And then The Hunger Games, and then Madonna. Adele's gonna have to do what she does best and take a seat for a while.

Adele will have a long wait for another week at #1. Lots of big releases coming up.
3/13 One Direction - 175k? (will beat Adele) 3/20 Hunger Games - 150k? 3/27 Madonna - 175k? 4/3 Rascal Flatts - 150k?

Adele might sneak in that week between Madonna and Nicki, depending in Madonna's hold and All-American Rejects' opening.

Nicki is the week after Madonna. Which is the week leading to Easter, so higher sales. Nicki might get a second week. But April looks pretty dry. All American Rejects and Train aren't albums artists. Next big week after that looks to be May 1 with Carrie and Norah. I don't know about Jason Mraz and John Mayer though.

In some weird way, I hope this is a sign that record companies will lower prices for album sales. They should be $9.99 for standard editions and $12.99 for deluxe editions. ??? 99% of all new releases in stores are 9.99 the first week and deluxe editions are $11-13 as well.

Not going to get into where future releases will debut but it seems clear One Direction will be #1 next week, this week Springsteen Adele may be out of #1 for a while, or Adele may bounce back but it is certain to still have several months left in the top 10

I have to say that whenever I go into the few stores that stock CDS in my area (Barnes & Noble, Everyday Music and a couple others) the prices are ridiculous, first week or not. Florence + the Machine and Rihanna deluxe editions were both $16.99 their first weeks. Also, even if 99% of albums are $9.99 their first week, they should maintain that price. Maybe albums would have some longevity that way. What stores do you go into that have prices that low? Best Buy & Target?

I mean, I love Adele's sales, but when will everyone in the world have the album already? I feel that way every time I see the newest single hit the top spot on the singles sales charts. I'm like, really? There are 3 million people who don't already have that song.

Best Buy and Target always have the new albums on sale for $9.99 or less. One Direction is $8 at Target this week. Barnes & Noble is so over-priced. Walmart now has all their cds below the $11.99 pricepoint.

Soundtrack, The Sound Of Music, 109 weeks (May 1965 to January 1968). 2. Bruce Springsteen, Born In The U.S.A., 84 weeks (June 1984 to January 1986). 3. Michael Jackson, Thriller, 78 weeks (January 1983 to June 1984). 4. Def Leppard, Hysteria, 78 weeks (August 1987 to March 1989). 5. Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill, 72 weeks (August 1995 to January 1997). 6. Soundtrack, Doctor Zhivago, 71 weeks (June 1966 to January 1968). 7. Paula Abdul, Forever Your Girl, 64 weeks (February 1989 to May 1990). 8. Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, Whipped Cream & Other Delights, 61 weeks (July 1965 to March 1967). 9. Celine Dion, Falling Into You, 61 weeks (March 1996 to June 1997). 10. Lionel Richie, Can't Slow Down, 59 weeks (November 1983 to December 1984). 11. Taylor Swift, Fearless, 58 weeks (November 2008 to February 2010). 12. Hootie & The Blowfish, Cracked Rear View, 55 weeks (February 1995 to March 1996). 13. Adele, 21, 55+ weeks (February 2011 to present).music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/chart-watch-extra-a-full-year-in-the-top-10.html

^ I would be shocked if it didn't reach the top 5.

me too but I'm far more cautious than I should be in my predictions. I wouldn't be surprised to see it pass "Born In the USA," but there's a lot that could happen in the next year to keep it from breaking "Sound of Music's" record.

I think it has a pretty good shot of ending in the number two position. If Rumour hits the way people think it will, and I don't have any doubts that it will be a sizeable hit, that should keep the album rolling for several more months. And if her label decides to release Turning Tables, which I think they should, That should sustain interest in the album for an additional few months. I mean, 21 has only left the top 5 once, and that was during an especially competitive week. My prediction is, at the very least, it will finish #3 of all time. #1 is a long shot. But I will echo countless people's sentiments when I say, yet again, you can't underestimate Adele at this point.
