It's Rihanna's 11th #1, a total matched by only three other female solo artists in the chart's 53-year history. Mariah Carey leads among female solo artists with 18 #1 hits, followed by Madonna with 12 and Whitney Houston, also with 11. Rihanna this week pulls ahead of Janet Jackson, who has had 10.
Rihanna notched her first #1 hit, "SOS," in May 2006. These other women have had far longer to amass these hits. Madonna, Houston, Jackson and Carey all landed their first #1 hits between 1984 and 1990.
"We Found Love" took just six weeks to top the Hot 100. It's the fast-rising #1 by any artist since Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" debuted at #1 in February. The song also tops the 1 million mark in digital sales this week.
The red-hot Rihanna is featured on two other songs in this week's top 30: Coldplay's "Princess Of China," which debuts at #20, and Nicki Minaj's "Fly," which jumps from #28 to #22 in its 10th week.
In the U.K., "We Found Love" slips to #3, following three weeks at #1. It's Rihanna's fifth song to reach #1 in both the U.S. and the U.K., which puts her in a tie with Madonna for the most transatlantic #1s among female artists.
Rihanna previously topped the charts in both countries with "Umbrella" (featuring Jay-Z), "Take A Bow," "Only Girl In The World" and "What's Your Name" (featuring Drake).
Madonna reached #1 in both countries with "Papa Don't Preach," "Who's That Girl," "Like A Prayer," "Vogue" and "Music."
"Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera, which dips from #3 to #4, tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. It's the first 3 million-seller for both artists. Maroon 5's previous best-seller was its 2007 chart-topper "Makes Me Wonder," which has sold 2,642,000 copies. Aguilera's was her 2006 hit "Ain't No Other Man," which has sold 1,653,000. (Most of Aguilera's biggest hits predated the advent of digital.)
"Jagger" took just 19 weeks to reach the 3 million mark. That's the fastest that any song has reached 3 million since Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" did it in 19 weeks in March.
"Jagger" and Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" break into the top 10 (in terms of digital sales) for the year-to-date this week, displacing Rihanna's "S&M" and Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now" (featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes).
Kelly Clarkson's "Mr. Know It All" jumps from #19 to #10, becoming Clarkson's ninth top 10 hit. It's the sassiest "Mr." song to crack the top 10 since Jean Knight's "Mr. Big Stuff" 40 years ago. Another Clarkson entry, "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)," bows at #64. The song sparked the title of Clarkson's album, Stronger, which enters The Billboard 200 at #2 this week.

1. Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris, "We Found Love." The song jumps from #2 to #1 in its sixth week on the chart. This is its fifth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #1 (243K).
2. Adele, "Someone Like You." The former #1 song dips to #2 after spending five weeks on top. This is its 17th week on the chart; is its ninth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #3 (150K).
3. LMFAO, "Sexy And I Know It." The song jumps from #4 to #3 in its ninth week on the chart. This is its sixth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #2 (206K).
4. Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera, "Moves Like Jagger." The former #1 song dips from #3 to #4 in its 19th week on the chart. This is its 14th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #5 (126K).
5. Foster The People, "Pumped Up Kicks." The song holds at #5 for the second week in its 27th week on the chart. This is its 12th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #4 (132K).
6. Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine, "Stereo Hearts." The song holds at #6 for the second week in its 20th week on the chart. This is its ninth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #7 (109K).
7. David Guetta featuring Usher, "Without You." The song holds at #7 for the third week in its ninth week on the chart. This is its fifth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #6 (117K).
8. LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock, "Party Rock Anthem." The former #1 song rebounds from #10 to #8 in its 32nd week on the chart. This is its 24th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #11 (97K).
9. Cobra Starship featuring Sabi, "You Make Me Feel..." The song dips from #8 to #9 in its 16th week on the chart. This is its eighth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #13 (76K).
10. Kelly Clarkson, "Mr. Know It All." The song jumps from #19 to #10 in its eighth week. It's Clarkson's ninth top 10 hit. Digital sales rank: #9 (104K).
"Make Me Proud" by Drake featuring Nicki Minaj drops from #9 to #25 in its third week. Digital sales rank: #14 (74K).
Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" jumps from #31 to #12 in its fifth week. Digital sales rank: #10 (100K)...Drake's "Headlines" jumps from #16 to #13 (which matches its initial peak) in its 12th week..."5 O'Clock" by T-Pain featuring Wiz Khalifa & Lily Allen jumps from #20 to #14 in its fifth week.
