Hooray, I found a website that has seven-days'-worth of my town's non-MediaBase-monitored Alt station! Certainly seems to fit in with most of those who are reporters. I was surprised at these results, actually; it doesn't feel like it's as current/recurrent-heavy as it actually is. 1 | LUMINEERS | BRIGHTSIDE | 51 | 2 | JACK WHITE | Taking Me Back | 49 | 3 | MILKY CHANCE | Colorado | 48 | 4 | GLASS ANIMALS | I Don't Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance) | 47 | 5 | TWENTY ONE PILOTS | The Outside | 40 | 6 | YUNGBLUD | Fleabag | 31 | 7 | COLD WAR KIDS | What You Say | 30 | 8 | DAISY THE GREAT X AJR | Record Player | 30 | 9 | IMAGINE DRAGONS | Enemy | 30 | 10 | NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHTSWEATS | Survivor | 30 | 11 | WILDERADO | Head Right | 30 | 12 | WOLF ALICE | Smile | 29 | 13 | CANNONS | Bad Dream | 28 | 14 | FOALS | Wake Me Up | 28 | 15 | REGRETTES | Monday | 27 | 16 | MANESKIN | Beggin' | 26 | 17 | KINGS OF LEON | Time In Disguise | 25 | 18 | FOO FIGHTERS | Love Dies Young | 23 | 19 | GIRL IN RED | I'll Call You Mine | 23 | 20 | SPOON | The Hardest Cut | 23 | 21 | ALT-J | U&ME | 22 | 22 | BAD SUNS | Heaven Is A Place In My Head | 22 | 23 | OLIVER TREE | Life Goes On | 22 | 24 | WAR ON DRUGS | I Don't Live Here Anymore | 22 | 25 | COIN | Chapstick | 21 | 26 | GAYLE | abcdefu | 21 | 27 | INHALER | Cheer Up Baby | 21 | 28 | MODEST MOUSE | The Sun Hasn't Left | 21 | 29 | VANCE JOY | Missing Piece | 21 | 30 | WOMBATS | If You Ever Leave I'm Coming With You | 21 | 31 | BOYWITHUKE | Toxic | 19 | 32 | RISE AGAINST | Talking To Ourselves | 19 | 33 | WALK THE MOON | Can You Handle My Love | 19 | 34 | GLASS ANIMALS | Heat Waves | 18 | 35 | IMAGINE DRAGONS | Follow You | 18 | 36 | COLDPLAY X BTS | My Universe | 17 | 37 | FOO FIGHTERS | Making A Fire | 17 | 38 | IMAGINE DRAGONS | Wrecked | 17 | 39 | MODEST MOUSE | We Are Between | 17 | 40 | ALL TIME LOW | Monsters | 16 | 41 | ALL TIME LOW | Once In A Lifetime | 16 | 42 | UPSAHL | Thriving | 16 | 43 | FRANZ FERDINAND | Billy Goodbye | 15 | 44 | JUNGLE | Truth | 15 | 45 | MANESKIN | MAMMAMIA | 15 | 46 | PARQUET COURTS | Walking At A Downtown Pace | 14 | 47 | RUFUS DU SOL | On My Knees | 14 | 48 | TURNSTILE | Mystery | 14 | 49 | GIOVANNIE & THE HIRED GUNS | Ramon Ayala | 13 | 50 | REMI WOLF | Sexy Villain | 11 | 51 | SAM FENDER | Seventeen Going Under | 7 |

Portugal The Manβ¦can you think of an example of a band taking longer to put out a new album after a such a huge hit song ???
sure theyβve done collaborations & one-off coversβ¦but we need a new album
well, I suppose Daft Punk fits this as they never will put out a new album after RAM, but PTM are still together

Kudos to the female shredders from LoveBites, but the shredd queens from Band -Maid should also get a shoutout. Miku Kobato and lead guitarist Kanami TΕno are a powerhouse when playing together.

Tired of your Alternative Rock charts being filled with people singing while they hung over or music sounding like it was created on some sound effect app? Listen to Fancy Meloncholic's Indierock compilations on youtube. I didn't research all of them, but most are from the 2021 and 2022, and they all sound pretty good.

The genre of this album is nebulous, but alt encapsulates it well. Shamir's self-titled record from 2020 was solid, but this blows it out of the water. Heterosexuality is Shamir's magnum opus, and it kills me that it will probably fly under the radar. P4K BNM-worthy (idk if thats saying much but I believe it lol)

I had it on for most of the L's and M's to catch my favorite song of all time. 12 Cars songs and counting. They skipped "Misfit Kid" and most shockingly "Dangerous Type". I also got to listen to a Hi-NRG classic from Tans-X. For once in a long while KROQ is sounding cool.

