That AWOLNATION covers album was better than I expected. I also like the Man On The Moon cover by !!! After a very weak April release-wise, May started very promising.

If I were The Show Killer I’d be fixing my resume. Sounds like he’s either out of a job or been shunted to a position without power.

This week wasn't as packed for new releases as last week, but there's several notable new releases. In rock radio, the two most notable ones will be the Black Keys and Florence + the Machine. We've also got the debut album from the new supergroup The Smile, fronted by Thom Yorke of Radiohead. Americana veterans Delbert McClinton and Lyle Lovett also return, and for the rap side we've got new releases from Kendrick Lamar and Quelle Chris. Other notable releases come from Kevin Morby, Mallrat, Mandy Moore, State Champs, and Tank and the Bangas.
The Black Keys - Dropout Boogie Delbert McClinton - Outdated Emotion Florence + the Machine - Dance Fever Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers Kevin Morby - This Is a Photograph Lyle Lovett - 12th of June Mallrat - Butterfly Blue Mandy Moore - In Real Life Quelle Chris - Deathfame The Smile - A Light for Attracting Attention State Champs - Kings of the New Age Tank and the Bangas - Red Balloon

Taken from the live concert in England's KK Steel Mill.Chez Kane rocking a duet with Crazy Lixx in true 80's fashion. The song "Walk The Wire" is from the band's 'Rough Justice' album. The first song is of course my new #1 song "Rise Above".

More than just Yorke, Greenwood also in the band (just a different drummer…a jazz drummer from Sons of Kemet). Sounds like Rock Radiohead again.

here is a song that is definitely in my top 100 songs of all time and I love seeing bands perfom this song. Especially Andreaa doing vocals that are meant for a guy to sing. This reminds me of my Heaven '77 cover rock band days.

Doc Indie Party Rock : "Banana Republic", Chequered Love", "Day Before You Came", "Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime", "Hey Little Girl", "Hymn", & "Open Your Heart" seem like odd inclusions...not bad songs but hardly to the level of the other songs here

I agree with you on all counts except "Chequered Love". That's exactly the type of song that gets me going. I suspect the uploader just compiled hits from different parts of the globe. Or maybe its a personal list of his/her's. I really liked the versatility of this lits of songs. Here is another one. This one doesn't concentrate too much on the big Top hits of the 80's , and feels more like a personal rank down. It's also in many ways ,and IMOP a much better list of songs.

Apologies this was a little late. Last week the big release of the week was Harry Styles, whose lead single has recently made the top 20 on AAA and a slight dent on alternative as well. Elsewhere, former Pentatonix member Avi Kaplan has released his debut solo album. Buzzy indie artists Everything Everything and Porridge Radio also dropped new albums, as does The Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn. Two other artists who have previously charted on AAA, Delta Spirit and SOAK, also released new LPs. Emerging Americana artist Zach Bryan has also released a 34-track album, with a song from it already on the Hot 100. The Unlikely Candidates have finally dropped their debut album, which includes "Novocaine". Other arists that dropped include Phoebe Bridgers' label alumni Charlie Hickey, Australian EDM artist Flume, Gavin DeGraw (with a Dave Cobb-produced effort), X co-founder John Doe, and Lykke Li.
Avi Kaplan - Floating on a Dream Charlie Hickey - Nervous at Night Craig Finn - A Legacy of Rentals Delta Spirit – One is One Eliza & the Delusionals - Now and Then Everything Everything - Raw Data Feel Flume - Palaces Gavin DeGraw - Face the River Harry Styles - Harry's House John Doe - Fables in a Foreign Land Lykke Li - EYEYE Mavis Staples & Levon Helm - Carry Me Home mxmtoon - rising Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Dirt Does Dylan Porridge Radio - Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky Prateek Kuhad - The Way That Lovers Do SOAK - If I never know you like this again The Unlikely Candidates - Panther Island Weird Nightmare - Weird Nightmare Zach Bryan - American Heartbreak

Also released last Friday: The Heart Is Strange by xPropaganda. It can be considered the follow-up to the classic A Secret Wish by Propaganda released in 1985. Original members Claudia Brücken and Susanne Freytag are back as well as producer Stephen Lipson.

ok...i know they had an album out in 1990 (but w/o all of the original members...there was some dispute w/ the label i guess)...that album wasn't nearly as good...but if this is the original line up from A Secret Wish, then i've got HIGH expectations...gonna check this out right now!

Another great concert that just took place in the United Kingdom was Duran Duran at the Leicester O2 Academy. Just a taste and it includes my favorite Duran Duran song ever.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend folks. A few big names dropped new LPs today. Liam Gallagher drops his 3rd solo album, featuring contributions from Dave Grohl and Ezra Koenig. Speaking of Koenig, he's also in the new Bruce Hornsby LP. Glam rock veterans Def Leppard also return with their first album in 7 years, as does alternative veterans Wilco's follow-up to 2019's Ode to Joy. Chicago's Dehd has also dropped their 4th album, and Alfie Templeman dropped his debut album. Other new releases include Jukebox the Ghost, Steve Earle & the Dukes, and... Tate McRae I guess.
Note: this post originally stated that Tove Lo contributed to the Liam Gallagher record. Correction: one of her songs was interpolated.
Alfie Templeman - Mellow Moon Bruce Hornsby - 'Flicted Def Leppard - Diamond Star Halos Dehd - Blue Skies Jukebox the Ghost - Cheers Liam Gallagher - C’MON YOU KNOW Steve Earle & the Dukes - JERRY JEFF Tate McRae - i used to think i could fly Wilco - Cruel Country

Both Andy Fletcher of Depeche Mode and Alan White of Yes have passed on. sad news...if it had been Martin or Dave who had passed, i'd say "well that's the end of DM" ... but is it conceivable that the 2 of them could continue on?

A couple of weeks ago, EMF released a new album, "Go Go Sapiens". It's the follow-up to Cha Cha Cha (1995). It's not available on streaming services. I got tired of waiting and I bought a copy at Bandcamp. It really exceeded my expectations. The first single is available in Spotify, called "Sister Sandinista", not the best cut in the album.

The Perfume Genius one really intrigues me since it's also a short film/modern dance project. The video is available on YouTube.

the soundtrack of my youth. Definitely one of the best rocking concerts of the year. These are snips of some of the songs in every band's set. Brett Michaels certainly looks the most NRGetic and he sounds great. Def Lepp rocking the best IMOP. Mötley Crüe sound great. Love thier stage extras. Vince sounding better than ever, but he was never the same after the tragic incedents in his life. I guess they missed out on Joan Jett, but you can see videos of her set on youtube as well as the full sets.
