Her new dance/pop songs are amazing on her album! I love Whip It, I hope it gets released after Right By My Side.

Took a break from this song for a few weeks, and now loving it again. Kind of ridiculous how perfect this song is for summer weather.

Nicki Minaj is a sell out. Her urban/hip hop songs did not sell as well...so now we have this crap. I am losing more and more respect for this chick every day.

Nicki Minaj is a sell out. Her urban/hip hop songs did not sell as well...so now we have this crap. I am losing more and more respect for this chick every day. She still makes the urban and hip-hop songs, but they're not released to pop radio for the simple fact that they would flop here. There's absolutely nothing wrong with her having success with two different types of music. Her urban songs do great on urban. Her pop songs do great on pop. Urban doesn't shift sales, though, which is why sales for those songs are low. She is not a sell out. Her debut album had plenty of pop on it. In fact, her big entrance into the industry was "BedRock." That song is a heavily pop influenced rhythmic song.

After listening to her album, I feel like this was the right single to start off the era on the mainstream top 40 charts. "Va Va Voom" and "Pound the Alarm" are the other few songs on the record that I think could continue being top 10 pop hits for her (assuming Starships makes that which I think is almost a given at this point).

"Pound the Alarm" and "Marilyn Monroe" both sound like pop smashes to me.

If "Starships" doesn't top the Hot 100, I could see "Whip It" or "Va Va Voom" doing that and most of the pop songs are good (even the extremely generic "Automatic").

Pound the Alarm is really similar to Starships in the way that they're both really good apart from the random horrible techno breakdowns. Va Va Voom is a great too, and I don't mind Roman Holiday either.

True....But a song such as Super Bass seems more her....this just feels as if she is trying to hard to score a pop hit...it's Kesha lite

It just hit me that Starships has been deadlocked at #6/#7 on iTunes for nearly 2 months now. I think that's a hint as to how big this song could be during the summer. I'm curious to see what they're going to do with the video.

Pound The Alarm, Va Va Boom and Whip It are serious Pop smashes waiting to happen.
I'm sure whatever she releases to Urban will do fine. I'd go for HOV Lane, tbh. I'm loving this album.

I would release Va Va Voom next, the breakdown in PTA is a little too similar to Starships to be released right after it.

Please tell me why this is out before the 'Starships' video, and why the damn album is out before the first singles video?