Classic Alternative is a format that hasn't really caught on widely yet - 91X is going to be by far the highest profile station to make this shift. Supposedly they're not dropping currents completely but they're going to be far fewer and far less, and the playlist is basically going to stop at 2001. It might bring them better numbers in the short term but I can't see this lasting very long; they're basically giving up on anyone below the age of 40 with this move. There's a lot of talk about more Alt stations shifting to "classic" playlists and curtailing currents even more than they already have, or dropping them completely, because apparently everything made in the 21st Century can't command consensus in the Alt audience and they feel that they have permanently lost Millennials and Zoomers, so it's no longer worth the effort to try. It just feels sad, considering how 91X has, for so long, been a fixture for breaking new artists and songs and was often considered to be a tastemaker station. Now it's intentionally become a dinosaur, chasing the DATA DATA DATA DATA DATA.

It just feels sad, considering how 91X has, for so long, been a fixture for breaking new artists and songs and was often considered to be a tastemaker station. Now it's intentionally become a dinosaur, chasing the DATA DATA DATA DATA DATA. I would have been upset but however, it seems that this is what their listeners want, since the feedback on their social media has been mostly positive and the PD has confirmed the positive feedback. Yes, this will negatively affect the indie on the chart, but in the end, 91x seems to have done what their listeners want, which is what radio should be for instead of just playing the latest Hot 100 hits and etc. By not conforming to what a regular alternative station should be, 91x is also taking a step further to double down on their anti-corporate and independent stance. It will make us chart aficionados a little unhappy, but if this is what their audience want, so be it. Between this and possibly WSUN flipping format, alt needs more new stations to fill their void, preferably one that isn't owned by a big company. If you want to look at stations chasing data, just look at what Sirius and iHeart are doing. EDIT: Just saw your point about Zoomers. Not too sure if they care about that since they've said they (I think generally) won't be playing songs huge on TikTok.

They seem to have intentionally rewritten history and left out the Post Grunge era and most of 2000's out. They use to play Nickelback, Seether, Lit, Vertical Horizon, Lifehouse. All absent, yet they include Billie Eilish. Whatever I'm stoked they are going classic Modern Rock.

A little while ago, I made a spreadsheet to track spins and inverse points on Mainstream Rock. One thing I do with the data is catalog spins across chart years. So for instance, here are the full spin and inverse point totals of every song that charted across the 2019 and 2020 years: ARTIST - SONG | SPINS | INVERSE POINTS | Highly Suspect - 16 | 30859 | 829 | I Prevail - Hurricane | 30490 | 912 | Bad Wolves - Killing Me Slowly | 28196 | 783 | Papa Roach - Come Around | 28174 | 802 | Ozzy Osbourne - Under the Graveyard | 27797 | 733 | Theory of a Deadman - History of Violence | 27549 | 761 | Dirty Honey - When I'm Gone | 26518 | 775 | Volbeat f/ Neil Fallon - Die to Live | 25140 | 704 | Skillet - Legendary | 24581 | 825 | Dinosaur Pile-Up - Back Foot | 24541 | 732 | Badflower - The Jester | 24132 | 714 | Shinedown - ATTENTION ATTENTION | 23565 | 676 | Korn - You'll Never Find Me | 22829 | 672 | Tool - Fear Inoculum | 20561 | 607 | Dirty Honey - Rolling 7s | 20031 | 637 | The Blue Stones - Shakin' Off the Rust | 19700 | 674 | The Hu f/ From Ashes to New - Yuve Yuve Yu | 19527 | 615 | Green Day - Father of All... | 19376 | 553 | Fire from the Gods - Right Now | 18553 | 613 | Volbeat - Leviathan | 18269 | 545 | Crobot - Low Life | 17417 | 625 | Saint Asonia f/ Sully Erna - The Hunted | 17085 | 561 | Fozzy - Nowhere to Run | 13612 | 491 | Puddle of Mudd - Uh Oh | 12345 | 439 | Starset - Manifest | 10925 | 425 | Weezer - The End of the Game | 9285 | 367 | Killswitch Engage - I Am Broken Too | 8859 | 339 | The Black Keys - Go | 8649 | 332 | Ice Nine Kills - Savages | 8389 | 339 | Slipknot - Nero Forte | 8354 | 344 | Whiskey Myers - Gasoline | 7500 | 301 | Halestorm - Black Vultures | 5506 | 221 | Through Fire - All Animal | 4476 | 172 | BONES UK - Pretty Waste | 4277 | 171 | Post Malone f/ Ozzy Osbourne and Travis Scott - Take What You Want | 4228 | 175 | A Day to Remember - Degenerates | 4135 | 165 | Blacktop Mojo - Can't Sleep | 3704 | 439 | Otherwise - Lifted | 3364 | 131 | Any Given Sin - Another Life | 1276 | 20 | Rubikon - Blood on My Hands | 1254 | 22 | New Years Day - Come for Me | 1135 | 27 |

Classic Alternative sounds like 97.7 The Other Side Of The River, which is on a low-power transmitter northeast of Atlanta near Lake Lanier. I've been listening to it for years. Good stuff on that station. Nothing newer than 2010, please.
