Discovered this band on Youtube and bandcamp. They have a digital album on TheFuneralparty record label "Heavenly Rhythms For The Uninitiated". They sound like one of those great first time listens you would run into on a retro 1988 Alternative chart. I was sold the second I heard his vocals. You can listen to another song Titled "Television" on their bandcamp site. truebody.bandcamp.com/album/heavenly-rhythms-for-the-uninitiated-2. oh ,and the song is from 2020 True Body - "Spirit City"

Good monday for everybody sitting in quarantine! Been reading Lita Ford biography recently and though I haven'tt posted one of these songs for a long time! Like many artists, the former Runaways guitarist's career was changed by the arrival of grunge, so the following song was her last charting hit on both the Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock chart, reaching nr. 45 and nr. 21 in those charts. For all fans of that type of pop-rock! Also, the video is quite pleasing to the eye!

That is actually my favorite song From Lita Ford. Had that perfect uptempo Glam Metal vibe. One of her best sounded choruses and Correction: The music videos does wonders for the eye.

This year I’m reviewing every song that will chart on Billboard’s Alternative chart! If you’re curious, that’s 73 songs so far! Remember, anywhere from 130-180 songs can chart in a year, give or take a few. It’s updated weekly as new songs chart. On the last chart week of 2020 (12/26/2020), two lists will be compiled after ratings are given for new entries; one chronological based on when they first entered the chart (except for the first 40 which will be listed first in the order they appeared on 1/4/2020), the other with all songs ranked from best to worst, depending on the rating I gave them when they first entered the chart. That ranking is not definitive; all 9/10 songs for example will be listed in the order they charted, then the 8/10 songs, and so on. Why am I doing something so tedious so early in the year? One: because it’s going to make things easier when I make my list for 2020’s Alt YE rankdown ANDTwo: so I can broaden my musical horizons by listening to everything, good and bad.

God Face to the Floor is such a good song. Just have to get that out there. strangely, chalk outline was gonna take the #1 crown but having that led to some certain years being over represented. it got very lucky in this system

Could someone please explain how this song entered the Billboard New Age Digital Song Sales chart a little over a decade ago? I listened to the song and it's actually pretty good, but clearly this was a technical error.

I'm glad they changed the lyrics into a more sex charged jam.

With "Misery" making the top 50 on Alt this week, that means now "History of Violence" is estimated to be the top performing non-top-50 on Alt. Here are the top 10 for each chart, though I already covered them in the YTD thread.
Alternative 1 Theory of a Deadman - History of Violence 1280 2 Caamp - Peach Fuzz 1150 3 SAINT PHNX - Sorry 1147 4 beabadoobee - She Plays Bass 1116 5 The Band CAMINO - Daphne Blue 892 (heavily helped by Alt Nation) 6 Badflower - The Jester 870 7 Marshmello, YUNGBLUD & blackbear - Tongue Tied 858 8 Pinegrove - Phase 843 (this one could be a bit higher as I started tracking this one a bit late) 9 TWIN XL - Messy 807 10 Colony House - Original Material 749
Active 1 Beartooth - Afterall 600 2 Marilyn Manson - God's Gonna Cut You Down 433 3 Wolfmother f/ Chris Cester - Chase the Feeling 412 4 Sponge f/ Telle Smith - Uber and a Fifth 325 5 Goodbye June - Universal Mega Love 320 6 Sons of Apollo - Fall to Ascend 292 7 Wayland - I'm Not Alright 285 8 Wage War - Grave 277 9 Silverstein f/ Aaron Gillespie - Infinite 274 10 Point North f/ Kellin Quinn - Into the Dark 273
AAA 1 twenty one pilots - The Hype 1038 2 Drive-By Truckers - Armageddon's Back in Town 884 3 Liz Phair - Good Side 819 (this did make Billboard's chart) 4 Half Moon Run - Favourite Boy 772 5 Kat Cunning - For the Love 717 6 The Wood Brothers - Alabaster 617 7 Angel Olsen - What It Is 608 8 Fruition - Dawn 533 9 Dan Luke and the Raid - Fool 528 (could also be a bit higher) 10 Tennis - Need Your Love 498

I have a website that has KROQ year end lists from 1980 to 2007 and 91x lists from 1983 to 2007, unfortunately nothing later than 2007 but it houses a lot of year end lists from that time period of the 80s to the mid 2000s. www.rocklists.com/

cool. Gonna favorite that new site, cuz the old one wasn't working for me. The reason I wanted these lists is because KROQ seem to want to rewrite history and change their lists to Top 80 songs. for example this is link for top songs of 1982 from their website kroq.radio.com/top-80-songs-1982 , but this list is not the one they broad casted over the radio. It was this one radiohitlist.com/KROQ/KROQ-1982.htm. They do the same for almost all the years. Those of us who were there know they are full of shit.

Another huge new album release Friday today and again likely something for everyone. The Strokes are obviously the biggest name on this list. Sparta released their first full-length album in 14 years! Also, the first in five years from veterans Local H. I was blown away to see a band that I loved back in the late 90s/early 00s, Ultimate Fakebook, released an album for the first time since 2002!
If there was anything else that I might have forgotten, please comment it below.

I wonder how much longer we have until we see rock radio stations begin going off the air. The format is not what it once was in a lot of markets, and many rock stations have cut their staff's hours, pay, or furloughed them already. And several companies such as iHeart and Entercom, despite their dominance, are not financially healthy. The COVID-19 pandemic could wipe out radio companies big and small by the time it ends. If this stretches on for much longer we may never see a full recovery of radio airplay.
Airplay numbers are already down from last year, they're going to fall even more as stations begin going silent. Is it possible for terrestrial radio to recover from this at all, or is t he future solely Spotify and Tikok-centric?

radio is SIGNIFICANTLY less relevant than ever before...mp3 libraries, YouTube, Spotify, Shazam, commercials, movie soundtracks, etc...there are so many outlets to listen to music these days
& with people driving less during this virus outbreak & radio’s primary impact in cars, radio’s importance will likely continue to shrink
Jazz, vinyl, CDs, AM...they are all well past their prime...they still exist but are marginal...as FM radio will become increasingly marginal
