before it gets there? It needs to outsell SLY by as much as 40% this week to make up for the massive airplay deficit. I can't see that happening this week.....or next.

Yeah its gonna take at least another two weeks before WFL, or any other song in contention for the top spot to pose a threat for Adele. Hopefully she can match the amount of weeks at #1 with RITD. I think she will.

If SLY gets another two weeks, that would make six weeks on top. It may fall short of RITD's reign, but, nonetheless, still terrific.

It would mean Adele would have been #1 on the Hot100 for exactly a quarter of the year. Not up there with BEP but still an amazing thing (especially considering the genre of songs she's achieved it with).

In 2011 where music has been stuck in such a compacted area since at least 2008, its phenomenal that a British singer with such a polarizing sound compared to the norm could achieve this much success. Regardless of what artists you support, I think everyone can give props to Adele for going against the norm, not giving in to what is "in" and having as much success as she has had. Amazing.

I like Adele, and she is a great talent IMO, but I do not like SLY. Really??? You're like the only person in the world that doesn't like it.LOL. I'm sure there are others. What specifically don't you like? Is it too mushy? You can't connect with it???

Getting interesting at the moment. Rihanna's video has had an amazing effect on sales and she's currently 30% ahead of SLY on iTunes. It could all depend on the level of sales this week. I'm not saying it will but imagine if WFL sells 300k this week, that could mean that SLY sells 210k and the airplay gap is just about eroded. Of course if it sells 250k SLY will sell 175k and be #1 again. Could be close if Rihanna keeps this momentum going.

Wow, similar gains for SLY and MLJ. I wonder if SLY will ever have #1 airplay.

I think Rihanna will land at either #2 or #3 next week with the following week up for grabs.

Rihanna's already losing a little ground to SAIKI on the iTunes chart. If this continues, her rise to the top might not be as inevitable as it first appeared.

As long as Adele keeps decreasing she should be OK. She's her biggest threat as she's gaining on LMFAO in airplay.

^She's already tied with Janet; if it hits No. 1, she will tie Whitney Houston. Then, with her next, she'll tie Madonna. Her label undoubtedly will pull out all the stops to ensure that she ends up with the most female chart toppers.

it's really crazy to think Rihanna will top Mariah Carey at some point, given that she's only 23 right now. Or is she 24? lol
with 6 years left of complete domination, i think she'll easily do it.
I bet her label has a complete blueprint of her entire career until she hits 30. They just need her to be ok with it.

RiRi will turn 24 in April.
And, indeed- her label probably will have her keep the pace she's been at, in terms of recording albums.

There's no guarantee that she will be as popular as she is now for the next 6 years. Musical tastes can change a lot in that amount of time. She could find herself and her sound out of favor long before then. Or she might not. But there's no guarantee.

Yes overexposure will sink in eventually yes it will. I would think it would have RIGHT NOW, but it hasn't. But then again, she's only 23. I can't even imagine what it must be like to be 23 and that successful. I don't even know her last name.