"Princess Of China" by Coldplay featuring Rihanna bows at #20. This is the third top 30 hit from Coldplay's new album, which is a career-best for the band. This is Coldplay's second collabo to make the chart. "Lost!," with Jay-Z, hit #30 in 2009. Digital sales rank: #8 (105K).
Bruno Mars' "It Will Rain" jumps from #33 to #21 in its fifth week...Big Sean's "Dance (A$$) leaps from #63 to #30 in its third week...Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" leaps from #55 to #34 in its third week. A future #1? We'll see...Toby Keith's "Red Solo Cup" bows at #37. It's the second single from Clancy's Tavern, which this week becomes his ninth consecutive studio album to crack the top five on The Billboard 200.
"Sweat" by Bow Wow featuring Lil Wayne bows at #48. It's the first single from Bow Wow's seventh studio album, Underrated, which is due Dec. 6. "Sweat" is a collabo of two former teen stars. Bow Wow (then billed as Lil Bow Wow) was just 13 when he first charted in 2000 with "Bounce With Me." Lil Wayne was 17 when he first charted in 1999 with "Tha Block Is Hot." Bow Wow dropped the "Lil" from his name in 2003, when he was 16.
Justin Bieber's "Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)" bows at #58. It's the second song from Bieber's Under The Mistletoe to crack the Hot 100. "Mistletoe" debuted at #11 last week (and this week dives to #75). The album is expected to debut at #1 next week, with sales in the 200K range.
The King Cole Trio, featuring Nat "King" Cole, introduced this timeless standard in 1946. Their version reached #3 that December. Two other artists have taken "Christmas Song" into the top 20: Bandleader Les Brown featuring Doris Day in 1946 and Christina Aguilera in 1999. Mel Torme and Robert Wells co-wrote the song.
Britney Spears' "Criminal" jumps from #66 to #59 in its fourth week. It will be interesting to see if this low-key song can make it in today's turbo-charged pop radio environment...Martina McBride's "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" rebounds from #83 to #72 in its fourth week...Chris Young's "You" jumps from #85 to #74 in its second week.
Florence + the Machine's "Shake It Out" bows at #86. It's the second single from the artist's second album, Ceremonials, which is expected to enter The Billboard 200 next week right around #7. Florence Welch first charted in 2010 with "Dog Days Are Over," which reached #21.
"Lotus Flower Bomb" by Wale featuring Miguel debuts at #86. Wale's previous "That Way" (featuring Jeremih & Rick Ross) jumps from #61 to #60 in its ninth week. Wale's sophomore album, Ambition, is expected to enter The Billboard 200 next week right around #3. The rapper reached #21 with his 2009 album Attention Deficit.
"Lessons In Love" by Kaskade featuring Neon Trees bows at #94. It's from Kaskade's album, Fire & Ice, which enters The Billboard 200 at #17 this week. Neon Trees' 2010 hit "Animal" reached #13 on the Hot 100.
"Party" by Beyonce featuring Andre 3000 jumps from #75 to #57 in its fourth week.
The Black Keys' "Lonely Boy" bows at #91. It's the first single from the duo's seventh studio album, El Camino, which is due Dec. 6. The duo's 2010 hit "Tighten Up" hit #87...Two other songs enter the Hot 100 this week. Hunter Hayes' "Storm Warning" bows at #98. Justin Moore's "Bait A Hook" opens at #100.
Alan Jackson's 2004 hit "Remember When" and Little Big Town's 2006 hit "Boondocks" each top the 1 million mark in digital sales this week. It's the first digital million-seller for Little Big Town; the second for Jackson (following "It's Five "O'Clock Somewhere," a collabo with Jimmy Buffett).
Cee Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)" is the top-selling song so far this year that didn't reach #1 on the Hot 100. It has sold 3,557,000 copies so far in 2011, even though it never rose above #2 on the Hot 100. What were the top-sellers in each of the past few years that never reached #1? I just happen to have that right here. Train's "Hey, Soul Sister" took the title for 2010 (it peaked at #3 on the Hot 100). Miley Cyrus' "Party In The U.S.A." held the distinction for 2009 (it peaked at #2). Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" achieved the feat in 2008 (It peaked at #6).
What is it about these four songs that kept them out of the top spot on the Hot 100, despite their massive sales? With Green, it's easy to say the racy title made some radio stations skittish. With Cyrus, some stations may have thought it was a bit bubblegum for their formats. But I have no idea about the other two.
