According to Billboard article, they changed the sales/airplay ratio. It's no longer 100k sales = 100 mil AI. It's probably something like this now: 100k sales = 70 mil AI (instead of 100 mil AI) "Additionally, the Hot 100's sales/airplay ratio has been adjusted to both accommodate the influx of additional streaming services to the chart's data pool and to slightly lessen the influence of sales, as the volume of digital downloads had increased exponentially since the chart's last formula modification in 2007." www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/record-labels/fun-remains-atop-revised-hot-100-1006455552.storyIt's possible streaming doesn't count that much. It's sales counting less (relative to airplay) that hurt Bieber the most. Guess we won't know for sure unless we mass e-mail Billboard about the new formula! Hmm, I like that.

Thanks for the charts, 2m.
"Girl Gone Wild" reaches a third week on Bubbling Under- the second-longest run on Bubbling Under of her four BU entries. If it hadn't peaked at 6 in its debut week, that would match the peak of "Everybody." Bringing it full circle. :'(

Thank you for all the charts! Anyone have sales figures to post? Haven't seen sales numbers for a few weeks. Thanks in advance.

Interesting side note: Although the order is different, the Hot 100 top ten and Digital Songs top ten match each other. Not sure how often that happens.

I just hope Billboard has something in place to prevent chart manipulation from streaming music. If one person buying 50 copies of a single doesn't count for 50 purchases, one person playing a song 50 times in a row shouldn't count for 50 plays. Who's to say the person is even listening? THIS is what I want to know! THIS right here!!!! Forget about everything else!

I don't care what the song is. Why would anyone want to listen to a song 50 times in a row?

I don't care what the song is. Why would anyone want to listen to a song 50 times in a row? To get it to #1 (if that's the case). They don't have to listen to it, they can just hit play and mute it or something.

Hangover by Taio Cruz was the only song I listened to for 2 days straight pretty much (had it on repeat when driving, when at home, when using iPod). It's just the way I listen to songs sometimes.

I don't even have any songs in my iTunes library that have hit 100 plays total, over 1.5 years, let alone 200.

To get it to #1 (if that's the case). They don't have to listen to it, they can just hit play and mute it or something. Let's say this is the case for a hypothetical person Would 1 person really make that much difference? Obviously, no. But just a few thousand people(which is possible, depending on the fanbase) can make a difference. Anyway, the point is, like Jazz said, if Billboard doesn't count one person buying 50 copies of a song as 50 purchases, then the same should be applied to the On Demand streamings.

The threshold might not be 50 copies. They look for anomalies in a particular geographic area or store
if for example one store sold 8000 copies of MDNA when all other stores are averaging 800, that would be taken out

Also can someone describe an instance to me where you would spend 700-800 dollars (or whatever 50 copies is) on the same 10-15 song album. or since this is a song thread $64.50 on 50 copies of the same song. (assume 1.29 each)
And has anyone here ever done it?

Wow how did Aviici maintain his position again???? He was never in the top 100 on iTunes all week and he still was the 75th best selling single for the week? And streaming must really be helping M83 as that song wasn't even in the top100 on iTunes either. Both songs have minimal airplay too.

Because there are a billion remixes of Levels out there that all together total up with enough sales to keep Avicii afloat.

Your single sells more than GOLD in a week, and you're not #1. DUMB.
